I absolutely love this yoga studio. I had been looking for a studio offering gentle and restorative…read moreclasses for quite some time, and I am so happy to have found them here. I drive about 30 mins. each way, but they are so worth it. The space is cozy, with two main studios, two nice restrooms stocked with hygiene supplies (I just think this is a nice touch), and a welcome area with cubbies for your shoes that smells like incense, and where you are always warmly welcomed. Sometimes instructors invite you to choose an intention card. The studios have adjustable lighting and overhead fans, and there are plenty of props available (you can bring your own mat or rent one). There is an interesting plumbing system in the building where pipes sometimes make burbling water noises. Rather than being a distraction, I find this actually oddly comforting -- sounds like gushes of rainwater or something. My favorite classes so far are Mindful Movement & Meditation, which involves 30 minutes of gentle stretch and 30 mins of meditation (this formula is my personal idea of heaven!), and there's also a Nervous System Reset taught by Sam Pullen, which must be experienced to be understood. It's an interesting somatic-style healing experience that will leave you wrung out but peaceful. Every instructor here has unique gifts and something to offer you, if you show up with an open heart and mind. The only tiny detractors for me: parking can be an issue (you battle for space with ACC in the attached garage--though students are not supposed to park there, they do, anyway), and it can be difficult to navigate the My Vinyasa Practice website to find the class schedule and sign up for classes -- I get the sense the studio heavily leans towards teacher training, and markets those classes primarily.

She helped me to rent a mat for free because it was my first visit. Then, she informed me about other classes at Pure, as well as a tour of the facility. The free mat was perfect for what I needed. There is an eyelet on the top left side of the mat, and that is where you lay the mat down in the room. I asked if the spots were reserved ahead of time because they do that at other studios, but there is not need to reserve a numbered spot - it just helps with mat placement and ensuring that people have enough room to move uniformly. I love that! I hate a crowded hot yoga room. The studio is surprisingly cleaner than most hot studios. There is a hydration station to refill your water bottle, which is nice because you aren't forced to purchase water. The restroom is really clean. I haven't seen gym showers that clean even at Equinox in California which I thought that the 3 SF Bay Area locations had nice enough showers. You are limited to a 3 minute shower here at Pure, but that's fine for a quick rinse and it's great when you have to share and are waiting for another person to finish, but they are taking forever to finish. The class itself was a nice succinct Bikram yoga class with the same 26 postures in 60 minutes instead of 90. Beth was a wonderful instructor who gave me a little trinket after my first class. I'm very excited to visit again on the traveler's pass!

That's a plus and they really focus on your mental game alongside the physical stretching. There's fast paced flow or long deep yin yoga stretches. Whatever floats your boat, and you can sign up easily on the website or walk in. THE FINAL BAMBOO: A donation is voluntary here and the instructors here deserve it. Great classes that are pretty much on every hour with the room being consistently hot.

I initially signed up for the 10-day trial for $10 and knew after just a few classes that I had found my new yoga home. I'm reserving the 5th star until I take one of their regularly scheduled classes. I didn't even know until I saw this special event advertised that Bodhi had opened a new location. Years ago I used to be a regular at the downtown location, but the classes got so crowded that I eventually looked for other studios. According to a classmate of mine this morning, the classes at the new location are still pretty small since they just opened. Even though it is a bit of a haul for me to get out there, it might be worth it to take a more intimate class with some of the instructors that I loved from the original location. This studio also has a small boutique and cafe in the front and the studio itself is really nice and clean with a wall of windows. I did find it funny though as we talked about taking life slower and not getting caught up in the rat race of life that I was looking at the sign for Best Buy in the reflection of the mirror.
