I have heard of several and met a doctor like her before and they all seem to work for Optum. If you are looking for a predetermined diagnosis before they even speak to you, this is the clinic group to visit. This is also a top notch place to feel unheard and dismissed with prejudice.

Her medical assistance, who was extremely rude and combative, informed my wife that the doctor would not be performing any procedures today. We told her we were not expecting a procedure, only an examination. The MA said the doctor had reviewed the pictures and, having never seen my daughter's ear, was going to refer her to and ENT. We explained we had already seen an ENT, and our daughter's primary care physician. Dermatology was the next step. We were informed the Dr. Chao had already determined there was nothing she could do, but we were welcome to come in anyways (this is not very reassuring for a parent to hear). The MA condescendingly informed us we would not be charged for the cancellation...I find this irritating because had we cancelled this close to the appointment we would still be charged, not to mention we had already withdrawn my daughter from school for this appointment.

Our first conversation started with the staff member asking if I had a referral. When I asked if I needed one, she responded, "That's not what I asked you," immediately setting a hostile tone. She then repeatedly talked over me, cut me off mid-sentence, and responded in a condescending manner. Although I became frustrated and told her she needed to be nice because I am the customer, her response was to hang up on me. That kind of behavior is unprofessional and unacceptable in any business, but especially in a medical setting where patients are often already anxious or frustrated when calling in. I was simply trying to schedule an appointment in the Smokey Point office, and instead I was treated with complete disrespect. Patients deserve to be heard and treated with courtesy, not hostility. To management: Please address this issue. Front desk and phone staff represent your entire organization, and if this type of behavior is allowed to continue, it will drive patients away. A medical facility should be a place where compassion and professionalism are the standard at every level of care.

Dr Grierson is one of the rare few left who genuinely care about his patients and listens. He takes the time to listen to what you have to say and what your needs are. He pays attention to your medical history and if you have family members in his care as well he pays attention to the genetic aspect also. I remember my very last appointment with him (not knowing it was my last ) he asked at the end if I needed any referrals put in or tests ordered.... I wish I would've asked for a few then not knowing that the providers I would be seeing for years to come would laugh at me or ignore me when I suggest a certain lab test or a referral to a specialist. I began seeing him for some serious issues with early onset psoriatic arthritis as well as my regular primary care physician in the early 2000's within our hometown of Stanwood. For approx ten years he provided me with excellent care and referrals to specialists and I always felt like he genuinely cared about his patients and that my well being mattered to him. I can recall that he had delivered so many babies in the town and surrounding area that he devoted an entire wall of photos with happy parents and their newborns. He loved people and was always a pleasure to see. I always felt I could be open and honest to trust him with any issue I chose to share with him. Eventually the clinic in Stanwood had been bought out by a larger healthcare company (as most have over the years) and I lost touch with where Dr Grierson had gone following his departure. So after about 3 years luck was on my side and I had heard that he was once again practicing just a few miles away in Marysville. Although the quality care and help he gave me was always present, the corporate care structure is a little different and not for the better in my opinion, but I was grateful to be able to get in to see him again and I still remain a client today. I just want to thank him and say that no matter what the circumstances, he's an exceptional healthcare professional and a great person. If he returns to practice at some point I would be one of the many patients trying to get onto his patient list because he's a valuable asset to the healthcare industry and part of what makes the American healthcare system a little more tolerable. I know many would stand in solidarity with Dr Grierson and I would be proud to let anyone know that he's one of the best now just as I have for many years. If there's a clinic, corporation or medical practice that's lucky enough to have him they better not think twice because good doctors that are compassionate and humane don't come around too much anymore and it saddens me to think that he's not doing his life's work, especially if he isn't ready to retire He is the rare gem that should be appreciated and grateful to have him work in their clinic or community and we need him. If you see this Dr Grierson I thank you for all the years I was fortunate enough to have a doctor that was kind and informative on any issue I was concerned about. That isn't common in very many healthcare clinics today. The corporations and pharmaceutical companies have a stranglehold and monopoly on the care we get and profit always comes first in this country,l. Healthcare is a matter of life and death and therefore profit motives should not exist within that construct I hope you know you're important to so many people. We need you and we care about you as much as you've shown that you care about us, your colleagues and community and the well being of your community. I hope you come out of this with the dignity and respect you have truly earned doing good works for those who truly need it. It is unfathomable how a patient can do everything right, attending every annual checkup, completing mammograms yearly, and undergoing precancer screenings with clean results, only to be diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer that has spread to her bones. At her last primary care visit just months ago in April, her levels were supposedly fine. When she voiced genuine concern that something was deeply wrong and suspected cancer, her physician completely dismissed her. Fast forward to a hospital visit this past Saturday due to severe back pain, and yesterday we received this life-altering diagnosis. This level of negligence, dismissal of a patient's instincts, and failure to catch something so severe until it reached Stage 4 is beyond unacceptable. Kaiser Permanente completely failed a long-time patient who trusted them with her life. If you expect healthcare providers to actually listen to your concerns, look elsewhere.

The lobby area had ample seating and an additional area for overflow. Staff seemed to cycle through the charts efficiently and quickly. Our visit required x-rays, and the x-ray techs were very friendly and awesome with my child. I told him about an adverse reaction to an ointment I was prescribed previously and he prescribed another ointment in the same class that caused further pain. It is easy to tell the difference between a provider who cares and is interested and one who really couldn't care less. On a positive note, the front receptionist was wonderful.
