I tried the special when I was in the Hyde Park area this summer and went to as many classes as I could fit in. I go back now when I am in the area or when I have out-of-town yoga-loving friends who I want to impress. I took a friend who is a New York yoga teacher, and she was totally won over. Same reaction from several other friends I have brought with me to a class at ISY. The owner's artistic abilities shine in this place. I remember loving the GREEN that is in the studio with beautiful plants in the entrance area. Laura's classes were OUTSTANDING. She courageously started the studio and lends her love of the practice to everyone who walks in the door. She has created an environment, a space to be completely relaxed and go deep into the practice (if that's where you are) or dip your toe into what yoga is all about. She is so thoughtful and kind with her instruction and demeanor. All the teachers were welcoming. I learned something new or heard an instruction in a new way and would return again to any of their classes. I would highly recommend Kelly. Her brilliance in the art of yoga is only matched by her caring instruction and dedication to her students. If you can make her classes here or see her name on a line-up at another studio or yoga event- you want to do yourself a favor and GO! The space and instructors are warm and welcoming, making everyone feel at home. I wish the schedule was a bit more robust with a wider variety of classes, but I appreciate that most classes are small and the quality of instruction is high. They also offer free community classes on the full moon each month, which is a great opportunity to get a feel for the place and experience the energy. I'm so grateful we have such a top notch Kundalini center in KC!

I've done yoga before and actually had a membership at a yoga studio in LA in the past, but after not doing it for 2 years, I was a little apprehensive to get back into it. Luckily, the instructor today was very chill and gave a class fitting to beginners and more geared for a relaxing time than an intense strength/endurance test. She was very clear with the instructions and with only 9 attendees there, she was able monitor us and made comments/tips to help us get the best out of the class. She was very personable, nice and had lovely stories to share. It was a very personalized class as opposed to feeling like she made it the same for every class. All the mats, blocks, straps, blankets, and pillow were available to use for class. Perfect for those who don't have all the equipment! Facility was clean and the bathroom was clean. The Yelp KC Community Coordinator, Kieu, provided healthy snacks and drinks after the class. Thanks for making this event possible! It was a donation yoga class, but I like how the instructor didn't hound us on giving a tip or donation. She just made it an option if we could, which was nice. I did end up tipping and luckily she took credit cards!

I am not very flexible or balanced but it didn't matter! We had props to help and make us feel comfortable. Our class was very relaxed, not super full and relaxing. Our instructor chose to do a more beginner level / relaxed class since some of us hadn't done yoga before. As usual, the instructor was in the front of the class but she still made her way around the room. If one of us was doing a position incorrectly or needed a little guidance, she was gentle in handling​ and helping us. I didn't feel silly if I fell over or had her come help me. They had mats, blocks, straps and blankets available​. Which, thank goodness, because I don't own any of these! After the class, our coordinator had snacks and drinks set up for after the class. I'm very glad the class wasn't canceled due to the scary weather and I will for sure be looking into taking up some classes here!

The yoga practice starts slowly and works to more difficult poses before coming down to a period of relaxation and centering to end class. I enjoyed the class a great deal. It was a good work out and it was calming. Most important as a beginner, it was a very inviting environment and I was quickly at ease in the class. The space for the class is very nice with space for everyone in the class and good sight lines to Darryl. The other patrons in the class were all super friendly and nice. The classes I took during the week tended to be a little bit easier, as they were being held late in the day. The Saturday class took the intensity up a notch and really was a good work out. But the beauty of yoga is that you can take it at whatever pace works for you. Some people were doing the more advanced variations while others of us were doing the simpler versions. I'd definitely recommend the class. I've also gone to KCFitnessLink for massages. They are fantastic. They have a terrific rate for first time visits which is what got me to go in the first place. I promptly went back twice more within about a month. Darryl was a great masseur. At the end of my hour, I felt amazing. He tailored the pressure and some of the other elements of the massage (oil vs. lotion, etc) to my needs and it was perfect. Again, the space is calming and inviting. It was the first massage I'd ever gotten and I was immediately hooked. All told, my experiences with KCFitnessLink have been excellent. Their rates are pretty much in line with what else you can find from any quality option. They are easy to find in KCK and from my place near downtown KCMO was just a few minutes away. The teachers thoughtful adapt poses for your specific needs and develop a practice that prepares your baby and body for labor. Attending these yoga classes was so beneficial for my mind and body - they were a dedicated time for me to connect with my changing body and really think through how I wanted to approach birth for my second child. If I could recommend one thing to any pregnant person in KC it would be to attend these classes. They are incredibly welcoming, informal, and you come as you are. I have now also attended the Bring Your Own Baby class as well as Storytime Yoga with my toddler. I recommend them as well!
