Mike Storms is a self-proclaimed life instructor and spends most of the hour karate class with your children preaching instead of teaching self defense. in my opinion, he's a huge waste of money because he does not come cheap. we moved our son to southern karate jujitsu and he actually got on the mat and sparred with other kids and learned what to do if he were ever put in any position where he would be in physical danger. i dont recommend Mike Storms to any one. there are lots of karate schools in the area that are much better in teaching than this school is.

It is so difficult for families to find extramural activities for kids with ASD, and Ms. Dicks has created an environment that is not only safe but allows these kids to thrive. Kids are taught martial arts, self-confidence, self-discipline, and self-defense. There is even a sensory class offered, specifically tailored to kids on the spectrum. I can't say enough about how Ms. Dicks has positively impacted my family, except to say that as parents, we were so impressed that we decided to become students too!

Unlike other dojos where you pay for your belt color, Louisiana Karate Association makes you earn it. There are no free things in life. I prefer earning my "stripes," especially if I have to defend myself against an attack. Sensei Mikami is one of the oldest and renowned instructors around. He was a former Japan Karate Champion back in his day...so you know his karate is legit. He focuses on physical and mental discipline. This dojo has a reasonable size class, so you know you'll learn and get the attention you deserve. The other karate students are experienced and really helpful when it comes to needing help. There is a waiting area for parents and guests to sit to watch. If you're unsure, it's a great way to see if this dojo is a good fit for you.
