It's tucked off the main road near hotels so it can be missed but near the expressway it's super convenient. It's prices are also the same as two other gas stations further down Blankenbaker. I typically do not wait for a gas pump. The pumps are quick and make it easy to pay by credit card. Plenty of parking spots are available near the entrance if you head inside for a drink, snack or lottery ticket. The lot has been well maintained as well.

And while St. Matthews has a lot going on, it lacks convenience stores and/or bodegas. In addition, the owner and the employees are always super friendly and kind. More than once I have forgotten my wallet and they let me take my items anyway, knowing I will come back as a loyal customer. When they were out of their fried chicken, they fried some just for us. They have also been doing a lot of remodeling, so the place offers even more products. It's just a great little store in a convenient location.

In the past month, they've felt unwelcome in the store. This evening, I walked my son and daughter up to the store so they could buy some candy. I waited outside. My son came out and said that once again, the man behind the counter was rushing him. The man said, "come on, hurry up" and was tapping his hands on the counter. This is the second time this has happened. There was another incident in which my son and his friend rode scooters up to the store. They propped their scooters up against the building and were yelled at and told that they would have to pay $800 if they damaged the building. So, they left and shopped elsewhere. After we walked home tonight I drove up there and politely asked the man if there was a problem with the kids being in the store. I explained the experiences my kids have had. I asked him if he told them to hurry up. He said that he did and went on to explain that a couple of weeks ago "20 kids" came in and they did damage to the store. I feel terrible that happened to him but I told him that my kids were not part of that group and have always been polite. Not to mention, the first time he rushed my kids was several weeks ago. I explained that we support his business. He said he didn't care if it my kids were not part of the group that caused problems. His exact words were, "I am not a Walmart. If you want to shop somewhere else, you can shop somewhere else. Kids have three minutes to shop in the store and that rule is for all kids." It is a bit disheartening that, after trying to talk to him and understand the situation better, he basically told me to shop elsewhere. We won't be shopping at the St. Matthews Mini Mart again. We love to support local businesses so this is a bit disappointing. If you have kids who like to shop there, you may want to supervise them.

"According to the FDA though, rigorous testing proves that the chance of plasticizers leaking from plastic wrap when heated is slim to none. Manufacturers must test their plastic wraps so that they adhere to FDA regulations and only then can the products carry a "microwave safe" label. The plastic wraps you'll find in the supermarket all have been okayed by the FDA and are safe to use. They should all say "microwave safe" on the packaging."

Get over it…read more With the recent buyout of Thornton's, the overall blahness of Speedway, and the who-knows-what-you'll-get visiting a Circle K, the local Mapco's really standout above the other convenience stores. From my experience, all the Mapco Louisville stores are clean, well-organized, and well-staffed. The gas pumps are easy to navigate with plenty of room between rows. They offer a 90-Octane mid-grade unleaded with no ethanol which is a plus for those of us who believe adding ethanol to gasoline is just a bit stupid when fuel supplies are fine and refining corn to ethanol is just costly. Also, the Chester's Chicken & More located in each Mapco serves the best chicken tenders in town. Granted, best to get them fresh so you need to come by during the lunch or dinner hours and the cook station is not always open, but really, they put the Zaxby's located beside the station to shame. The tenders are huge, juicy and paired with some of their dipping sauces, just plain good. I've also had a couple of their hot dogs from this location, too, which are some of the best dogs around. Served in a few different ways, from Chicago-style, to Memphis-style, or as a chili dog, they air fry the hot dog so it's not off a roller and it has the crispness on the skin as if they were grilled. They're huge, too, so one will usually more than satisfy. My one minus is the fountain machine, it's one of those Coca-Cola touchscreen models, and I hate those damn things.

I will NEVER go to a Pilot gas station again! I stopped to fill up my car during a work trip (cost…read more$27) and they put a $151 hold on my bank account. At first, I thought it was fraud, but my bank confirmed (and later so did Pilot when I called their corporate office) that they do this as a standard procedure for all gas pumping transactions. Pilot said it usually falls off before the customer even notices the $151 hold. Well, 5 days later, I still have the $151 hold on my account. So my little $27 charge cleared the very next day but they are still holding my $151. When I called Pilot they said they could not even open an investigation until at least 5 days had passed. This is absolutely ridiculous!!!!!!
