I was referred by an oral surgeon when he found deficient work in my mouth done by another dentist in Nassau County; one that I had been seeing for years and spent thousands of dollars with. The care I've rec'd over the last 25 years is really amazing, I've had so many people admire my smile (a smile, I might add that I was embarrassed of before going to this practice) - and now those admirers are going to Dr. D.!! When they retire, they even travel back just to be cared for by him. Over the last 25 years, I've also been cared for by his wonderful and knowledgeable dental hygienist, Cheri. She has educated me so much on proper home care techniques and saved me from periodontal work!! If it wasn't for this office, I'd probably have no teeth by now! Dr. D. is wonderful; he explains everything to you, is gentle, very caring and compassionate. He also takes all the necessary safety precautions when seeing patients - very sterile and sanitary. They hand you a random piece of paper charging $500 for a 20 minute appointment without any sort of itemization. Number two, the standard of care here was very disappointing. I was referred here due to a previous procedure that failed and I had a difficult time getting a straight and consistent recommendation on treatment options. It become very clear to me the surgeon Proothi was more concerned with not making his buddies in the field look bad rather than providing me the clarity I deserved as a paying patient. My previous three surgeries were at a different office. I actually liked the oral surgeon, and during our consultation, he felt confident that he could successfully place two or three implants. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned. The first surgery was extracting five teeth, the second one was attempting to place the implants and the third was removing them after they failed. If I had remained with that office, the surgeon explained that one possible treatment was a mesh implant, but estimated it had only about a 50% chance of success. Another option was dentures, which was incredibly discouraging. The difference in the final results between these two offices is night and day. Before, my mouth was left raw, red, and incredibly painful. This time, Dr. Capuano's work was clean and stitched up beautifully. He and his entire staff were amazing, compassionate, and answered all of my questions . They turned a stressful situation into a massive success. I cannot recommend Dr. Capuano highly enough!
