Lorraine is on top of everything and communicates any concerns immediately. She also answers all questions openly, willingly, and thoroughly. The caregivers are first rate and have been there for a long time. They are so warm, funny personal, and observant. Each time I visit, I feel great leaving Mom in such caring hands. The house is modern yet cozy and homey. It couldn't be cleaner. It is in a quiet tree-lined street and has a backyard and side patio. The home cooked meals look and smell delicious, and at holidays they pull out all the stops!! We are truly satisfied with all aspects of Mom's care at Sun Village!

The entry price is higher than comparable facilities but somewhat justified by the extras. The community (move in) fee is significant and you should ask that it be waved as other facilities will. The feature that earns the low star rating, is their business model. After you have made the considerable commitment to moving in, they start adding service points. In 18 months, with little change in the services needed, they added approximately $3,000 per month in new fees. There was a period where increased care was actually needed, but the added service fees were not removed when the condition improved. If your loved one is cranky and occasionally declines their help, they charge for that also. The result is an upward spiral of charges that are buried in a convoluted spew of numbers on their cryptic billing statements. Don't be fooled by the fancy facade. This is an aggressive wealth transfer machine that delivers no better care than other fine assisted living facilities in the area.

We have had the privilege of having my parents as residents at Vineyard Park Bothell. We've been so…read moregrateful to have them there. From the very beginning, they were made to feel at home, made many friends, and found a community that was interested in their well being. During the process of my father passing away, he was continually cared for with kindness, dignity and a level of care we could have never expected! The Executive Director, Michelle, and the Head of Nursing, Clarence, both showed up in the middle of the night as things were progressing quickly. They were solely there to provide comfort, support and friendship as we walked the painful process. Who does that? Showing up at 1:00am to provide a shoulder to cry on! The staff at VPB does. I can never thank them enough for treating my family as their own. My mother is still there and has now formed her own community there. Fellow residents stop by her apartment to say hello and check on her daily. Her care by the nursing staff is diligent and compassionate. We never worry that she isn't getting the BEST of care. Do yourself the privilege and find confidence in VPB. You won't regret it We sure don't!

Medication mismanagement, elder neglect, unsafe and wrongful billing. During my mothers stay her…read moremedications were mismanaged on multiple occasions. She would call me, let me know her pills were wrong, I would follow up and they would have some excuse about new staff or deliveries. The lead nurse role always turned over; nearly all the staff turned over constantly. At the time my mom moved out, the lead nurse at the time was always on her cell phone talking or looking at Instagram and never checking on residents. I witnessed it taking almost an hour for someone to respond to the emergency pull cord twice. My mom used it to get an aid to assist her in a doctor ordered procedure and I was going to stop her and help myself, but then thought, lets see how long it takes for someone to respond to the emergency pull cord, so I let her do it. What if it had been a real emergency? Multiple times I saw a resident who was not always able to cut up his own food, just not eat, till I went over and cut up his food for him. He was very thin and his family never visited, so didnt know he wasnt getting enough food. I was wrongfully billed on two occasions for meals I didnt eat (I would go to the dinning room but not eat). My mom went in for surgery and when I moved her back, she wasnt as strong. No one checked on her in the 6 hours she was back. When I went downstairs multiple staff people where on their cell phones, including the head nurse who never came up. I knew then I had to move her to a place that had employees that cared and I moved her to a safer, more loving home. During the time there, my mom did love her friends and the activities, which is why I left her there so long. But she often said, this isnt the place if I need help. I lived close by and check on her often so, I felt it was okay. But this is NOT the place to leave a loved one who needs a lot of care or a place to age in place if you dont have family checking on you throughout the week.

As the years have gone by the place has become unmanaged, the housekeeping is horrible and the food is awful. It is definitely not chef quality food as the advertise. My sister has complained repeatedly about the housekeeping and food with no avail. I just recently visited my mother and her apartment was filthy, her sheets, clothes and towels after being laundered were all crumpled up in a pile and thrown in her closet. I immediately went to management with my pictures I had taken and they had housekeeping go in to clean it and as they were leaving I did an inspection. Not much had changed so I proceeded to tell the housekeeper what needed to be cleaned and she ran to Al, the manager. He tried to convince me that the housekeeper was not done but before he came in, she had explained to me she was. After raising my voice I finally got some attention and Al and the housekeeper got the place pretty clean but never defrosted the freezer. My mother is paying $20,000.00 a month for rent and care and her apartment is an embarrassment!!!! Her apartment is rundown and it needs a paint job and new carpet. People who have visited my mother have agreed on the condition of her apartment and the food. The turnover of employees is huge. My mother has been at Aegis longer than any employee that has worked there, including management. We've had four new managers in 5 years. Aegis Lodge is down to one elevator because one of the elevators is broken and has been for along time. In the last year my mother has lost clothes with the laundry service and I found a man's shirt, with his name on it in my mother's closet while I was visiting. Would I recommend Aegis Living to one of your loved ones, absolutely not! Unfortunately I live out of state and so I cannot be on top of this all the time watching out for my mother. If you have a loved one, please keep an eye out for them or this could happen to yours. I do not recommend this place!
