Honestly, I should have left a long time ago but just stayed because it's a couple blocks away. About 2 months ago I had to practically beg for them to see my dog because she had been vomiting non stop. Meanwhile, I spent close to $10,000 the prior year between dental and yearly exams for my three dogs (not to mention in the middle of the dental procedure they tired to get me for an additional $1,000). Unfortunately, I happened to get my least favorite DMV Dr Shopchak. My dog's kidneys were shutting down and Dr Shopchak was telling me that it's been so busy she couldn't even take a break. Did she honestly think I cared whether she got a break or not? Cry on someone else's shoulder because my only interest was how sick my dog was. At that point I knew immediately I would never step foot in there again. I brought my dog to Cornell the next day and they had the nerve to call me and say if she needs anything else just let them know. Are you kidding me like I said I had to beg to get my dog into Lyncourt 2 days prior. I could list a hundred reasons why a pet owner should never step foot in that office. Do yourself a favor if you care about your pets go elsewhere. However, if you want to spend a boatload of cash for mediocre service Lyncourt is your vet! What could improve first step get rid of Shopchak and replace her with a kind compassionate DMV and no one needs your videos on what to expect at your pet's appointment. Also do yourself a favor and review the pet's chart before you step into the exam room instead acting like it's your first day on the job. I've toyed with writing this review for weeks thinking maybe it's best just to switch vets and go away quietly BUT it's more important to make people aware of what it's really like there. They're in it for the cash not for the benefit of our precious pets.

She tells me what is going on with my dogs and the best treatment. She takes the time to answer all my questions and concerns without rushing me. We just lost one of my dogs and it was Dr. B that put her down. I wouldn't have it any other way. The whole staff felt my pain and were very saddened. You won't find a more compassionate, caring, considerate or thorough vet. Dr. B is a wonderful vet and a caring person along with the staff she hires. She is my vet for life.

Before bringing our kitten in for his free appointment, I specifically called to confirm what the appointment included. I was told it was essentially a physical exam and an opportunity to establish care with the practice in case we needed a veterinarian in the future. Nobody explained that additional services might result in a bill of several hundred dollars. From the moment we arrived, the experience felt impersonal and unwelcoming. Communication was poor, and we were asked for records more than once despite already providing them. During the visit, I explained that Loki had recently been treated for ear mites but still seemed to be having trouble with his ears. I was told he no longer had mites but had a yeast infection and needed medication. I was then told his ears needed to be flushed. When I asked what that involved, the response was essentially that they do this every day. I understand that procedures may be routine for veterinary staff, but they are not necessarily routine for pet owners. I would have appreciated a proper explanation of what was being done and why. The biggest shock came at checkout, when I was presented with a bill for $242.91. The invoice included charges for ear cleaning with cytology, another ear-cleaning charge, medication, and an ear mite swab. The free exam had been discounted, but the additional charges had not been discussed with me beforehand. I understand that veterinary care costs money, and I have no problem paying for necessary treatment when I understand what is being done and what it will cost. What I do have a problem with is specifically calling ahead to clarify a free appointment, arriving with those expectations, and then being presented with a substantial bill without having been given a clear explanation of the additional costs or an estimate before the services were performed. This was our first visit. Instead of leaving feeling comfortable and confident about the care of our cats, I left feeling blindsided and disappointed. Clear communication, transparency about pricing, and basic courtesy are not unreasonable expectations when choosing a veterinarian. Unfortunately, this experience fell short in all three areas. I have canceled our next appointment and will be finding another veterinary practice for our cats. First impressions matter, and this one was enough to make our decision not to return.

Yes, they have to triage sometimes--just like an ER for humans--but the speed of care relates to how busy they are and how dire your pet's situation may be. That said, I have never minded the wait, which I have always felt was reasonable under the circumstances. And once my pets are being treated, they take excellent care of them and do whatever they can to make them comfortable. They also counsel pet owners with kindness regarding the options for their pets, and when we've had to make the choice to tell one of our babies goodbye, the compassion and respectfulness of the staff and doctors has brought me tears of gratitude. As far as the cost, I have always found it reasonable. After all, it costs money to run a 24 hour facility, and frankly, I am willing to pay a premium for the availability of emergency veterinary care when my regular vet is not open.
