I sat down feeling a bit awkward so I tried to make a bit of small talk with the girls who were standing chatting. They smiled and got back to their conversation about their night out leaving me feeling even more awkward. By this time, the girl who was doing my eyebrows had arrived. I explained that I liked the thickness of my eyebrows, I was just in to get a tidy and reshape. She explained what she was going to do and was really quick with the wax. I was really pleased with my eyebrows but the level of professionalism from the counter really put me off. I'll head to HOF next time.

A friendly welcome helped us feel immediately at home and soon our hands were being treated to an exfoliation and moisturising treatment followed by a file and polish all using top quality products. While our nails dried we relaxed and enjoyed an unhurried glass of fizz. Everyone is so friendly and attentive and the surroundings are suitably classy exuding chill- inducing vibes that make you feel special, which is exactly what you want from a spa. As a teenager, I was fascinated watching the ladies in the salons doing it, with so much ease! Al-Aishas reminds me of the salons back home, Hindi/Arabic music playing, a huge queue of people waiting to get there brows threaded. The treatment itself took about 10 minutes, which is completely normal. The lady both threaded my eyebrows and plucked the pesky hairs!.\ After the threading you get a tiny eyebrow massage as they work in the aloe-vera gel to cool your eyebrows. The main reason I will be going back here, the threading done was excellent and the price was as it should be. £5 for eyebrows, none of this £10+ seen in other salons. If you don't mind waiting and having a no frills treatment, I could not recommend here more!

Benefit make-up is one of the most popular brands around today, but recently i've come to realise…read morethat sometimes the quirky packaging is a lot better than the actual product itself. Everything here is beautifully presented and you can get mini sets of all the full size products in a dinky little set which is perfect size for handbags! I usually get the odd Benefit product at Christmas time which is great. However, when I compare it to other brands such as MAC, Lancome and Bobbi Brown, Benefit just doesn't cut it. Especially with foundation, there really isn't a lot of coverage and i've found it goes quite patchy throughout the day which isn't a good look. Perhaps it just doesn't work aswell with my skin but i've found myself going off Benefit more and more recently. I am also upset that they've decided to discontinue my favourite "Maybe Baby" fragrance, instead replacing it with the new "Crescent Row" range which is beautifully designed with the packaging more appealing than the actual fragrance. The outer packaging being a little house and the perfume bottle looks like a little cocktail shaker, very cute but the main thing you're paying for is a box. They have also made the mistake of having a very poor range of shades of foundation and claiming one shade matches every skintone - absolute nonsense! The staff are always friendly, but they all work on commission so no matter what you try on, it's always going to look fabulous. Funny that. I have to admit, their "That Gal" primer is one of the best i've used and it smells amazing, I'm also a fan of "High Beam". I think Benefit is a case of style over substance and it kind of reminds me of The Emperors New Clothes. I used to be a huge fan of Benefit but feel I have been deceived and suckered in by the pretty packaging disguising average quality make-up and paying a hefty price for it to boot.

First I have to say the team were great at answering my pre-visit questions on Twitter and I was able to phone up and book an appointment no problem--it is also possible to book online (which works on mobile) but I didn't have my card near me when I went to book. I had my baby girl with me in her pram and that wasn't an issue at all. The girls in the salon totally fussed over her and she was happy as can be. My brows were shaped and I was in/out in under 10 minutes. On a Friday they give their customer's goodie bags as a thank you AND if a friend refers you you'll get £5 off! Not too shabby! They have a range of brow packages if you like to get yours tinted, etc but the basic brow wax will run you £8.50 which for the quality of treatment is great. I had a bit of a reaction to their oil post wax but they were super helpful and have a different oil and a plan in place for me next time I go and have been messaging me to check in on my brows! Also it's worth mentioning there is a pretty epic glitter wall. Who doesn't love a glitter wall?

Luckily the benefit babes have broken my bad streak! They start by prepping your skin by moisturising it and applying eye cream to get rid of any darkness. They told me good brows make your eyes pop and the under eye cream makes sure they really sparkle. Next I had a tiny applied---I've never had my brows tinted and was hesitant since I'm fair and didn't want super dark brows but I decided to trust the experts. The tint made my brows seem fuller without looking unnaturally dark. She then plotted out the arch of my brows and applied oil to my brows before waxing. The oil worked to keep it less painful and minimised redness afterwards. I haven't broken out and I'm super happy with my brows. During the month of May all proceeds go to charity AND you get a full size Gimmie Brow worth £18! Good brows, good karma and free product--what more could a girl ask for?

I chose a classic french manicure - and I really can't complai (I'd only been once before with my sister, watching her get her nails done). The girl definitely knew what she was doing, so I was happy, and my nails looked fab at the end of it. The only downfall? Her chat.
