Who knew that a dive bar in El Paso would have honestly legit bbq? When I went to 915 Vibes they…read moretold me they had opened another bar called The Lucky Dog and it had smoked meats. I was intrigued because most bar food was fried and greasy. When my brother in law came to town, I wanted him to experience the welcoming down to earth nature of the bars here (where families go out to drink together) and I was curious about the food. Wow. The bbq and brisket is legit. They have a smoker (locked up for some reason) that they smoke meat in every day and the results are super tender bbq and meats. They have a super clean full kitchen in the back (I asked to peek and thank the cooks) and they do some legit restaurant food here. The menu is pretty simple, the prices are super fair for the amount of food you get. We were 8 adults and it fed us all easily. We got nachos, zucchini sticks, onion ring petals, the brisket sandwich, and the ribs plate with beans and fries. We also got a lot of beer and shots to celebrate my in laws moving here. Happy Hour is from 12-8pm $2 Domestics = Miller/Bud/bud light /coors $3 Well Service was very friendly and the crowd was too, it seems that everyone was friends with each other which is nice to introduce to my out of town guests. Hubby remarked that the music wasn't obnoxiously loud and eclectic, probably because they have a jukebox system. We left when the dj arrived because we're old and have kids to pickup, but the others stayed to enjoy it turn up. I really like the bars here in El Paso, especially ones like the Lucky Dog which has awesome food. The meats were a little fatty but super tender, but hubby said it's actually good for soaking up booze if you want to sober up before leaving. Check them out, they're a month new, and #supportlocal. So when my friends told me "90s video game bar" i was stoked. Less stoked when we tried to go for…read morelunch one day. Granted, it was a Monday, and afterwards when I found out it was more of a bar that happened to have 90s video games, well the hype died a little bit. It also made sense why they'd be closed for lunch on a Monday. As I understand it, they're trying to steer away from the 90s theme because it seems like folks on the younger end are the bigger demographic. I mean, big surprise the folks in 30s and 40s don't go out and would rather stay in and go to bed earlier. I guess retro isn't as popular anymore. I mean it's not bad. As a bar it has pretty decent food, a good array of drinks, and a place to be sweaty and uncoordinated ie a dance floor. I guess when I came in here I thought it'd be more like an old school arcade that happened to have booze in it. Sort of like that one place with rows upon rows of games, laser tag, bumper cars, and ticket machines, so you could win cheap plastic prizes while getting absolutely hammered. Think Stranger Things but fewer monsters and more high scores. Cowa-friggin-bunga. Unfortunately for my own imagination that was not the case. Still, they have some classic 90s games against the wall. Ninja Turtles (NOT Turtles in Time), Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, all manner of Pac-Man and others. The games are all free, which is a definite plus. It's just more bar than arcade. Just so you know before going in. If that's what you're expecting out of this place, by all means go on in. I like this place fine, and it's fun to get a little taste of 90s childhood, I just wanted more.
