There was no offer to help remedy the problem, only an offer full rate new install. As I feel their response to this review mischaracterizes their response to me, the following is the exact response I was given. Also note that it was not a phone conversation, it was a response in email. -- Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are sorry to hear this happened. -- We definitely recommend that we hardwire your new device rather than use the receptacle location. -- Our warranty period has expired, for this work and you will be looking at our service call rate for our return. -- The charge will be $225 for the first hour followed by $120 each additional hour and roughly looking at $50 in material if we cannot reuse any of the wiring. -- Do you have the new device on site? I can schedule an electrician to come by tomorrow, Friday February 13th if that works for you. I requested to be reimbursed for the previous work, and while I didn't say as much, I would have accepted less even just a slight discount, or even full price if literally any attempt would have been made at support. I was told: -- We will not be reimbursing you for the work or the device. Our work was completed to code and inspected by the city. I am leaving it up to the reader to decide if that's acceptable to them. It's not acceptable to me.

    I'm not quite sure about the negative comments here as they do not reflect the Design Lighting I've…read moreknown since 2002. I have enough knowledge about the history of this company as it grew to what it is today. They are very organized and sales staff are trained to give their absolute best in helping customers. I wonder if the negative comments are for another store named Design Lighting which is definitely not the one in Langley (previous location) and in Surrey (current location). I am not an employee of this company but do business calls regularly. Over the years, I've seen how the staff attended to customers. They are helpful and knowledgeable. Their operation is computerized from day 1. They know their items and their stock position. I'm sharing this because I cannot believe the negative comments I've read. Also, the reviewers are US based customers so I'm wondering if there's a case of mistaken store identity here. Thank you.

The receipt said it but isn't highlighted so didn't realize this until I came back to exchange it for another fixture I'd been considering. The staff on the weekend couldn't over-ride the exchange from a final sale so had to call the manager the next day and make another trip out to make the exchange which was for a more expensive fixture as well. There was only one staff at the front counter that managed to break a smile in the three visits I had to make. Really not impressed at all. Could have found the same on Wayfair with a lot less hassle. Beware if you want to return or exchange anything, they really don't appreciate this.

Refered 10+ clients Year 2: After several missed appointments and 5 or 6 phone calls back and forth, finally shows up to install. blames secretary (sister) for poor communication. Lights installed properly, but dozens broken during take down Year 3: Several missed appointments, constant telephone tag (they don't call you, you call them and if they feel like it they will call back). Lights installed, several broken, end result good. Take down, 26 days later than agreed. Confirmed from the office numerous times they were down, came home from work, not down. Terrible company, will never use again. Unable to contact through other social media as they have blocked me after making a professional complaint.

They called me back within the same day, were super…read morefriendly and provided me with all the information I needed including helping me decide on what lighting would look best on my house by looking my house up on Google Maps together. They then booked the apt within a couple days, and despite torrential rainfall and wind that day, they showed up on time and extremely friendly and holiday spirited. Such a pleasure. On top of that, while up on the roof, they took the liberty of unplugging my gutters in a couple places - something that I had been trying to get someone out here to deal with, and they just did it because they saw the clogged up area (that is also their second business - gutters and windows). And to boot, when I told him I wanted to put up a garland around the front door, he provided the lights, which I wrapped around the garland, and then he hung up the garland for me. My house looks beautiful, and it was done quickly, professionally, by incredibly pleasant professionals for a very reasonable price. I will definitely use them again next year for our lights, and will also be calling them to do our gutters and window cleaning in the spring!
