Mansfield Landscaping seems to be a company owned by Eric and Troy Mansfield. They also operated Welcome Home Landscaping. I'm not sure if that is still the case, but even though our invoice has been paid, they've notified my neighbor that they are no longer servicing our area. Calls are not answered, nor are text messages. They disappeared. When they did the work, it was good. But there is no communication and no service. And no refund. read more

Last spring we hired Mansfield Landscaping LLC to do work at our home. Part of the work involved removing a concrete slab that was along our canal shoreline and disposing of the concrete, then filling the area with soil. My husband and I were not present when much of the work was done. We later discovered that there was concrete from the slab in the canal and our neighbors witnessed the workers throwing the concrete in the water. We contacted Steve Mansfield, and he denied the concrete in the canal was put there by his subcontractor. He insisted that we needed to contact his subcontractor about this and gave us a phone number to call. We pointed out it is not our responsibility to resolve this problem. We insisted that we hired and paid Mansfield Landscaping, LLC to remove and dispose of the concrete, and we did not hire their subcontractors. After much arguing, my husband attempted to talk to Mansfield Landscaping's subcontractor about removing the concrete from the canal. They denied doing any work at our address. After many months of debate, Steve Mansfield agreed to pay for the removal of the material. We hired a crew to come and remove the concrete from the canal. Prior to starting the work, that crew estimated the cost, and we told Steve Mansfield the amount of the estimate. The two-person removal crew discovered much more debris in the canal than originally estimated. They had a third person with them on the second day of the work. Naturally, the cost exceeded the estimate they gave us and we, in turn, told Mansfield. We informed Steve Mansfield of the total cost, and he said he would send a check. Steve Mansfield sent a check for the amount of the original estimate, which was hundreds of dollars less than the actual cost. After approximately one year of regular watering and some fertilizing, our lawn looks terrible. Large voids opened near our seawall due to much of the concrete slab not being removed, as agreed. The sod used was of poor quality. Steve Mansfield would not stand behind the poor-quality materials and workmanship and blamed the failure of our landscaping on the hurricane. We are very disappointed with our expensive landscaping project. Would not recommend! read more

As I told the owner, Steve, today after completing the job, I'm not just happy...I'm thrilled! His crew worked tirelessly to replace some ugly, boring plants with some color. And to replace the old mulch (which was mostly dirt at this point) with some nice rocks. They added a small palm tree, curbing, and lighting to finish it off. Wow! What a difference! Just got off the phone with somebody from this business. They really don't want to come to your house until you tell them exactly what you want, and exactly how much money you're willing to spend. I tried for over five minutes to explain I wanted an estimate, but they just would not quit talking long enough to answer my question. I finally apologize for bothering them and hung up. This is solely based on my interaction with this company, and is my opinion alone. I've seen their work, it's beautiful, and professional. My problem with them is I had no way of knowing how much it was gonna cost until I got an estimate. They didn't want to give me an estimate until I told him how much money I wanted to spend. Overall good experience and happy (though not totally ecstatic) with the outcome. Just moved into the home recently and had some old and overgrown, scruffy looking landscaping out back. Wanted something cleaner and neater and allowing a nicer view of the pond from our lanai area. Steve came promptly to give an estimate, drew up a plan and we felt cost was reasonable for work involved and agreed to hire. Rip-out was done 2 days early but without calling to tell us of change in date. Planting was done in a timely fashion but did not really follow drawing exactly. All was fine, though, except I was not happy with the condition of the bird of paradise plants. Stated that on day of planting and later to Steve and was assured they would be replaced if they didn't "come back" nicely and I was not satisfied. One year guarantee. Should've been corrected then in my opinion, but I will hold them to replacing later if still not happy. Curbing looks great from a few feet away but definitely has some scratches and small gouges when viewed up close. To be expected and no big deal, I guess. Irrigation guy came and tweaked our system, and a couple of unsightly drain pipes were buried - all of which were very nice touches and appreciated. Would recommend and plan to hire them again to do front and side landscaping when finances permit. read more

Steve (claims to be the owner) showed up late however he did call. I had already contacted his office and followed up with an email weeks before stating that I would need to have HOA approval for the job. When he arrived he started in by accusing me of not listening and started, In a disrespectful tone, telling me that The Florida Landscape Law negates any HOA rules. I do not believe that to be true. Then he tells me that I wasted his time because he does not wait for HOA approval. I should have had that done before he came for the estimate. How do I do that without a plan to submit? We used Mansfield to landscape our large lot. When they came out to give an estimate, they offered a discount if you signed up immediately. Our mistake for getting pushed into signing! Once the project was complete, several plants died within one month. It took many phone calls to get the plants replaced and there was some urgency as they only offer a 3 month warranty(very low for the industry). They replaced the plants with much smaller plants than the originals. Had several conversations with the owner who was extremely rude and talked so fast it was hard to speak. When he finished yelling at you , he would hang up. Not sure how they stay in business. read more

Being new to the villages, we did a great deal of research for landscapers before choosing Mansfield. We were very impressed with completed work we saw on their website of homes in our area. We had the back yard space transformed from a minimally landscaped and useless area to a large, private space of paved patio surrounded by a seating wall. In addition, the area outside the patio was enclosed with large greenery that will only provide more privacy as it grows. They also trimmed three existing palm trees and provided landscape lighting. We now have a spacious area to enjoy the outdoors and entertain friends, not to mention the added value to the home. We were also pleased with how efficient the crews were; they showed up each day on time, and finished the job in a week. When we arrived at our villa in The Villages, we were shocked at how terrible the lawn in our courtyard looked. We required the help of a professional to completely make over our small 1000 sq. ft. courtyard. After checking out Mansfield's website, we dropped in at their nursery and showroom in Yalaha. We were immediately met by a friendly woman who told us to take our time and look around the outdoor showroom at the different rocks, plants, palms and pavers that were available. When we finished there, we went inside the showroom to meet with Steve Mansfield, the absolute genius and founder of the company. He came up with a creative plan to totally transform our backyard within our budget. Then he took us out into the huge nursery, getting a feel for what we liked and making helpful suggestions as to which trees and shrubs would work best in our small space. The project started after noon on a Tuesday when Steve's crew of five amazing workers removed all the existing grass, hauled and planted three huge palms plus four additional trees before they were finished that first day. Over 50 shrubs and plants were planted, several decorative walls had been built, and rock was ready to be brought in by the end of day two. On the final day, we came up with a plan to create a small flagstone patio that the amazing crew made a reality. They really seemed eager to please the customer and go the extra mile to guarantee our satisfaction. At the end of day three, our amazing project was complete, every bit of debris had been hauled away, the work area was neat and clean, and we couldn't be happier. Everyone who has seen the huge transformation of our courtyard can't believe it is the same place! This was easily the worst experience I have ever had with a company. I am not talking about just home improvement projects, I am talking about any company I have ever dealt with. I'd rather get a root canal or take a plane trip with multiple layovers than to ever deal with these jokers again. Rude, Rude, Rude. My husband spent 2 hours making a scale drawing of our yard including measurements. We were so excited to go and pick out plants for our house we just bought. He told us that he wouldn't answer any of our questions until we walked around and looked at the plants first and looked in his books of jobs that he had done. Maybe we didn't drive a fancy enough car or didn't dress properly.... too bad for him. We found a nice nursery on the way home and have given them the job. If i could give this company 0 stars, I would. A few days ago I called Mansfield about getting an estimate for sod and landscaping for my home. The women I spoke to told me someone would call me back to discuss an estimate. Two whole days later, I received a call from a man who proceeds to tell me he's been calling me and leaving messages (I have no missed calls or voicemails). Before I can even get a word out, he starts speaking incredibly quickly about my yard (that he's never seen and doesn't know the dimensions of) and other nonsense I couldn't even audibly understand. After trying to chime in about the dimensions of my yard, he proceeds to tell me that it will cost $10,000 to re-sod my yard. I told him I thought that seemed expensive and that we have gotten sod for much less. He then raised his voice and said, "well maybe that's why you have to re-sod your yard." After I calmly said that he is being rude and I'm going to hang up, he raised his voice even more and hung up on me. I have never in my life felt so disrespected and mistreated by someone who I am trying to give my business to. I am not usually one to leave a negative review as I am also in a service industry and can recognize that sometimes someone could just be having a bad day and my interaction with them might not be a true reflection of their character, but my interaction with this Mansfield Landscaping worker was so horrible and I felt I needed to warn others before they think about giving them their business. read more

I love my yard! I wasn't sure I would ever be able to say that. We moved to Florida a year ago and the yard had been neglected. We knew we wanted to add trees and plants but had no idea where to start. We really appreciate the knowledgable people at Mansfield Landscaping. From planning to planting it only took 3 days. My yard is so beautiful. Everyone was nice and very helpful. On the day of planting, we were surprised with the amount of plants that arrived at our home. We were able to walk around with the Mansfield employees and decide where to add additional color or variety. The estimate was right on and all work was completed on the day of delivery. The estimate included a sprinkler specialist. They came out the following day to adjust the sprinklers and add bubblers for the new trees. This assures everything is getting watered properly. Update to our plantings. A week after planting I was concerned about one plant losing some leaves. I had no idea I was in for a scolding. Had I known I was going to incite such a negative response, I wouldn't have called to ask for suggestions. I continued to water and everything is looking great, but the response to my follow up question was unnecessary. I'm still happy with my yard. I just don't think everyone is a good communicator and should not be dealing with the customer. read more

This week we had Mansfield Landscaping design and install an "Island Oasis" in our backyard in The Villages. They certainly met and exceeded our expectations for the goals we hoped to achieve. We decided to take up Steve on his offer to drive to Yahala to see his nursery and choose our plants ourselves. Good move on our part! He asked us to bring our lot plan and photos of our property. When we arrived for our appointment, first we sat in Steve's office and he went through a few concepts with us until we were satisfied with the plan. Steve listened to us as we described our wants and needs and he really heard what we were saying. After that he walked us around outside and assisted us in picking out the most appropriate plants for our job. As promised, prior to the install, Steve came out to our home with Ronnie, the head of his crew. They met with us to review and point out the areas of concern we had, and discuss the overall plan. On the scheduled day, Ronnie and his crew arrived with truckloads of trees and plants for us to choose from. We were very impressed with the the agility Ronnie had using their machine to move and position a triple trunk Sylvester palm to our satisfaction! When it came time to select the actual plants we wanted, Ronnie and his crew informed us about the growing habit and needs of each plant. We were able to make an informed decision about choosing the plants that would work best for us. Before they planted anything, they positioned each plant and waited for our approval. We were able to make sure that everything was performing its function as planned. Ronnie moved and switched out the plants and trees until we were complexity satisfied and gave him the green light to install everything. Everyone at Mansfield Landscaping was respectful and professional. Steve is a very talented landscape designer. They know what they are doing and understood our needs. When it comes time to design and install our landscaping in our front yard, we will gladly choose Mansfield again. We highly recommend them. read more

Mansfield guarantees to replace their plants for one year but they don't honor that. I have had ligustrums that they planted that lost all their leaves. They are supposed to be act as a privacy shield and they now have no leaves. When I called Steve, the owner, he was rude and said he wasn't going to replace them. This was not the first time he was rude and angry when I called. His son-in-law, Ronnie, is great. A real gentleman but dealing with Steve is terrible. read more

After our very expensive previous professional landscaping attempt for our newly constructed home turned into an overgrown, high maintenance jungle, and not at all what was envisioned or represented, we turned to Mansfield Landscaping. We were anxious when we made a call for an estimate because the choice was made entirely from the large selection of beautiful end result photos on the website. Frankly, as with most home improvement projects, we were expecting to obtain bids from others too. But we did not. We were immediately pleased with the suggestions made by Steve Mansfield and the bid was within our expectations. And then we noticed on our neighborhood message board that Mansfield was recommended over and over again by neighbors. There was a massive amount of tear out work, river rock installation, new planting's and edging work and the team worked diligently and professionally. We were pleased and amazed to see the beautiful transformation completed in 3 days.
