Authentic Indian (American) restaurant. Indian music playing, and smells good walking in. Nobody else here, but we're in early. Started with chai and samosas. Then lamb curry (chef Punjabi style). Wife got the chicken pasand. The samosa very tasty... just a bit of heat to temper the spices. None of it was over done. Wow! Okay the meal was great. The curry was spice level 2-3 and the chicken was spice 1-2. Could have been hotter. But was ooooh so tasty. Rosey, the owner came by and checked on us. Super sweet and very welcoming. Tried this place after years of passing by. What was I doing before not stopping here. Hostess/sever was super friendly, gave good recommendations and was very helpful in deciding what to get. Disappointing lunch. Would not return. Customer service was terrible. I entered. The 2 ladies stared at me. I said hi. They said hi and continued to stare at me. I said 1 person, can I be seated. They seemed irritated that I was there, She grabbed menu, said nothing, walked to a table and put the menu down for me. I looked at menu and ordered. She said ok. I was sitting waiting and the other lady answered the phone she was taking an order from a customer and rolling her eyes. The First Lady brought my food said here. After my food was served, they never came back to check on me at all. Never said anything to me. I went to pay and she said the total and tap here. I said I have cash and she sighed and took it. Food had ok flavor but serving size was horrible. I ordered butter chicken. I received a small bowl of butter chicken. Sauce was good but there were only 4 tiny bits of chicken for the whole meal! I got a bowl of rice and 1/2 of a naan. Naan was overcooked, tasted like a bland cracker. The naan had no flavor at all. I had mango lassi which was good. When I paid, they over charged me. Menu said $9 for the meal and $3 for the drink. they charged $11 for the meal and $4 for the drink. On their website, google page, and Facebook page they show a lunch buffet but there was no lunch buffet. They need to update that. read more

Addendum: the real manager/owner reached out and apologized profusely, giving my husband and I a credit and letting us know this is not how they run their business. Hopefully what happened below is an anomaly and won't happen to anyone again. I bumped the stars up to five star because that's what the food is and if everything is fixed, this is a nice place to eat. Peace. I'm writing this review because the manager rolled her eyes at me. The food was excellent. That's not the point. We live 40 mins away from this Indian restaurant and my husband called at 1:25 to ask when they closed. "Three o'clock", the voice replied. We got there at 2:40. A little late yes, but other restaurants in the area seat until closing time so we didn't think there was a problem, especially since when we called we had been told they close at 3. (Note: after writing this review my husband assured me the person he spoke to said, "the buffet ends at 3"). "We stop seating at 2:40." They said. The exact moment we walked in they stopped seating. This was weird. "We just drove 40 mins to get here" I said. We explained we had called and no one told us they stopped seating earlier than 3pm. They let us eat, but explained that there would be no new food on the buffet. That was fair. At 10 after 3 my husband was still finishing eating. He was almost done. "It's really after 3 guys, we all want to go home." A server I assumed was the manager said firmly. We apologized and said we were almost done. I suggested though that next time instead of saying "we close at three" to say "we stop seating at 2:40." "Well what time did you call?" She asked. I wasn't sure why she asked that question. She said, "Because at any restaurant they're going to stop seating before closing time." We told them Essenhaus seats till closing and my husband remembered Olive Garden does too. I said I've worked in customer service 30 years and the correct customer service answer is, "we stop seating at 2:40" because otherwise people will think they can come in until 3." The woman rolled her eyes at me (that was what made me mad... ) and said, "I'm sure since you've worked THAT LONG in customer service you'd say we're open until 3pm." I said no, I would tell the customer the truth so they didn't make a long trip thinking they had the time. She grimaced snootily and walked away. My husband and I love Indian food and we have many friends who do. We'd love to come back here, but I would like a formal apology from this rude individual and I'd advise staff start saying "we stop seating at 2:40" so people don't have these misunderstandings in the future. I was visiting my dad and was happily surprised to see a Indian restaurant in Goshen. I've lived in the SF Bay area for the last 9 years and we have some great Indian restaurants here. The service at this place was not friendly. I asked the woman who took our order where she was was from because my BF is from Kolkata, so I tried to engage her and told her how happy I was to see an Indian place in Goshen. One word answers and she mainly stared at me. I ordered carry out (butter chicken, naan, rice, tandoori chicken) and we ended up throwing most of it in the trash because the food was bad. The curry tasted bad - was probably the worst curry I've had in years - and was really thin and watery. Seven the naan was bad and it's hard to mess up. Maybe they were just having a bad day. I can't speak to the ambience since we didn't dine in. I will not return. read more

Maple was a surprising find in cute downtown Goshen. I had resigned myself to a boring dinner and didn't expect that Indian would even be an option. Anyway, it was pretty good! First, the space is simple, clean and inviting. The staff is super nice and helpful - they assume that folks are perhaps unfamiliar with Indian cuisine and they're ready and willing to give explanations and recommendations. So that does set the stage - flavors here are definitely muted to some degree. I assured them that I really did want my dish HOT and it was probably "medium" at best, but that's ok. Now - my curry was beyond ample in terms of portion and absolutely loaded with big chunks of good quality meat - you could totally split this. My roti was beautifully crisp and chewy and their mint chutney was lovely. Was it the best Indian ever? No - but it was way better than I expected and a really pleasant surprise. If you're on the fence about checking this place out, definitely do it. You'll be made very welcome no matter if you're a newbie or a regular enjoyer of this delicious cuisine. read more

Floors were sticky as we walked in, bathroom faucet barely worked and overall poor experience. The butter chicken had leftover irregularly shaped chunks of random chicken, some tandoori, some not. Server wasn't friendly and stared from register as we ate, definitely need some training on professionalism. She clearly didn't want to be at work. I really enjoy eating at Maple Indian. Living in downtown Goshen, I visit quite frequently. If you're new here, I would recommend something simple to start such as Chicken Tikka Masala, or butter chicken. The garlic naan and the veggie platter are my favorite "sides/appetizers" I also recommend those. Honestly everything I've tried here has been great. There's nothing I haven't tried that I didn't like. Everything is full of flavor. It's fun to go with a group and order different plates and share. I wish they still had the buffet, hopefully one day soon!! My husband and I also had our rehearsal dinner here and it was in a beautifully decorated back room with plenty of room. We ordered a variety of items and did a buffet style and it was a lot of fun. I'm rating 4 stars because of 2 reasons: 1, the prices seem to keep increasing since I've been living in Goshen for 3 years. It's quite an expensive meal. And 2, when you order takeout (which we mainly do) the meal has slowly become smaller. Less meat, maybe 4-5 chunks at best in a ton of sauce. Maybe it's because I use to get way more so I notice the difference now but for a $15 meal, lately it's just not always worth it. BUT I still do eat here at least once a month and it's always so good. I never regret it. I will always recommend this place to everyone and it's the best Indian food I've ever had. One more thing, the owners are extremely nice and just want you to enjoy the food they put their heart into. Nothing is thrown together here. Just had a DELICIOUS takeout meal at Maple Indian Cuisine. Not sure what to order because it's Indian? Start with a veggie samosa (think fried pierogie) & garlic naan flatbread, chicken tikka masala. I wanted to like this place. So great to have an Indian restaurant in Goshen. I ordered the butter chicken. The sauce was delicious but I'm guessing that they put their leftover tandoori chicken in the sauce. I guess that might be ok if I hadn't had to pick small bones, skin, and gristle out of my mouth four times. Awkward and not pleasant. The service was friendly and attentive. Very fresh, very flavorful and hot means hot, go with a less intense measure of heat. Enjoy the robust flavors and a mango tassi to refresh your palate. Located downtown in a historic building and very clean with attentive staff. Only one dinner item came on a smaller portion, would be nice to have more options than Tandori Chicken. The rice was a tad older and clumpy, but worked. I am certain they would have replaced it. There are extensive options to choose from. Been to Maple a half-dozen times in the last two years--we're RVers that stop by when we're in the area. Service super disappointing today. Asked for separate checks (2 couples). Didn't indicate a problem but no separate checks at cash register. Ordered a dish from menu and got the response "I need the number!" Ordered a beer and got 4 Dixie cups. Water came in glasses. Got the stink eye when I asked for a glass. After the order, she came back and said "Number 57 not available! What do you want instead?" Answer: "what WAS 57, and we need the menu back to give you a new number." Lamb Vindaloo about 15 min later than the rest of the six dishes. Clearly forgotten. Only one other table there at 2pm, not overly busy. We'll be back next year. Food fantastic and quite a find in Goshen. Just need some serious waitstaff training. read more

High quality northern Indian style cuisine with a clean and spacious dining room. Portion sizes are generous and the flavors were excellent. Saag and Naan were highlights of the meal. The spice level is muted, likely for the audience, so if you are into spice your may need to be assertive about asking for it. read more

I was here last summer. This is the best Indian Restraunt around. The one in Mishawaka I did not care for on Edison Road. The one in St Joe Michigan on Niles Ave had a small Buffet and the Owner was not very pleasant to me nor did the food have enough slices for me This place has excellent service and the food is great. I love that they have a metal plate that separates the different foods so they don't run together. The buffet this week has a lot of my favorite food on it. This restaurant only exists because it is in a small town with de minimis competition and patrons lack knowledge on proper Indian cuisine and service. Issues: -Employee confirmed via phone our dietary needs would be met with ease. They were wrong and one of us only had one option which took nearly an hour to craft. Don't lie to customers and drop the sales pitch. -Server spilled food on me and the stain will not come out of my shirt. Vikings have better etiquette. -Invest the time to clean your operation. The floor was sticky and there were countless flies all over. And not just the trash flies--large bees that got caught in my wife's hair. I sympathize with the ongoing plight of the service industry (hence two stars v. one star rating) but that cannot yield a blank check for subpar service and/or false promises.
