I had my nails done at another salon and while the job done was good, the chat from the person doing them was pretty much non-existent so I had asked some colleagues for their suggestions. One of the girls had been to the Manhattan Nails in Princes Square and couldn't recommend it highly enough so I decided to try the one in Buchanan Galleries.
It's right next to the perfume shop and pretty small with space for only 3 customers at a time. I thought they had opened up recently as I'm in Buchanan Galleries quite a lot but never noticed it, however they have been open for 3 years!
While I was waiting I had been asked what colour I wanted and shown the colours that were available. I said I was after a burgundy and the woman who was doing another clients nails heard this and showed me the burgundy she was currently using. That was the one I went for.
I had my nails shaped and buffed using an emery board, not an electric file which I have been warned by friends to stay well clear of! While the colour was being applied the girl chatted away with me and because the place is so small the other staff member/customer joined in also. It was really comfortable with a nice bit of girl banter (like how we were going to start the diet on Monday because we had fallen off the wagon from starting last Monday, you know, the usual!)
I went for a shellac polish and my nails looked really good and after a week they are still going strong. It cost £28 which I have been told is pretty expensive but I don't get my nails done very often so can't comment too much on the price.
I will definitely go back, even if it's just for the banter! read more
