Tourist trap for the famous Pastéis de Nata?
Lining up together with throngs of tourists, anticipation was high for what some may call the best pastéis de nata in Porto. The charming and cozy atmosphere is nicely paired with a welcoming staff. The ordering process was efficient and we received our sweets hot from the oven. The feature that sets this Nata apart from the random patisserie was the filling. It was lush and decadent, while crust was flaky and balanced out the smooth custard. Topping it with cinnamon took this treat to a different level.
The 1.20 euro price tag was fair so we decided to take additional pastries to go. We were delighted to be offered a cute box for our prized goodies as take out. The packaging was not only aesthetically pleasing, but also kept our pastries fresh for the trip back to the United States.
