Hello. Just wanted to share a positive experience (with negative test results)…read moreSunday, late afternoon I was having some dizziness & nausea. Because i'm a caregiver for my grandkids and foster children, i decided to take advantage of being tested . Went to First Call in Gambrills ( previously known as Chesapeake Ergent Care, w/same contact info) They were incredibly well run. -Open 7 days! -no appt needed -wait in-vehicle -lines are outside -Rapid & send out test -Test was not painful, just a bit uncomfortable The swab seemed to be flexible -even with a double line of 12-15 cars, it was well organized, supervised traffic director, smooth process, and a bit over an hour total time spent there ! After some of the negative stories of the process .. I was surprised.

I can't believe how slow things are running, I've never experienced these kinds of wait time with any urgent care. This is horrible customer service and patient care. Only one single employee even addressed the wait time. I came here thinking I would get more help than from a CVS minute clinical but I was wrong and will never come back here again. The only upside is that everything is great and very clean.

I got my Primary Care office to send one over within an hour and they never bothered to check it. When I got to the appt, they 1) misgendered me and 2) told me the referral "doesn't work" because it's missing information they never asked for. They had almost an entire day to contact my Primary Care office to ask for the referral to be fixed but because of pure laziness they chose to waste my time. What's worse, is after they told me the referral won't be accepted they said "we have a 15 minute grace period..." like I was going to be able to get my Primary Care office on the phone and a new referral sent over in under 15 minutes. That's asinine. The receptionist was flat out heartless.

Unprofessional and Unresponsive Care This is the second time…read moreI've had to write a review about the poor service at this clinic, and unfortunately, it seems nothing has changed. My first experience involved a serious medication error where my prescription was mixed up with another patient's. Despite calling numerous times and clearly explaining the issue, it took them two full days to correct it. That was frustrating enough. Now, I've been without my medication for 7 days and have made multiple attempts over the last four days to get a simple prescription refill. I've spoken with two different staff members and asked repeatedly for either a manager or Dr. Abernathy to contact me--no one has followed up. The receptionist, whose attitude was cold and dismissive, clearly showed no sense of urgency or empathy. Instead of helping, she pushed me off to Ms. Kia, Dr. Abernathy's coordinator or assistant. I left multiple messages for her, and none of them were returned. I even contacted the Miami-based call center, where I was told for a second time that my request would be "expedited." But when I asked what "expedited" meant, no one could provide a timeline or answer--it was just another empty promise. This has now been repeated with no action taken. To make matters worse, my pharmacy also reached out directly and spoke with a staff member named Nya, who again did absolutely nothing to move the process forward. There is no accountability, no urgency, and certainly no adherence to the basic Patients' Bill of Rights. As my condition worsens each day without the needed medication, I am deeply concerned for my health and frustrated by the clinic's indifference. As a public servant and former medical professional, I find this level of care deeply troubling and unacceptable. I would never treat any patient with such neglect or disregard. Medical professionals are expected to operate with compassion, competence, and integrity--none of which were displayed here. To be clear, this review is not directed at Dr. Abernathy personally, but the ongoing failure of his staff reflects poorly on the entire practice. That this is the second time I've had to write about such experiences shows that these issues are not isolated incidents--they are part of a larger pattern of dysfunction and poor patient care. Patients deserve better. I sincerely hope no one else has to experience what I have. Frank E.

They checked me in and took me back to a room around 10:05am. Pretty sure this is because they are being tracked on this metric. Despite this, I am still sitting in a patient room waiting at 10:55 am, waiting to be seen with only one person ahead of me when I arrived. This level of disorganization and disregard for patients' time is unacceptable. Unless you have hours of your time to burn, I would not recommend this urgent care to anyone.

Let me be clear that Dr. Ochaney wasn't really the problem -- although his bedside manner was lacking. The issue was his staff. After twice explaining my symptoms and trying to get an appointment, I was repeatedly directed to the ER. The second time, his staff suggested my symptoms were life-threatening and I felt obligated to go to the ER. That visit alone cost me more than $1,000 -- despite my request to simply move my appointment up sooner. Again, this is effectively a customer service issue and not necessarily a problem with Dr. Ochaney. Nevertheless, I'd recommend you skip this doctor and find someone in Columbia or Annapolis if possible.

I love that they all know us when we walk in, are welcoming, and we do not have to wait long to be called and cared for. I feel like we are there every other week, but my kids, even when they are not feeling well, love going here. My 3 year old Grandson gets excited every time we pass the building and screams "There's my Doctors! There's my Doctors! Can we go there?" There was one time that I walked in with my Grandson, and right after I checked in, without warning he vomited all over me. Next thing I knew the Doctor, Medical Assistants, and even the Receptionist all ran over to help. You could tell they cared! I'm thankful for Kinder Mender and their services throughout the years. They have always listened to my concerns, are very thorough and patient, are always available to answer my questions, and they allow me to be a part of the care that my kids receive. I have always felt comfortable with the information that I was given when I leave, and know that my kids were competently taken care of. It always amazes me when I walk in with a sick child, and by the time that we leave they seem to be miraculously healed and full of energy. It really shows me that my children are comforted by the care they receive. Thanks to all of you! You are the best!

He has cared for my 20-year-old daughter since birth, and now he's been looking after my 4-year-old son since his birth as well. I trust no one else with their care. From our very first visit, Dr. Malik made both my child and I feel completely at ease with his warm, compassionate approach. He listens carefully to all of our concerns and takes the time to explain everything thoroughly, ensuring we fully understand each step of the process. Dr. Malik is highly knowledgeable and always stays current with the latest medical advancements, which gives me confidence in his care. He is patient, kind, and genuinely invested in the well-being of his patients. My son, in particular, feels incredibly comfortable with him--he runs and hugs him every time we visit, which speaks volumes about the trust and connection they've built. What truly stands out is his ability to make each visit feel personal. He treats us not just as patients, but as part of his extended family. Whether it's a routine check-up or addressing a more serious concern, Dr. Malik is always calm, professional, and reassuring. If you're seeking a pediatrician who is not only skilled but also deeply caring and committed to your child's health, I cannot recommend Dr. Malik enough. He is a true gem in pediatrics! Thank you, Dr. Malik !
