There was outdoor areas with lighting, but a tad too cold out. Cute areas though. They were pretty busy as well and luckily we got a good table. Wait staff were friendly, pace of service was a little slower than what I'm used to. Had to hail someone down quite a bit, but overall food was great. We started out with cocktails because there was a special, happy hour going on. Potted Devon crab with avocado guacamole and chicken liver parfait. Not sure why I expected the Devon crab to be hot.... but it was tasty. I craved a couple more pieces of toast. I got the duck leg confit with citrus sauce and my friend got St. Austell's Tribute Steak and Ale pie. The duck was delicious. Perfectly cooked, sauce went well with it. The Dauphinoise potato, I wanted more so badly. My plate was cleaned except for the bones. The steak and ale pie was not bad, my friend enjoyed it. We finished dinner off with their pistachio soufflé. I asked what was recommended for dessert, never had a pistachio soufflé before, and it was rich and sweet. Offset by the chocolate ice cream, which had a slight bitterness to it. Perfect combination. The table next to us got the chateaubriand for two. That looked amazing and had my mouth watering. If I'm ever back in the area, I do plan on making another trip hopefully.

This place definitely delivered. We sat outside in their pleasant garden. Only downside is it's not south facing so wasn't in the sun. We got a bit chilly after a while so we moved to one of their tables with a heater. Much more cosy. Service was very friendly. They brought some water and offered biscuits to our dog (always a winner). Food was excellent. The beetroot and burrata salad was particularly tasty and beautifully presented. Potted shrimp was also very tasty. It gets 4 rather than 5 because it is a little expensive. Worth it but still a bit pricey for a pub. We would definitely return if we were in the area as there were a lot of delectable sounding items on the menu.

It's…read morequirky and cosy; the food is good, the service is friendly; and the bill will make your jaw drop - but in a good way. I was taken there recently by a friend who lives nearby. The exterior doesn't prepare you for what you find inside - not that much could. What you find is an intimate space, decorated in dark reds with baroque panels, rather like the sort of small 18th century opera house you might find in Prague or Salzburg. There are even little balcony "boxes" with tables accessed by vertiginous stairs (NB not good for long legged or tall people). The food is a mixture of French and modern European. There are vegetarian starters and mains, but the menu is heavy on throroughly meaty dishes, such as char-grill Lamb Steak, with crushed new potatoes, julienne vegetables and green peppercorn sauce, or chicken breast stuffed with minted minced lamb, herbal mash and Port wine sauce. I had the grilled Portobello mushroom, prepared with garlic and served with spinach and a roast pepper sauce; followed by roast aubergine strudel, stuffed with grilled asparagus and ricotta cheese, served with French beans and a tomato and basil sauce. Service was very pleasant throughout and I like the fact that they don't charge for a basket of bread. The prices vary depending on whether you book before or after 7pm; you'll save a pound on the starter and a couple of pounds on the main course if you go before. We had a very decent French vin de pays as the house wine. Pleasanter still was the bill - £55 (including service) for three people each having two courses, after 7pm. I'll definitely go back - or maybe try one of their other branches...

His refined Continental European cuisine is reflected in his menu. The regular menu is supplemented by a prix fixe menu with some tasty choices. The individually crafted desserts are not to missed also. The service was impeccable by the suit & tie servers. With drinks came a board of house-made olive & raisin rolls. Our group of 5 started with a variety of appetizers and all were amazing. Highlights were the Grilled Cuttlefish, smoky in flavor over black wild rice and the twice-baked Cheese Soufflé. The soufflé had an amazing leek sauce. Our friend said her Roasted Jerusalem Artichokes was one of the best salads she's ever had. My son (restaurant namesake) went with a 3 appetizer array as his whole meal with Cheese Croquettes, Grilled Cuttlefish and the Devon Crab Tartare, which was a work of art and taste. The entrees were no less grand. My wife's Wild Sea Bass Fillet was perfect in every way. From the prix fixe menu, my Vienna Schnitzel was super crispy and accompanied by crispy roast potatoes & shredded cabbage. The schnitzel was topped by a rich heritage fried egg embedded with capers & anchovies with flavors that married well with breaded veal. Do not skip dessert! Though the BlackBerry Soufflé might take extra time, it is absolutely worth waiting for. The daily dessert was a Ginger Pudding, though in the UK, it's more a cake with vanilla ice cream and I loved it. For chocolate fiends, the Chocolate Pavé with Chocolate Crumble & Damson Sorbet is killer.

My friend and I arrived for a Friday night reso at 7:30, but it wasn't all that crowded. I don't understand why. The music was low enough to have a conversation. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. So I'm thinking it hasn't been open that long OR it hasn't been YELPED! We ordered a nice bottle of wine. I had the salmon and my friend had a steak. Both were cooked to perfection. The fish was just cooked through and still moist. The steak, well, disappeared pretty quickly so it must have been good! Sides of green beans and spinach were also done just right. Again, not overcooked and full of fresh flavor. I hope to go back again and try some of their other entrees!

So I was walking down Abbey Road and after a few minutes I came across Poem Bar & Grill. The restaurant looked nice and modern, the menu looked okay, so I popped in. It was already late and not too busy, but I instantly liked the restaurant. They have some modern paintings on the walls, played some music that matched the atmosphere of the restaurant and because they had a few doors open, it was warm with a nice and gentle breeze. In general the interior is modern and quite simple and clean. The food and wine were delicious! I went for their set menu and chose the spicy lamb sausages as starter and chicken with frites, as they call it, as main course. Despite I am not a big fan of lamb, I really liked these sausages. The chicken was tasty an came with a well balanced sauce. I also got a huge bowl of these yummy thin frites. Although I told the waiter when I ordered, that I don't know yet what dessert I want, I finally got the standard dessert. One standard dessert is included in the set menu, for the others you have to pay a bit more. Anyway, the dessert I got was very good, so I don't mind that I would have liked to choose something different. I guess I will go there some more times, so there are enough opportunities to try out other desserts... I read that they also offer breakfast with Jazz sometimes - that sounds good and I can easily tell that this was my first, but for sure not my last visit to Poem Bar & Grill! :)

Reminds me of some of my favorite New York, Vancouver, Vegas, L.A. trendy restaurants. I've now visited this restaurant multiple times, and have had almost everything on the menu. Nothing disappoints! The Sunday roast is one of the best in town (according to me - an American, and my British boyfriend). I recently had the Salmon Ceviche (which I usually avoid when I'm not exactly in a "seafood town/city"), and it was light, delicate, flavorful, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Can't wait to eat that again. They are constantly changing the menu, based on the seasons and trends (they offers Veganuary!), so you'll find new bites in addition to the ones you already love, when returning here. 4 seating/dining areas; entry bar & lounge, outdoor patio, small indoor/daytime seating adjacent to glass wall patio, back "fireplace" seating room, and the underground brick "tunnel" (my favorite), which used to act as a passage way for the Camden stables. I, personally, recommend this restaurant to all my friends (especially those who are foodies, looking for a thoughtful, well-executed, non-pub meal), all of whom have either been back or have been eager to return. Don't be deterred if you pop in and the restaurant is empty/slow! They have a lot of private events/bookings, celebrity dinner buy-outs and odd busy-seasons. Your meal will, hopefully, still be delicious and memorable. Dog friendly too! Like... my dog sits with me in the dining area (not just one of those "dogs only in the bar portion" places).

I noticed this place is not far away and we decided to to try it out. What a pleasant surprise. The lunch menu had three starters, three main courses and two choices of desert in them. The food was excellent, really really. And at 12,50 for a main course not expensive at all. We also tried some apple cider that the owner recommended that was fantastic. The Internet works well, and the toilets are clean. Note: this restaurant is in a basement but with a lot of light. Just that there is no 'view' if that is important to you.

Nevertheless, the food here did dissapoint as there was not much cuttlefish in the grilled cuttlefish dish whilst any meat in the whole grilled mackerel was spoilt by the incessant presence of many bones. This seemed to be a typical well-worn, working class neighborhood, so I was pleasantly surprised to stumble across this eatery/bar. The owners clearly spent a lot of time and money restoring the space, making it retro hip with beautiful tiles, old fixtures, lots of wood, glass and artsy lighting and stuff. You could plop this in Malibu and you wouldn't know the difference (except for Mel Gibson stealing your drinks). I stopped in to get out of the rain and to have a beverage, and somehow got into a conversation with others there. It turns out they were having a birthday party there and invited me to join them. When a group of pretty ladies is asking you to hang out, it's tough to say no. I tried some of the food, served farm-style, and it was excellent. Plus the staff were nice and quick to help. I'm now living in Central London but will be happy to venture back out to the Alice House for a meal or drinks... it's well worth a little journey (as in travel and not the group).
