He was going to be realeased from rehab after being there a month and it was recommended he be placed in an Adult Family Home. I was referred to Jessica at Alderwood Senior Care Advisory Service. From the first phone conversation, through placement, and beyond, I felt like I was being taken by the hand by a good friend or sister who knows business well. We have gone to meals over the years with our family member and the service in the dining room has gotten worse and worse and the food quality and choices are sub-par. It often takes the dining staff 45 minutes or more to serve the food when residents are waiting and there are only two meal choices. We have experience food being under cooked, and vegetables being so old they should not be served. Our family member often has had stomach issues and diarrhea that we think is at least partially caused by the food served. COVID was terrible with residents being forced to be isolated in their rooms for months. They are short staffed in all areas. Not just the dining room. The monthly charges have gone up and up. Maintenance is lacking in the units, including changing light bulbs, loose towel racks, etc. We have had to fix things because of this. They really do not offer a lot of assistance for ADL's even with extra fees. We will probably be moving our loved one soon.
