Who would've thought I would ever stop in a mannequin store selling used, new mannequins, various dress forms, torsos, limbs, used cosmetology heads...well, my friend's fascination for planting succulents and greenery in doll heads as creative arrangements brought me here. Joy! All I could think about (as I walked into the shop) was a scene of a scary movie of faceless, headless, limbless torsos and heads following me with their eyes! Fortunately, it wasn't as creepy as I imagined but inviting, energetic with staff welcoming as soon as we arrived. The front area has a variety of dress forms with beautiful costumes...walk in, you see the craft table for The Headdress Workshop we signed up for... then in your peripheral vision you slowly turn to see the various mannequins artfully displayed for sale...then again it was the afternoon and not dark with flickering fluorescent lights so all good! After completing our 2.5 hr class, my friend was off to sort thru a bin of used cosmetology heads and peruse for "parts" in the back area....she ended up with 3 which made her day....this first visit to Mannequin Madness was fun, creative and therapeutic....I still dislike mannequins but we all had a great time and left with beautiful finished headdresses/fascinators (I'll probably wear to Sizzlers)...and my friend left with 3 new "friends" she can add to her whimsical garden. read more

I had a blast at the headdress workshop! The staff were super friendly and fun! They helped me create a Giants-themed floral crown and provided a lot of guidance since I'm not very crafty. They offer boxes and boxes of materials, so each piece is so unique. There are endless possibilities of designs one can produce. This is a great activity for oneself or a group of friends. What a great business. The woman who helped me was knowledgeable, and relaxed but attentive. She knew exactly which questions to ask in order to get me what I needed, in and out of the store, within 30 minutes. Their warehouse selection is just enough they'd have whatever you need mannequin-related, but not overwhelming, and no merchandise in poor condition. I paid $80 out the door for a 3/4 mannequin in good condition, with detachable arms and stand, an excellent value. They had a class going on which looked fun, and I was low-key jealous I couldn't stop and make a headdress too. I ordered a mannequin on line. The shipping was $80 and the form arrived quickly. Within a week of ordering. Unfortunately it arrived damaged. The frame was bent and a few holes in the linen cover I was worried about getting larger over time. After working with Judi and her vendor for a few days I decided to return the mannequin. Fortunately Judi lives near me so she could come and pick up the form from my house and gave me 100% refund right then. She was so kind and considerate of my specific needs. This company has the worst customer service. I have been trying to return a posable mannequin that is not sturdy at all...and it falls over everytime you try and pose it. Supposedly they have a no return policy for posable mannequins...even when the mannequin you receive is a piece of crap. The "warehouse" claims we have not aseembled it correctly even though I've had 5 different corworkers trying to make it work. I will never ever use this company again. read more

ONE WORD!!!! Fabulous!!! Today a new client of ours requested we photograph some small women's dresses for a new marketing campaign. Having researched the only bay area company who carries various mannequins in stock I proceeded to contact Mannequin Madness (Judy) to find out what they had in stock. To my delight, Judy requested I come over to see the vast varieties they offer. She informed me that they are "By appointment only" but she could see my right away. With keys in hand I jumped in my car and drove across the bay to Oakland. 20 minutes later I arrived to their location. I was greeted with a warm smile and when I entered their facilities, my jaw dropped. Talk about a place filled with vast varieties of mannequins. I was introduced to Chase and handed him the dress to see which mannequin it would look its best on and he recommended the one I ended up purchasing. The whole process took literally 10 minutes to complete and I was out the door to return to my studio to photograph the dress. I went into the store and bought three mannequins, the sales associate was very help. I was recommended to go to their online to order mannequins they did not have available for sale. I ordered two mannequins with wheels for the total for $495. I thought it would be a super idea since we roll out our mannequins outside for display. The wheels came out the stand fell apart. I went back and the man helped screw the mannequin back together which only lasted 1 week. They quality was very cheap no worth the price I paid for. They tried to help, but it did not work out. I donated a couple of our old mannequins for them to resale. I will donate the ones I purchased and did not work out for us. read more

I went to Mannequin Madness looking for a stand for my own dressform and came home with not only that, but also THE perfect mannequin to model my handmade bags! Owners Judi and Jay are very friendly and incredibly helpful. If you live in the Oakland area, I highly recommend making an appointment to check out their warehouse -- they have a lot more stuff that's not on their website (and also the cutest little dog to play with!). I worked with Jay mostly, who -- once I realized I had to have a mannequin of my own -- showed me a bunch of options for mannequins within my price range. He was really patient with me while I hemmed and hawed over my decision and gave me no pressure to buy, which I really appreciated. He was also kind enough to load the mannequin into the car for me. As a sidenote, they also welcome styrofoam packing peanuts and block styrofoam which they reuse for shipping. It's a great business with great service and is eco-friendly to boot! read more

Manniquin madness is full of inanimate shells of people and staffed by very animate, creative, and service oriented real people. They were very willing to give encouragement about transforming the mannequin into art and showed examples. I purchased a mannequin who suspends from cables to fly!! She was new and wrapped. Unfortunately when I unwrapped her leg was broken!! I sent an email to Judy and she responded immediately with an apology and offering a replacement. When I said I would have to cool my creative jets she said I could keep the broken one and pick up the replacement later. Wow! Judi promptly returned our email, was able to work around our available schedule and arranged a time to meet.
