My job entailed replacing two attic fans with my new, in-box units…read more 1- Your billing begins when the handyman leaves their last job. That's $65/hour just to drive to the worksite. 2- He arrived with an approximate 4 rung step ladder, which by itself would have created a challenge to get into the attic from an interior trap door on an 8 foot ceiling. The company made no effort to come out and preview the job, or ask appropriate questions to determine their needs. Since the typical job would mean loosening the shingles to pull the old unit out, roof access is required. Additional trips for equipment/supplies, at $65/hour prompted me to allow him to use my ladder, both outside and inside. 3- The repairman determined it would be easiest and more practical to leave the existing housing in place and just replace the motor fan unit with thermostat. This still required rooftop access. 4- The job was completed with 4 hours of billing AND a hardware charge of some $40. What hardware? Everything was included and there was no need to seal around a housing already in place. No itemized account for the hardware was provided so I can only theorize that I must have been renting the tools that were used. My gut feeling tells me that the billing presumed what the typical fan replacement might require and I was billed on their presumption rather than fact. 5- Mailed them a check for the full amount and added a note about they're being ill-equipped and over-charging for a job they can't substantiate -AND- I won't be using them in the future.

He called back within 4 hours and we set up an appoint for an appraisal. Eric gave us the bid for the trim and after close evaluation on the stucco, we realized the whole house needed painting. Eric is a one man band, but finished our entire home (including stucco repair) in one week. He does get back to all phone calls promptly. We have critical eyes, so we mentioned a couple things to Eric that we noticed and he smiled and said "no problem" . Pleasant response rather than hostile response like you get from so many other repair companies. Eric introduced us to Rooda Paint Company. This paint; is specifically designed for our area. My husband and I hired Steve last October to knock out the back wall of our master bedroom and…read moreinstall tall custom-made French doors as well as Spanish tile floors with in-floor radiant heat in the master bathroom and bedroom. One of the things Steve promised was to keep us regularly statused with clear communication. THAT was a false promise on his part. He seldom communicated clearly and did not keep us statused. As the project continued over the next 7 months to the present day, it became apparent that Steve is not planful and does not understand project management. The first -- and best -- thing that happened was he hired Joe McKuen (arguably the best tile guy in the Rogue Valley) to install the radiant heat and Spanish tiles that we had already purchased. Joe did a flawless job in the first two weeks. Very impressive. Understandably, the custom-made French doors and glass panels took overlong to be fabricated due to supply chain and Covid issues. When we asked, we got an update from Steve but he certainly didn't keep us in the loop. Finally, in the middle of winter Steve said he was going to take out the back wall and install the French doors and sliding screens. That occurred over about a week or so in late February. He, his father (a very experienced framer), and the owner of the door fabrication company with two of his employees finally installed the doors EXCEPT for the screen doors. It turned out Steve had never placed the order for the screened doors. According to Steve, the price of the screened doors had doubled in the intervening months. He decided he wanted to find a different vendor although I said we'd pick up the cost difference. We're still waiting for the screened doors and for the paint stains to be power-washed off the brick patio. Steve hasn't returned our calls in over a month. We have no idea if he finally placed an order for screened doors -- or if he intends to finish the job. It appears that after he got his last check from us, he just walked off the job and doesn't intend to complete it. Steve projected that this job would be completed by late December at the latest. It is almost the beginning of May and has not been completed so far. Based on this behavior on his part, we do NOT recommend him or the company he owns, Rivercross Construction.
