This is one of the two local Mexican restaurants in town. Had lunch here today and the quality of the food was subpar and the price for the quality of food you get isn't worth it. Service was decent and the waitress was polite but if you're looking for decent Mexican food, I'd recommend driving to Livingston where the better restaurants are located. This place really isn't worth the money and when I got home I started feeling nauseated. read more

Looks small on the outside but bigger on the inside. All the furniture has their logo on it. The server had us laughing the entire time. The food was fine. Nothing amazing, nothing bad. The salsa tasted like tomato paste, the food was served cold and probably could've gotten better meal from a tv dinner. The booth seats were wobbly and we spent the entire meal with someone slamming into the backs of our chairs....the hostess was nice. read more

The place didn't look open (open sign was off) but they are open from 11-9 on Saturdays. The hostess was nice but quiet. Our waitress said about 3 sentences to us. 1. Do you know what you want? 2. Is that everything (when she delivered our food). 3. You're welcome... That's its! I don't think there is any language barrier! We both ordered a margarita and my husband finished his pretty early and she NEVERA asked him if he wanted another, never asked if we wanted more chips we had to flag her down after her 5-6th time of walking past us just to ask for another napkin. Extremely disappointed in the service. The food .... The food was pretty good I got the chicken fajita lunch plate and the chicken had some good flavors (this is what saved a star in my rating). I asked for charro beans in place of refried and you can tell its canned beans... Nothing fresh about them... Overall not a bad flavor but they don't taste like Mexican charro beans... They remind me of the beans you would get from a bar-b-que place (not the baked beans) Anyhow it might be the last time we come here or if we do come back we will specifically request not to be seated in her section. (By the way I would love to provide a name but we didn't tell us and they don't wear name plates) So we go to check out and the other hostess hesitated and asked how everything was so I responded with the food was good but the service could have used some improvements to which I received crickets in response for quite some time (long enough to to push buttons and swipe a card and get a receipt) until my husband said "oh she doesn't care" .... Then she spoke up and said its not that don't care but I'm not the manager and there's nothing I can do about it. When the reply SHOULD have been I'm sorry to hear about that I'll let the manager know. This would/could have saved the whole trip but NOPE. I will not return!!! I give this place a grade of B minus. I find this appropriate since the three words I am going to use to describe this place also start with B's: BORING, BASIC & BLAND. Let's dig deeper. BORING I understand that small little mom and pop places such as these don't have the finances to provide a five star dining experience to its customers, however with $50 and a trip to a Hobby Lobby this place could be elevated above the level it's already at. Tacky Mexican blankets act as blinds, while cheap border town pottery fill the walls that are already an eye sore due to loud gaudy paint choices. The silence and lack of music in the dining room only cause me to concentrate more on the imperfections of the establishment. Much like the noisy fridge they sat me next to that clearly needed some oil. BASIC Obviously I was not expecting much when picking a restaurant to dine at that was recently converted from a Dairy Queen. But the wait staff there made sure you got no special treatment. My waitress was Ashley, and she doesn't like to smile. She also doesn't like to refill chip baskets (even when asked) and she's not big on getting your order right. When I arrived she told us that the specials were #3 and 24. However from my experience specials usually aren't already on the menu and are crafted by the chef himself with seasonal resources. As my two guests ordered the specials, I ended up ordering the El Mante Special. The only thing special about these plates were that they came out about five minutes after being ordered. Which makes me wonder if the food was even fresh or prepared weekly. BLAND The beef that is used in 2/3 of their menu items was bland. Not even a hint of salt or pepper was present in the dreadful taste. The Guacamole has to be store bought. And the salsa has no kick. And this is coming from a leché! The rice and beans couldn't even save this dish from it's already doomed rating. All in all, I won't be returning to Mante's unless it reconverted back into the Dairy Queen. read more

This restaurant has really turned around, the last 5 times I have been there, all staff are friendly and helpful, the front patio got remodeled for outside shaded seating and they have updated the back room for birthdays and overflow of customers. The salsa for the chips, is less than okay. I'm a white boy. And I guarantee I can make better salsa. The charro beans we're very bland. Again this white boy knows how to throw down on a pot of beans. My rice was cold, the chicken Diablo was very good. My daughter's shrimp enchiladas were very good, the margarita was good. The atmosphere outside was good. Our waitress was very attentive. Nothing to write home to Mom about. I will go back, because I like the outdoor seating area where I can smoke and watch football or baseball. read more

The food tasted good, but our orders were messed up. Two of the people in our party got additional food that they didn't order and were charged for it anyway. We also had to ask several times for water, utensils, and napkins. There is no music playing and the room we were in was acoustic, allowing us to hear every sound. I mean every sound. Even the scoot of a chair was too loud. The staff was kind and indeed, the food was tasty, but the wait was horrendous. I tend to start my opinion of a Mexican food restaurant by their sausa. I should have left immediately after trying their's. It looks and taste similar to ketchup. The chips were stale and unsalted so we ordered queso to help. Queso was ok. I ordered taco al carbon with fajita beef which came with rice and kidney beans. No flavor to beef or rice and I passed on their beans. Prices are higher than any other Mexican restaurant that I have ever been too. Never to return. read more
