This little gem is mainly for takeout, but there's some high chairs for you to eat in. It's…read moredefinitely cheaper than dining-in in the hotel restaurant, yet you get the same quality of food as it shares the same kitchen. We watched the cooks prep for our food and it was handed to us fresh off the stove. Food wise, the portion size is simply enormous and we couldn't finish the takeout box despite lots of walking during the day. But that doesn't sacrifice the quality. The salt and pepper squid was on point, yet not overpowering. The deep fried prawns was simply perfect. You can taste the freshness of the prawn just underneath the deep fried batter. Fish was cooked beautifully and didn't fall apart easily when you slice through it. It's already 5 star experience and I would have given a bonus point to the restaurant for having biodegradable wooden takeout cuttery.

Visited by Long time friends and new acquaintances. Ivan loves it's Wednesday burger days at 12.50 for a meal. Our trio choose the second floor because the first floor is quite dark but the outside deck is stunningly sunny with wall greenery, flat screen TVs, heaps room, and funky wicker decor. Our burgers arrive swiftly- having come from, I understand the cleanest kitchen in the business. Chips are salty and crunchy and meat has been cooked to preference. My 'beef' with this burger is the size of bun to patty and the taste of the meat. Bun is too big and each time I bite-sauce and bits fall out. And the meat has a game-y flavour. Is it weird to say "animaly"? Not the best burger I've had but the kitchen does offer a huge array of options and I'd eat here again

The atmosphere was exactly what you'd want from a traditional sports bar -- plenty of screens, cold beer flowing, and a lively crowd getting into the action. We ordered wings and beer, while we watched the game. The wings were noticeably tiny by American standards, but they were cooked really well.

We asked about to go and were told that we had to order off the regular menu. Ok, no problem but are the wings the same as the special wings of the day. We were informed they were. We said "good we like small ones!" We paid, received our bag and left. When we arrive back at our place we opened up our boxes. No celery included. Then there were the wings. They were almost the size of baby turkey wings and totally soggy. So much for excitement of 2 orders of hot wings that didn't happen. Service was good. The place had a good number of customers seeming to be very happy. Just not happy with my order as we were told it would be. Our fault for not opening the food containers before we left. Recommend one eat at the restaurant versus take away.

Being close to where I used to work, I'd frequent this place quite a bit, and before it was a PJs it was a mates fave city pub so we'd catch up over a few here from time to time. There's a pretty good mix of people in the street-level bar, and PJs have converted it into more of a sports bar so there are plenty of screens for the sports nuts to check out their favourite teams prospects. PJs typically have pretty good fare. In winter they have two absolute cracking dishes. The Guiness Pie with mushy peas, and their signature lamb shanks which is totally unctuous. Why such a modest score? Price kills the place. It's not one of the cheaper places to get a beer as someone incorrectly states in their tips, it's easily one of the most expensive places to get a beer. You're paying over the top prices for domestic tap beer. A cheap beer is $5 for a Coopers Pale Ale, which you can get on the same street about 200m up the road... Also... As much as I enjoy a good pokie section, this one ain't good. And by that I mean the clientelle. It brings in the undesireable types, and sours what is otherwise a sweet pub. The snug, the downstairs den, has a great looking bar, and "snug" seating, but it's kinda pointless down there. It doesn't feel snug, it feels stuffy and claustrophobic - and the bar has never been manned when I've been down there. Now, if they moved the pokies to the snug, and then opened up the entire bar at the street-level to include the room vacated by the pokie section, you'd have something. But why would they do that when they can get by with what they have.

Being in the city, it can get quite busy very quickly and is a decently sized basement multi-storied pub. TV screens are usually are usually playing Fox sports or something similar. I order the Parmy, just to be on the the safe side. I wasn't too game to try the Pie which is supposed to be one of the best (as judged by Irish people I work with) around. The food is carefully prepared and you can tell the produce is quality and they've cooked it properly which some pubs sometimes struggle to do consistently... The chips were the standout side, crisp and crunchy! Definitely will be trying the stew or pie, that is if I'm brave enough to.

Well, this bar is pretty tacky, and it certainly isn't anything that I would want to return to. My…read moreGF and I had hotel reservations in King's Cross and her flight had been cancelled and rescheduled for the next day, so I made my way out to KC to get the hotel check-in done. I arrived around 10am; check-in time at our hotel was noon so I had a couple of hours to kill. The hotel stored my luggage for me and I set out on a leisurely Sunday morning exploration of King's Cross. After a bit of seriously jet-lagged, zoned-out strolling I noticed on a corner an enclosed patio area open to the street, empty but beckoning. It was attached to the Empire Hotel, an historic-looking building with a very cool art-deco facade. I crossed the street and walked in and met bartender Albert, who kindly sat me down and gave me a sample tour of all the Australian beers the Empire had on tap. All were fantastic; Australia is a kind of beer paradise if you're a golden lager fan like me. I made my choice and retired to the patio with my pint to relax and soak up the vibe of Sunday morning King's Cross street life. Over the next couple of hours (and pints) I met several colorful characters on the patio, notably well-dressed long-time KC local Tim, who was in the Australian Army and was preparing to deploy back to Afghanistan in a couple of days. Tim filled me in on the history of King's Cross, which has through the decades been Sydney's bohemian zone, red-light district, gay-pride zone, and seedy all-night party bar destination. It was easy to see "The Cross" as it's called was currently in transition, undergoing a steady gentrification as befits its gorgeous physical setting amid historic architecture and streets lined with mature shade trees. Around noon I made my way back to our hotel to secure our room and a well-deserved nap, happy to have been so well-received by the friendly Australians at the Empire Hotel and looking forward to our Sydney adventure that was soon to begin.
