I had an awful experience with Royal Taxi tonight. It is Nuit Blanche in Toronto, which means that cabs all over the city are incredibly busy, so when I finally found an unoccupied one, I was extremely relieved. You can imagine how upset I was when then, once I sat in the cab, the driver said "Miss, you better have cash because I can't take debit." I told him I didn't have cash, then I politely pointed out that he had a sticker on his window informing customers that he does take credit/debit, and he immediately got angry with me and said "Get out of the cab then. Find another driver, because I won't drive you."
I understand that cash is preferred by cab drivers, but I should never have been unceremoniously kicked out of a cab because the cab driver didn't like my method of payment. I was so shocked at his reaction that I didn't think to note down his name, otherwise I absolutely would have filed a complaint about him. It is the rudest, most unpleasant experience I have ever had in a cab.
I ended up getting picked up by a Beck taxi who saw me getting kicked out of the Royal taxi. Apparently my new driver had seen the Royal taxi driver do the same thing to someone else a few minutes earlier. Clearly he was trying to hand-pick customers to suit his needs. It was a terrible customer service experience. I understand that cab drivers should have the right to ask someone to leave their cab if they feel uncomfortable or threatened by them, but I did not say or do anything to incite this rudeness and anger from him.
I am incredibly enraged by this experience, and I will definitely not be using Royal taxi again, nor will I ever recommend the company to anyone. read more
