1. After a salesman, Rex, made a good deal with me where I spent over $1000 at the store on PA equipment, I returned one day because of a possible problem with my mixer. The kid taking my mixer to the back of the store to have it checked out (probably to send somewhere), was very clumsy and rough on my mixer, bumping it into walls etc. I told him to watch it, as this is no way to treat expensive PA equipment.
2. I returned to Manny's to look for passive speakers to use as a foldback. I started to talk to one of the salesmen at the desk when the manager Manny interrupted them and took over the conversation. They did not have what I wanted, and Manny was questioning why I wanted passive foldback speakers. I needed it to hear backing tracks on stage.
He was trying to tell me that because of the instrument I play, smaller passive speakers would not work - I would not be able to hear them(?!). This is the stupidest excuse for 'not buying something' that I have heard from anyone before. He does not even play the accordion. He continued to talked to me in the most rude, condescending manner that I have ever been talked to before. He was also very upset and red in the face, and I was absolutely baffled as to why he would be so upset. I hardly said anything, and when I tried to get a word in he would cut me off.
Speechless, I left the store and went to a small PA equipment store in Bulleen, where the manager answered all my questions, sold me a great pair of perfect, small sized passive foldback speakers. He also debunked some bits of cabling and mixing advice that Manny gave me.
3. No wonder there were no customers whenever I was at Manny's. There is no excuse for taking personal problems or a bad day onto your customers, especially a customer who spent lots of money here. read more
