Korinek & Son Concrete And Asphalt - Back patio

Korinek & Son Concrete And Asphalt

Updated Review as of June 29, 2025…read more We have been trying to contact the company about the cracking in the back patio. They have not responded until I went to Yelp and requested a quote under a fictitious name. The cracking in the back patio creates uneven surface which is especially visible during the winter. They addressed it last year when they were doing our front steps by saying resealing the patio will make it look really nice. The patio only got worse. When they were pouring the back patio, they had to stop. Next day they came in with the jackhammers to take out half patio. I asked what was going on and it was explained that the concrete had too many rocks. Why would you only remove half the patio? The side of the patio that was pored with the new concrete has had no issues. If you want to see real reviews about how this company ghosts customers when the job is below par, check out the reviews for T/S Concrete. The owners changed the name of the company, but Tim and Sheila own both companies. The new company includes their son Matt.

I hired them to pour concrete- All work to be pitched properly for proper water drainage- exactly what our contract stated. Instead, the concrete on one side was pitched toward my house, causing water to come inside. Matt promised twice to come look at it, but was a no-show both times. When I first confronted him about ghosting me, he later called ranting about how busy he was, implying he didn't have time for me. He even said it wasn't his fault my house sits low--yet still took the job (and my payment) without hesitation. This company used to be T/S Concrete with terrible reviews -- the name change doesn't seem to have changed the service. The work looks nice and prices are competitive, but what good is that if it damages your home? If you decide to hire, DO NOT make final payment until you confirm proper drainage. Best of luck.

To further explain, I had called four different contractors, requesting an estimate on this work. I had received quotes from several of them and opinions about what needed to be done. In both cases, there were a variety of answers, given as well as explanations as to what needed to be done, and the prices to do the work. One of the first people I called was Jorge Ramirez who is the owner of Ramirez Masonry LLC. We spoke on the phone several times, and he was very patient, knowledgeable, helpful and responsive as I asked him about the information I was given from the other contractors. He initially came out and thoroughly assessed the work that needed to be done, and after additional discussion came out a second time to further survey the job site. Both of these visits were at no cost to me and the second time he came he also brought along one of his employees to assist him with some of the necessary digging to be certain the extent of work that needed to be done. The other contractors that came basically just glanced at it and made assumptions of what needed to be done without thoroughly checking over the cinder block problems. Although Jorge was the more expensive, he also was willing to work with me on the price and did agree to lower it but showed me every step he would be taking to correct this problem so it would be done the right way the first time and should last for years to come, due to the added reinforcement, he was adding . As I mentioned, he was very thorough and very knowledgeable. He not only supervised the work that was being done, but he also did some of the work himself, and it was completed the same day they started it. The completed job looks wonderful, and he also offered to take pictures from start to finish showing the before, the during and the after so that I could show the future buyer of the house exactly what was done. Per my request, he provided me several names and phone numbers of people he had worked for in the past, and they were extremely happy with him and glad to share a recommendation with me. One gentleman even explained he had some work done here by Jorge and he was so pleased with the work that he also had him do some work in his second home in Arizona. That told me a lot about the quality of work as well as the professionalism I'd be receiving if I hired Jorge. BLOT - I do believe if you hire Jorge, he will be honest with you and explain everything he's going to do and why which will show you how knowledgeable he is. If necessary, he will accept your calls with any questions and will also return to the site before the work is done, If it is necessary to be certain, he completely understands what is needed and what it will take to accomplish the job and be certain it is done in a timely manner and is to your specifications. I guess it's easy to see that I feel very confident with Jorge and his company and will encourage anyone to hire him. As a sidenote, I would mention that there was previously one negative commenTy pn his FB page. I did ask him about that and once I heard the entire situation and was able to learn what truly happened and why there was a negative review, I could see that he did everything he could to try to make things right but that particular customer was beyond any negotiating and per another neighbor of the complainant, it was learned, this is the way that person operates by taking advantage of several businesses. I think that's commendable that someone is willing to give their side of the story If there is some negativity or a complaint, and it's unfortunate that people do that however it does happen. 5 stars!!!
