They are SO nice and friendly and I hope things keep going for them. It's mostly a "beverage store" but in these times, it's easy to "socially distance" and they remain as friendly as ever. In fact, he drives about 10 minutes past our house to give him business as we like to support our local stores. This morning, hubby bought 4 Monster drinks, has his usual pleasant exchange with the owner, then went back to the car to have one of the drinks explode. He went back into the store to let the owner know and ask to have it replaced. The manager immediately accused him of doing something to the product instead of replacing it in good faith or even telling him that they don't replace items. Naturally, this didn't settle well with my husband, who was going to simply buy a replacement and not go back in again. The owner was going to grudgingly give him the replacement, but his attitude was so irksome that he told the owner he wasn't going to be back again. At that point, the owner demanded that he hand the drink to him and refused to let him have it afterall, telling him he could have the one that burst. When he got back to the car, a second drink burst. It makes no good business sense to accuse a customer of damaging something intentionally to get a "free" one. What does he gain from doing that? It's not like he can consume a can of drink that's burst. Replacing defective product is the customary way that businesses show good faith to their customers, that we can trust them and continue to do business with them. We won't be giving him business any longer, and neither will our family. And you can bet that as with any other customer treated in this manner, we'll be telling this story to others. Do better. Don't be insulting on top of cheap. If you just had a bad day, everyone has them. Just apologize.

Huge FOOD SAFETY issue at this little store!…read more I came in the summer before last for some quick bites to eat. It was for a picnic with a new lady friend and her child down at Lion's Park. I grabbed a couple egg salad sandwiches, some drinks, and chips. I rang up and went to the park with my food to enjoy with my new friend. As we were digging in at the park, we started to get some eggshells in our mouths eating our sandwiches, just on the very first bite. We spat the shells out, and remarked that it happens sometimes. We tried to eat more, and it was VILE. Every single bite was PILED with eggshells. It was disgusting. We took the piece from the child we gave and swept the remnants out of his mouth. When I mean PILED, I mean exactly that. The shells had been added and mixed in so much that it was a straight eggshell sandwich on the second bite. I opened the sandwiches up and it was disgusting. I should have taken a picture of all the shell fragments whipped into the sandwich. It was basically all shells. Super odd. I looked all over the wrapper for contact information, and there wasn't any. No vendor label on the food. There wasn't a barcode, ingredients list, allergens list (egg, wheat), or even an expiration date! Granted, I should have been cautious since there were no regulatory labels on the food I purchased, but I was in a hurry to go to the park. The weather was so nice that day. Maybe the label fell off. A few days later, I go to the store so I can find out who supplies the store with these sandwiches. I had to go early in the morning, as I don't get to Bremerton that often and work and live in Belfair. I go inside the store and no one is there. I say hello a couple times, and nothing. So I decide to look where I got my sandwiches and get the vendor name. I find the product in question, and they all don't have labels either! So at this point I figure that they all didn't just fall off. I take a picture of the sandwiches on the rack when a person comes from the back asking if she can help me with anything. I ask her who supplies the sandwiches, as I had a terrible quality issue with them. She immediately starts getting hostile with me and defiant. She keeps angrily interrogating me as to why I need to know. After about 5 minutes of conversation, where I tell my story about the incident at the park, she obviously can't keep her composure. She eventually, within her anger, states that her mother makes the sandwiches, at home, and not in a certified kitchen. I continue to calmly ask a cpupke important questions about the food prep area. She loses it. She's yelling at me, extremely emotional about my inquiries about the safety and labeling of the food. She gives me a partial refund very begrudgingly and asks me to leave. I do. Don't buy anything there without a label. I wonder how they know which sandwiches in the rack are from the day of, or weeks prior, since none of them are marked? Lady was unhinged and food was inedible. Beware! I couldn't imagine having to be the cashier's family member or close acquaintance with that personality of hers. Yikes.

Normally the other female employees who work here are wonderful, friendly, and amazing at…read morecommunicating. I have been a regular here for about 2 years. Every time I have come in and this guy is working, he has the stinkiest attitude. He can't be bothered with customers, he rolls his eyes and his body language screams annoyance. I find it very unprofessional and immature, however I have always tried to kill every interaction with kindness. It doesn't matter though he's hard pressed on being rude. One time I came in, he was turning up the volume on the tv and flipping through the channels and OPENLY hitting and puffing his vape. His entire demeanor showed that he didn't want to be there, that he didn't want customers there and that he was absolutely miserable with life. I'm not sure why he's so miserable, but honestly I don't even allow my 7 year old daughter to speak and talk and act the way that this grown man does. I have let it roll off my shoulder many times as I walk away saying "not my circus" but it honestly irritates me to see someone with such poor behavior in customer service. It's honestly appalling bad. But... I've said to myself many times when I have encountered him that it's not like he didn't do his job. He definitely did... he just does it in a way that sucks the joy out of every single person that he encounters. But this most recent time was the worst one so far. I asked if my daughter could use the bathroom. He said "no public restrooms" my daughter was dancing around like a pony. I said "we're regulars here... can we just" He shrugs and said "I'm sorry that's the policy" I'm not mad at that part. I am mildly annoyed because even when I go to 7'11 I frequent so often that they know me and my daughter by name and even though they don't have a public restroom they understand that when a kid needs to pee... they need to pee. Anyway I took her out to a bush and let her pee there while i covered her up and then came back in, got the things we wanted. And I honestly only still even bought anything because I was tired and I really didn't want to have to drive somewhere else. Also all the women there have been wonderful and sweet to me. When I approached the counter to pay I said "it's a bit pedantic to not let a kid use the potty when we're regulars here." I said it plainly. I didn't raise my voice I said it calmly. I just stated this opinion. He said with widely rude and raised tone "we don't HAVE a PUBLIC restroom lady... you got a problem with it... take it up with the owner." I said "I don't really appreciate how I'm being spoken to." Again I said it gently. He says "well you're being rude" I said "I actually have said nothing wrong. I have addressed my frustration in a rather fair and diplomatic manner, while at being met with a very poor attitude. And I'm not sure why you always seem to be in such a mood every time I encounter you, but honestly your customer service sucks. Whatever it is you're going through mentally I hope it gets better, but I'm tired of every time I engage with you being met by such a rude attitude towards paying customers." His response was "would you like a bag" and then "have a good day" through gritted teeth. He didn't have to tell me yes. He didn't have to agree with me... he just could have handled it professionally. And honestly... really bizarre to be splitting hairs over a child going potty when he vapes in front of customers. He could have said the exact same words he said but with a professional demeanor. I'm not an unreasonable person. I understand policies. But I also don't feel that it was unreasonable for me to question the validity of the policy and how much it makes sense when a child is clearly going to wet themselves.

I want to be able to support local businesses but this store does not value customer service at all…read moreand its owners discriminate on the basis of race and "looks". They have treated some of the students of color who come to purchase food with extreme disrespect, suspecting that they will steal. They also do not check that the products the sell are good quality. I purchased a tube of Eucerin hand lotion for $3.96 - it already had the sticker price on the tube of $3.59 so I knew it was more expensive. I am willing to pay a premium for convenience stores because I know that it can be hard to stay alive and keep inventory. HOWEVER, I bought the tube only to discover that the lotion was not a lotion but a liquid with some oil. When I immediately went back to return it, they told me that they did not do any returns and if I had a problem with the product then I needed to contact the manufacturers of the lotion directly to get a replacement. They also did not answer me when I asked if it would have been ok to test the product out without buying it first. Even they were surprised when they opened the tube to test the lotion out themselves. Then they kept yelling in a loud voice that this was not their problem. I will not be returning to this store.

He isn't very chatty, but he is very receptive to requests for specific products. If you want him to carry some things that he currently doesn't, let him know and he will see if his distributors can deliver to the store. Some of the items are more expensive here, but it is worth it to avoid a longer walk when you can stay close to home. He also carries very low priced treats for kids, so you can give your child a few quarters and they can buy special treats for themselves there.
