The problem is that…read more(1) the majority of them sell your standard mass produced wine and beer; (2) the owners have both a limited knowledge of their product and (3) they are unwilling to venture out and carry a larger selection local (state/region) wine, beer and spirits. I will admit to patronizing several of them, but my search for a local liquor store as ceased with the discovery (and more frequent patronization) of Townline Discount Wines & Liquors, which surpasses them all. Yes, they carry a wide range of mass produced wine, beer, and spirits but they also carry some unique selections, all at competitive prices. They also have a good selection of local, craft and small batch beer (which I appreciate more and more). In addition to the selection, they get high marks from me for their customer service. The owners have always been very friendly, helpful, and accommodating, even going as far as to offer to purchase a varietal of wine not on their shelves. Now that's customer service!

I placed an order over the phone and picked it up. fine experience, and i thought the selection was nice; made a note to return when in the area. obviously the other big background we all know is that Covid is still a big deal so i try very hard to give everyone more than 6' of personal room, and expect the same, especially from staff. i wear mask always when in shops and downtown areas. this past 1st weekend of April, i found another bottle on their site i wanted and decided to stop in. it was midday on Friday, four men are inside, none seem to be shopping, but none greet me. i recognize one as the man who was there last time and he's the shortest one so we'll call him Shorty. not seeing the bottle i sought, i caught attention of one of the men and asked: 'are you shopping or do you work here?' he didn't really reply so much as throw up his hands and look confused, but then Shorty yelled from the front, 'i can help you, sir' and rushed back. He immediately got within 6' of me. i began backing up, and he kept up with me until i said, 'could i please have 6' of space'. this seemed to irritate him, but he went to look for the bottle. i wanted to check out their Loire chenin, and once the aisle was clear i went in. after a few moments of browsing i go to leave and see that one of the men is standing at the end of aisle to my right. just standing there. ok... i turn left. another man is standing at that end of the aisle too. again, just standing there. there is no room to get out. then, i notice that the other two employees are in the aisles above and below my aisle. so in a (est.) 40' x 25' space, EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE is within approx. 6' and i have no where to go. i'm a little frustrated, but i stay calm and say, 'guys, i need some more space please. i can't leave the aisle right now. could i get some more space please?' the wardens at the end of the aisle move, but Shorty screams, 'WE HAVE TO DO BUSINESS HERE, SIR.' (the sir is dripping with disdain in his tone.) i turn and say, 'Why are you yelling at me? I understand business; I just wanted space." he repeats: ''WE HAVE TO DO BUSINESS HERE, SIR.' 'do you always scream at customers? do you think i want to shop here now?' he's a broken record, 'WE HAVE TO DO BUSINESS HERE, SIR.' he is incredibly hostile, irrationally so. meanwhile, none of the other employees seem to think this inappropriate. i will admit, i lost my cool here and crossed a line. i told him to go fuck himself. to this another employee says, 'well now we're not going to sell you anything'. my reply, 'fuck all of you too; i do not want to shop here!' i am sorry that i swore at you all, but the outright disrespect and hostility i encountered pushed me over the edge. BUYER BEWARE. STAY AWAY.

There is a separate room for cigars, coolers for mixers, and smaller shopping carts. The guys working kept offering help, but I shop by price point so not much to look for. On the plus side, they do have multiple price points from $10 for a bottle to over $100. They also have coolers of beer in the back. Selection is otherwise predictable, prices seem okay. Ice is available in a cooler outside.

I have been a long time customer (mostly via delivery). This…read moreweek I did not receive my entire delivery. When I received my order I immediately checked it and realized a $20 item was missing. By that time the driver had pulled away. Right away, I called Forest City to explain, and I asked if they could contact the driver? The woman on the other end was so defensive and rude. She yelled over me "we've delivered to you before, we know your order!". I was mindful about never blaming them, because I honestly felt the driver just accidentally left part of my order in the car. I calmly told her that I know it must be the drivers error. Can we contact him? I also said "I just want to receive what I paid for". Her response was to hang up on me!!!!! A minute later she called me back and yelled at me that the reason she hung up was because I asked "too many questions" (Um... I only asked if she could contact the driver??) and told me she had to hang up because she had "real" customers in front of her and "didn't have time to talk to me". She hardly let me get a word in. I stayed calm and quiet and let her rant about how "they have cameras" blah blah blah. In the end I told her I would just never shop there again. That seemed to offend her, so I politely ended the call and said "good night" A $20 error us not worth my energy, but her horrible customer service lost her a long term customer. Good thing their competition will happily accept me as a customer. I'm really disappointed by the horrible service I received.

I had been searching for a specific rum all over CT now that not even total wine had (and they have everything) so I was pleasantly surprised when i found it. Even more so by how friendly the guy behind the counter was, he said if there was anything I ever wanted all I had to do was ask and he could get it for me, and that is exactly the type of customer service you can expect at this place. The layout itself is really nice, very well kept and clean, if you need cash theres an atm, and theres a bag policy too so make sure not to bring in a big bag unless you want to leave it at the counter. There's also a website and app for added convenience, and they host events sometimes too. Truly a one stop shop for all your liquor needs, specialty or otherwise.

Last night I was on Pratt to watch the Yard Goats game and we decided to go inside. The staff was super friendly and helpful, even when there was some indecisive minds in my group. I was able to find some pretty affordable sake, and the cashier even suggested some new and popular wines that they have, which I thought was nice.
