This used to be a good, reliable East end taxi service. Recently, the last 3 times I ordered a cab from Maple leaf taxi the dispatcher did not listen properly and sent the cabs to the wrong place. It was very frustrating. The cab drivers had to phone me and were very late. The first time they messed up I was with an elderly neighbour and we had to wait for a long time. The second time I had just had surgery and he sent the cab to a mall instead of the address I specifically gave. The third time the cab did not show up because he had given the wrong pick up address. I was very clear and polite on the phone and the dispatcher was rude and dismissive. All the cab drivers have been very pleasant so I will give this company one more chance. read more

After 30 years of loyally using Maple Leaf, they finally took me for granted and treated me like crap one time too many. It's sad, I always had great conversations with the drivers, we'd always talk about how bad the untrained, unexamined UBER and LYFT drivers are, and I was always proud to say I'd never taken an UBER or LYFT. But, I think I now finally understand why everyone switched to UBER and LYFT. Goodbye Maple Leaf... I'm sad to go....you should not complain about UBER and LYFT anymore...you are not losing customers because of THEM...they are gaining customers because of YOU and your bad treatment of customers who supported you loyally. read more

VIBE At first the ride was ok. The driver was minding his own business (that would be driver 3465). But when I was getting charged double half way through our ride, I had to question it. When a cab driver starts arguing about Kazakhstan it's not a good thing. THE RIDE It's getting increasingly frustrating and difficult to trust cab drivers in this city when a cab ride that should have cost $23 MAX was costing airport prices at $40 (from the east end to Shaw and Queen). The driver even rolled down his window to another cab to verify how much it would cost. When the other cab driver said "$20," he turned to me and said, "He's on your side." He wouldn't negotiate down from $40 so I got out of the cab immediately and started running. He chased me with his cab into a restaurant and demanded his money. He would not leave the restaurant until he got his money. We had to call his dispatcher. He wouldn't give me his name. I don't think I should have paid anything but I paid for what I thought the ride was worth, which was $20. Unbelievable. Then he thought he'd bring his customer service to another level and decided to call the cops on me and after doing so, continued to demand his money. His dispatcher continued to yell at me (in the back of a fancy restaurant, mind you). There are a lot of really douchey cab drivers who will try to rip you off in this city but this one was on an entirely different level. I felt unsafe at certain points and somewhat abused by this behaviour. It's just not right. OBLIGATORY CATCHY REMARK I will NEVER take Maple Leaf Taxi in my life ever again because they hire drivers like this. Hailo now has my business because at least they make sure you have the name of your taxi driver. I went from watching the Boston Manhunt to being part of one (albeit slightly less dramatic). This is why I'm glad I have Yelp: so people know about experiences like this and can have justified customer service. read more

Have been using Maple Leaf for 25+ years. Have also solidly defended the taxi business since the arrival of Uber and swore to never, ever use anything but an official taxi cab. Had to be at work at 6:30am on Wednesday morning for a meeting. The day before, booked online a 6am pick up and received a confirmation. 6:05am Wednesday there is no sign of the cab so I call to see where it is. I'm told the online system isn't working and "hopefully" they could get a cab to me in a couple of minutes. Well guess what, I'm now an Uber user and fan. read more

Being a taxi cab driver is a spectacularly tough gig. Not only do you have to deal with a cross-section of characters from the underbelly of the city on a daily basis, but you also have to deal with the cold reality that your industry's days are clearly and irreversibly numbered. On a busy Saturday night, we mistakenly left a very expensive iPhone with a dead battery in a cab. The driver of Maple Leaf Taxi cab #431 went above and beyond, out of his way to find us the next day and made sure that we received the phone back. Once contact was made, he ensured that we were the rightful owners of the phone and that we were genuine in our pursuit of the missing property. He didn't have to do this. We offered a finders fee, which he refused, because he just was a genuinely good guy. If all taxi service was this honest and kind, the industry in the city wouldn't be in such trouble. I am very sad to say that whoever the dispatcher is at Maple Leaf Taxi should be fired I am actually disgusted we took a cab earlier this afternoon which was lovely and we paid our driver and my husband left his phone in the backseat of the car . We had a cup of coffee and realize he left his phone so we called The Cab Company and the dispatcher was rude crude and had a bad attitude I simply asked the guy to get the driver to call us since we are regular customers and he said he would but it never happened and now it's been like 5 hours later and still no phone call from the driver so I called the dispatcher again and he clearly is not Canadian he clearly isn't immigrant and he clearly just has his own way of doing his own business which is not Canadian and I'm so sorry to say you should not be an employee dealing with customers because customers need to talk to the business and you simply have an attitude and don't want to hear anything but your own voice in your own head I am simply disgusted and so disappointed I don't know who you are or who you think you are but shame on you read more

I was driving 60km/hour in a 60km/hour zone. A Maple Leaf Taxi cut me off with no signal and zero space and slowed to 20km/hour. It is just as dangerous to speed as it is to suddenly impede traffic like that. When I called the phone number to let them know what was going on, the guy had the nerve to yell at me saying people cut him off all the time and who does he have to complain to. This company says they are all about courteous service and they treat other drivers like this? Are they somehow immune to rules of the road?? read more

Car was filthy, driver barely spoke English, didn't seem to know where he was going (it was an address on the same street I was picked up on!) "Smoke-Free" cab reeked of stale cigarette smoke & was like sitting in an ashtray! Maple Leaf's reputation as THE WORST Cab Company in Toronto is well deserved, bad drivers, dirty, stinking, smoky cars, it's a mystery how they're still in business! read more

Don't bother booking a scheduled pickup. It won't come. Just call an Uber. Or literally any other taxi company.

I found this cab company by using the #TAXI service. They came fairly quickly but unfortunately our elevator in the building broke down and I wasn't able to come down right away. I phoned to inform the dispatcher about our problem. When I got downstairs, our cab had left. The dispatcher rudely said that she would not be sending another cab and hung up the phone on me mid-sentence. Needless to say, I will not be using this company again. You're better off phoning Beck which seems to be the only cab company in the city with a semblance of good customer service. read more

Wish I could give them 0 stars!!! Had to be somewhere by 6pm. Husband called ahead of time to have taxi at our home by 5:40pm. Nothing. He calls at 5:46 and they tell him cab will be there in 3 minutes. Still nothing 7 minutes later. A taxi finally arrives by 5:59. 19 minutes late. When we were supposed to be at the restaurant! Forced to flag a cab because TTC was down again yesterday. I lost my wallet with a number or important documents, credit cards and all my ID plus cash. The taxi driver drove to my house and left a note with his number. I called and he brought it to my work with EVERYTHING still in it. He could have just called the dispatcher and reported it but he went out of his way to help me. I couldn't thank him enough!! read more

Despite all the reviews, i had a very positive experience with Maple Leaf taxi. I left my wallet in the car and after sending an email to the office on a stat holiday the manager responded to me and told me he was looking into it. He followed up with the drivers number and had him call me to drop the wallet back off. He did so and did not ask a fee. I was very impressed with the extra effort they made. My wallet had all my personal affects, a 100 dollar gift card and all the cash still Thank-you!!!!! read more

WAS a regular customer. Called for a cab and the dispatcher said ok 10 minutes and hung up. Waited over half an hour and no cab showed up. When I called back to find out where the cab was the company told me they were busy and didn't know when the cab could come. When I asked why I wasn't initially told that during the first call so I could find a company with available cabs they said go ahead call another company and hung up. I WAS an every other day customer. Can't imagine what they treat new customers like. NEVER calling them again. read more
