First, an admission: I love Filipino food. I mean, I love it. Almost all of it. Not a fan of sisig, and a couple of other dishes, but I love most of it.
I am the guy that will eat something cooked on a little burner set up on the sidewalk on Bocobo Street, and I will try just about anything (see "sisig").
So. I was ready to further expand my local food experience when I stopped by Mangan.
I ordered a Filipino corned beef dish (corned beef is huge favorite in the Philippines), with rice (of course), some shrimp lumpia, two sides of mixed vegetables.
It was good. Not great, but good. The corned beef was a bit dried out, the lumpia was also overcooked a bit, and the vegetables didn't have much taste.
Maybe the cook was having a bad day, I don't know. I was a bit disappointed - not because it was an awful experience, but because it was just an underwhelming experience.
Service was great; fast and courteous. I'd give them another try if the timing is right, and I'm there in the mall. They deserve another shot, I think. read more
