Even adding it up in front of him, the numbers still didn't come close to $18. I asked where the remainder was coming from, and he couldn't give me an answer. He just kept repeating that it was "what the register says." If one bagel comes out to $14.52, how exactly would two bagels be $18? Because the total made no sense and there was no explanation, I chose not to order and left. Later my husband went in and ordered the exact same Nova lox bagel and was charged about $12. When he asked why I had been told nearly $18 earlier, the employee said that I had ordered two bagels. That's simply not true. What's frustrating is that he presented it as though I ordered two bagels, not that two were accidentally rung up. If that was the issue, it could have been explained when I asked him directly at the register. What made the interaction worse was the dismissive attitude. I told him I come here all the time, order the exact same thing, and even have receipts showing the $14.52 total every time. Instead of trying to understand or look into it, he essentially shrugged and repeated that the register said $18. Customer service and word of mouth are everything these days.
