She LOVES Key Lime pie so each year I try to get her a pie from a new/different local bakery, whether at home or traveling. Using Yelp/Google I found Pamela of Mountain Flour Bakery and asked if she could make us a Key Lime Pie, she said no problem. Pick-up was a breeze at the local supermarket and the pie was the BEST my wife said she ever had. I can't thank you enough for helping her have a great birthday and making such a great pie. My only wish is that we live closer so we could try more of your baked goods. Thanks so much Will

I wanted to because I loved my dad, so I kept on trying to no avail. Well last week while on a trip to visit family I stumbled upon the Alpine Pantry and Bakery in Flintstone Maryland. On a whim I decided to try their version of old fashioned fruitcake. First of all it looked like it was full of nutty and fruity goodness. Long story short, I loved it! The fruit actually looks and tastes like fruit, and the whole cake was loaded with fruit and nuts throughout. I live just outside of DC so I plan on ordering some for the holidays to share with friends and family.

The staff is charming and one of the bakers was shaping dough for fry pies by hand when we arrived. We learned that they only make donuts for the weekends. Fresh breads, cookies and apple dumplings were ready, however. We picked up a couple fry pies. Fry pies are handheld half-moon shaped crust filled with a fruit preserve. The crust on the fry pies was flakey with a delicious and light sugar glaze. The fillings were a perfect blend of tart and sweet. I had blackberry filling and my husband had the strawberry rhubarb pie. There is no on site seating for eating. I didn't see coffee available. This is strictly a bakery. Prices are reasonable. We were visiting from DC and it was about what we'd expect to get in DC. We asked for help and nobody seemed to be available to offer or even give us any guidance. I know they must be understaffed but it's not great customer service. We will say that the inside country market looks great. I liked all the fresh vegetables and Pennsylvania baked goods for sale. I grew up in PA so love tasty Amish baked goods and the usual PA foods you'd find in that area. If coming to the market, this is probably a good experience. Looking to buy plants? Not the place, especially if you have any questions. Highly disappointed with that and ended up heading north to Spring Farm Nursery where they went above and beyond in helping us.
