Somewhere hidden in one of those spacious streets in Filinvest near Festival Mall is Manong's, a huge bar and grill. The vibe is laid back and very Filipino. It's a popular drinking place too for "titos and titas", but it's good place too to have a meal with the family as it's relatively more affordable compared to the pricier joints here in Alabang.
Their menu is a typical Pinoy grill menu (think Gerry's grill with so much more options, plus a modest Japanese menu), but food is relatively good and satisfying, with great portions. As for herbivore me, there are some vegan options here like their veggie kare-kare, tofu sisig (omit mayo), and vegetable tempura.
Manong's is a pretty straightforward place. Food is good, great variety of drinks, and they don't try to be anything pretentious. No fancy fusion dishes or flowery gimmicks. And that's great because sometimes all you really want is something simple and familiar. read more
