This was an awful gas station. If you found yourself in the same predicament as me and wanting to get to the car rental return quickly and having the bad fortune to choose this option - you have my sympathies. There's really not much of anything redeeming I can say about this place except for the location. My criticisms include: 1) limited space / crowded 2) Cost - was at least 30 cents higher than other stations in the general area - add another 20 cents per gallon for the credit card surcharge (that is in no way indicated on the signage) 3) Reliability of equipment - barely readable and scratched screen, receipt button that didn't work, slow pumping, etc. If you happen to have time to read a review (unlikely I know but here's hoping), skip this place and try a Wawa down the street or something. read more

I had been in the Westshore area to hit up the nearby Waffle House (which doesn't open for dine in until 6am!) and that delay gave me just enough time to remember that I still needed to top off the rental car before heading back to the airport. You can expect to pay an extra 20 to 25 cents per gallon for the location, a small premium that feels baked into anything this close to the airport. Swiping my credit card was easy enough and the pump started right away, though the receipt printer was out of service, which meant a quick walk inside to get a printed copy. Not the end of the world, just one of those small early morning inconveniences that you hope won't slow you down too much. At 5:45 am, the area is quiet in that slightly uneasy way that comes with being awake before most of the city, so it's worth staying aware of your surroundings since there just aren't many people around at that hour. This is your basic, small gas station that lucked up on a prime location. The price was a little higher than other stations in the area. Between the businesses, hotels, airport, and rental car locations, there are always cars lined up to get gas from here. On the inside, they have a variety of food and beverage items, as well as beer and wine and other random gas station type items. Ask anyone if they know of a gas station on the northern end of West Shore Boulevard (north of I-275) and they'll usually give you a blank stare or a shrug of the shoulders. Now, if you happen to mention the Shell gas station that is literally right next door to Thee Doll House gentlemen's club you'll usually see a big grin followed by a *wink wink* reaction. Mansour's Shell sits right at the very busy intersection of West Shore Boulevard and Cypress Street, just a block or so north of I-275. If you're going south on West Shore, or west on Cypress it is pretty easy to pull into this station. Otherwise, forget it!!! During busy times of day there are lines of cars jockeying for position to get to an open pump, and it can get a bit heated when someone cuts you off. But for those lucky few, you'll be staring right at the front door of Thee Doll House, and you can watch the "entertainers" as they walk into the club at shift change. I'm told that there is a mini mart with a Subway restaurant inside this gas station, but I just can't bring myself to eat food within 100 feet of a gentlemen's club. No, I think it is safer to stay with your vehicle and just move along. If the owner ever needs help with a cross-promotional marketing campaign, I'm thinking that he could work something out with the club and offer free lap dances with your minimum 8 gallon purchase of gas. I actually go to this place because there is a pretty decent mini Subway Restaurant inside. The staff at the Subway is always friendly and quick about getting your order out. The only draw back is the fact that it is inside the gas station and you pay for your order at the gas station counter. The cashiers for the gas station are not as friendly. Also, I wish that the drink station for the Subway fountain drinks was separate from the gas station drink and coffee. This area tends to get a little messy with people spilling coffee and sugar. All in all, if you happen to be on that western most end of Cypress street and you want a quick, healthy, affordable meal that will allow you to get in and out without a hassle or long lines, this is it. Although I didn't go into the store located on this property, pumps were operational (if busy) and gas prices were reasonable considering this is one of the few and the proud that are in any way convenient to TPA airport if you renting a car. (If you are visiting the Tampa area and don't rent a car, I doff my hat at you since I can't imagine how else you'd be able to function unless your hotel has a decent on-site restaurant and a nearby convenience store -or- you truly enjoy long walks in hot, humid climes. The gas pump was SO slow - it took 15 minutes to fill the tank as the pump was inoperable. And, gas leaked all over our hands.

Took my money. The Indian guy or whatever working here shorted me on my lottery tickets the first day. I gave him 15$ for 5 3$ tickets but he gave me 3 of them. Place is okay, but the gas is very expensive because its so convenient - especially for rental cars.

I am extremely disappointed in the level of service at this station. I have three reasons for complaints here. Fraud, service, and broken items with no apologies. Yes, it's super convenient, but the fact that they were the hub for pump fraud (1k charge to credit card at pump thank god for fraud alert at my bank) but the final nail was service I didn't receive when I definitely needed help. It was raining and I stopped to put air in my tires, got $1.50 in quarters and the pump was malfunctioning and let air out of two tires. The spout wouldn't seal on the invalves. When I went in for help, I was told by Kaheem that no he couldn't help me. No he couldn't come out to see if the pump was malfunctioning as I'd stated, to which he also said it had to be my tires (which I went to another station and it worked just fine). He then told me the air pump wasn't his responsibility because it's a public service item. He wouldn't reimburse my money. I was very calm in all this never raising my voice, but even when I told him my tire was now less than 100psi and I was scared to drive it, he said he couldn't help. I am extremely disappointed in this station. I suggest you prepay gas and save all receipts, and don't depend especially on this cashier for assistance. The cashier couldve saved this rating if he had at least tried to come help me, offered a solution of some sort, reimbursed the money or at least offered apologies for the broken item and tell me it would be fixed so others wouldn't suffer. read more
