My sister just moved to the area and there was an hour of two that wasn't too hot so we decided to check out the zoo! A lot of the fences and gates make it hard to see the animals, so I think they could use some improvement in that area. My favorite was the tiger because we could see him so close up! The kids loved the zoo, and with kids under 5, we like small zoos that don't take all day. This one made the mark! A couple animals I wish they would add would be penguins and giraffes. There seemed to be a concession stand but that was closed the morning we went. There was a nice playground for the kids that we noticed as. There was a lot of adequate shade, which was nice. I would suggest having a stroller or a wagon because there is lots of walking and hills. Overall, for a smaller town Zoo it was great. We will be back sometime again when we visit my sister I am sure.

My buddies and I booked cabin 10 for a guys weekend, and took off from KC on a Friday. We spent the afternoon playing a round of golf over at Rolling Meadows (highly recommend a nice little country golf course). Then popped back over to the resort for a dinner down at the restaurant. We lucked out, as they had a live band playing that were surprisingly amazing, and accompanied our dinner perfectly. The gang was split across burgers, chicken sandwiches and whatnot. Nobody complained and I don't recall any left overs remaining! Friday night saw us sitting by a big fire outside the cabin, and watching some of the planes flying around from Fort Riley for the evening. Saturday was a bit of an early morning, as we went over to Acorn's Wild for an awesome pheasant hunt! We had four dogs, an amazing guide in Paul, and were off for hiking the fields for a half day. It was simply the best hunt any of us have ever gone on, and literally all of us have been talking about how fast we can get back out there again. They followed it up with a heck of a lunch spread (seriously, I gotta find those homemade cinnamon rolls), then we sadly packed it up and went back to KC for family obligations. Already day dreaming about our next escapee over. All of this and it's only 2.5 hours away from KC!

I go to Tracy, but Eric R. has gone to Mary and Andrew and we were happy with all of the therapists. The beginning of the appointment is a brief consultation with the therapist to let him or her know any issues and focus areas. Then, a comfortable massage experience that flies by. I think given my issues, I find the massage to be mainly therapeutic rather than relaxing, but you can request what you are looking for specifically. I just took advantage of the August special 75 minutes for $60. This is truly a great deal considering I used to live in Vegas and even with 20% off local discounts at the casinos, I often spent more than double for 60 minute massages. I will continue to return as needed and will stay loyal to my therapist. This is easy - the first appointment requires filling out a form but otherwise I just show up a few minutes before my appointment and have never had to wait.

I have never been to a salt cave before so this was a unique experience for me. I called and…read moretalked to Wendy before coming and asked her some questions to prepare for my experience. This salt spa uses the MindBody app so you can book your session on there. There are quiet sessions, casual sessions (with more light to read magazines and have light chatter), salty lunch (short time on a lunch break), salty kids (a children's session), and yoga on Wednesday nights. The spa is open every day except Tuesdays, so I came in on Sunday to try it out in the afternoon. It is $30 for a 45 minute session. Wendy greeted me and showed me around. In the salt room, there are Himalayan salt rocks on the ground like a beach, beach chairs, blankets, and cool salt decor on the walls. Wendy put on Tibetan music and told me how the fine salt would come out of the sconce in the wall for 45 minutes. I was by myself for this casual session, and mostly rested on a blanket on the salt beach. It was very relaxing. I think it would be fun to come back with Eric R., and he might like the yoga in the salt room too. After my session, I spoke more with Wendy and her husband Scott. She explained the benefits of salt therapy and why they opened the first salt room in the state of Kansas. It is a really cool place to have in our little city. Give it a try and you can be salty too!
