I came in without an appointment (I finally got fed up with the Check Engine light being on -- and my van, nicknamed Pam Poovey, started to balk too), but everything was done the same day at a very reasonable price. Please note that they don't sell gasoline here. It appears that the pumps were taken out many years ago. However, there are two places for gasoline within 1 block (one across the side street, in fact). I am happy to find a repair shop in Louisville that would get my Dad's seal of approval.

You enter the mostly automated car wash getting your ride sprayed down by a pair of people with what looks like one of the worst jobs in winter. Seems like you'd never get warm. Once you're past them, your wheel locks in, you put your car in neutral, and the ghost of Mr. G drags you through an automated cleaning canal. Colors change. Suds spray. Scrubbers are applied. Your car is clean. You go into drive and leave. No scratches to my paint. Clean car. Better than being cold and spraying it down myself. This place also offers a ton of membership levels and even has a haunted car wash at Halloween. You read that right.

Additionally, if you are going to need a wash more than once a month, you can get those other washes for free. When I visited, a continuing monthly pass was the same price as a single wash. The wash itself is thorough and left my car spotless without damaging the paint. Once you leave the automated wash tunnel, you have the option of continuing on your way, or, OR, using the free towels, glass cleaner, and vacuums to continue spiffing up your ride. Which presumably makes this little do-it-all shop viable for the locals. My "deli lunch" was a mound of salty ham with a touch of swiss, and the self-serve soft-serve choices include chocolate, vanilla, and swirl. The grocery aisles include local packaged meats and even some greenery. The fuel pumps are antiques, and because multiple people used them to fill gas cans as I sat and ate at the picnic table, my lunch came with a corresponding olfactory bonus - no extra charge. We were too uppity to use the port-o-potty, but otherwise we delighted in this little oasis -- perhaps not a dream grocery store, but it's a considerable upgrade from your standard gas station convenience.
