So, I was getting married in Florence on 21 April, and knowing this I booked a manicure and pedicure for the day before. My maid of honour joined me, we thought it'd be a nice thing to do together. I booked 6 weeks in advance via email, saying exactly what we wanted, flash manicure and flash pedicure for me and just the manicure for my friend, the time and date. As soon as I emailed I got a reply asking for my phone number to confirm. To my surprise I got a phone call, the salon asking me to confirm what I wanted. Perfect, done. Skip forward to the day before I'm getting married. I walk in with my friend. We aren't acknowledged on arrival and we are just waiting there for 5 minutes before someone greets us. When someone comes to us and I give my name, she says there is no appointment. I told her that I booked well in advance, that I'm getting married the next day but she insists I show her proof that I booked. Fine, I find the email after a bit of trouble as I am on holidays and don't have access to internet. I bring it to show them at the till, it says exactly what I wanted and what date. Then the manager goes "Yes! But where does it say the time?? The time isn't here? I need to see proof of time". I then just scrolled down and showed the time. They spoke in Italian for 2-3 minutes while I just stood there awkwardly, no apology for all this confusion. I gave them my phone and just told them to scroll through the messages as they like and sat back down with my friend. I'm ready to walk out after another 5 minutes passes but they take my friend to a station for her manicure. They come to me another 5 minutes later and tell me "It's okay. We can fit you in." So I get my manicure and pedicure, of course it's nowhere near my friend but anyway.. They did a good job as you would expect of any professional salon. When I got to the till to pay. She goes "By the way. Sorry yeah? Don't know how that happened!". Fine, it's really not a big deal to mix up an appointment. It was 100% how it was handled. Demanding proof, not being pleasant or friendly. Leaving us waited for over 20 minutes. It was just all extremely bad form. But it's not over. It comes to paying. She charged me for the more expensive pedicure. Not the flash pedicure which I requested. I was quite annoyed now as I went to the trouble of showing them the email and it said Flash Pedicure in black and white. She protested they had given me the more expensive one. I said that that had nothing to do with me, that I had said what I wanted. She begrudgingly said okay and asked for €5 more than the flash pedicure cost to compensate them for their time (for their mistake). Whatever I just gave the extra €5, I was very keen to leave. I supposed it was because I was a bride, they felt it was a good opportunity to ask for more for the pedicure. I assume. It was an awful experience, very unfriendly and unprofessional. I will never go again. read more
