    Definite cute hang spot

So darling. The owners are extremely welcoming and they make a kick butt breakfast as well! It's 4 rooms for guests and lots of space to relax and visit. Backyard is really spacious as well! I felt safe in the neighborhood and Lyft to entertainment downtown areas was less than $10.

Me and my boyfriend were looking at weekend getaway and wanted to try out b&b, My stay turned out amazing, the whole house was beautifully decorated, the bed was comfortable the breakfast was great and most of all, the owners were amazing to us, they were so kind and friendly and we get to talk to Marie about the history of the house over the breakfast and sharing conversation about everything else, another awesome part's they have private parking place right by the house. It was peaceful inside the house and we couldn't hear what was going on outside even though the houses are so close to each other. I'd highly recommend staying at this place and I sure hope in the future I'll meet the same kind, generous hosts like them. Thank you so much Andy and Marie, we'd definitely be back in the future!

Schuster Mansion Bed & Breakfast - Friends ready for Mollie's Tea

NOT family-friendly. In fact, not friendly AT ALL. My…read moresister and I started a Christmas tradition a few years ago of taking our daughters (ages 6 and 7) to afternoon tea. This year we decided to try Low Tea at the Schuster Mansion. I truly wish I had read the reviews beforehand, because we would not have booked -- and after our visit, I now understand why so many others had similar experiences. I noticed from those reviews, the owner seems to respond by gaslighting those who gave negative reviews- very unprofessional behavior. But here's our story anyways. From the moment we walked in, the tone was unwelcoming. The owner immediately made it clear that children were not really wanted there, repeatedly saying that "this is for adults" and that the girls would need to "act like adults." She even told them they should feel lucky to be allowed there at all. When my daughter simply looked at a bowl of candy near the entrance, she was sharply told that the candy was only for adults. Expecting young children not to even look at candy felt unreasonable and unnecessarily harsh. Absurd. We were told to wander while our coats were taken, but when we did exactly that, we were abruptly scolded and made to feel like we were doing something wrong. At that point, we honestly should have left. When we were seated, the tablecloth was still dirty and there were crumbs left behind. The owner continued to lecture us about how the space was meant for adults, insisting tea was meant for ages 8+. That directly contradicts their own website, which states that tea is appropriate for ages 5 and up. The atmosphere became so uncomfortable that my sister even asked the owner whether it would be better if we left. The tea service itself was disappointing. The tea was lukewarm at best even after being told that we had to wait while the tea was being warmed. We were never told what the desserts were, and we were not offered water refills. While seated, I also overheard the owner speaking negatively to other guests about a previous guest she had from England, which added to the uncomfortable feeling. The area near our table was dusty and clearly hadn't been cleaned in some time. We left as soon as we could -- and it felt like the owner was eager for us to go as well. The bright spot of the afternoon was a kind guest who came over specifically to tell us how polite and well-behaved our girls were. Afterward, we took the girls to Colectivo for hot chocolate, which they enjoyed far more. They even said they felt happy to finally be somewhere they could just be kids again. Overall, we felt like an inconvenience rather than paying guests. The tone from the owner was condescending and unfriendly, especially toward children, which made the entire experience stressful instead of special. We will not return and unfortunately cannot recommend Schuster Mansion to others.

Rick and Laura Sue are remarkable hosts, handling everything themselves--check-in, high tea, dinner, breakfast, even changing light bulbs. Please extend them grace as they are handling everything themselves- I had to check my fast paced city girl at the door;) This isn't your typical stay; it's uniquely special. Our room was incredibly comfortable and immaculately clean. Breakfast was delicious, filling, beautiful, and unique. The location is also great, as it's a quick Uber to the heart of downtown or to the airport, and a very short walk to lots of fun bars. I also recommend a longer walk to St Josaphat Basilica, which was recommended by Mary Ellen and also some other guests. It was probably the most beautiful church I've seen in the US. From the moment I walked in, the lobby was overwhelmed with a heavy, Axe body spray-like scent--so strong it felt like walking through a middle school locker room. I assumed it was temporary and that my room would be a relief, but unfortunately, it was worse. The room smelled musty, like a house that hasn't been aired out in years. To make matters worse, the wallpaper was peeling off the walls, which is unacceptable for a hotel at this level. Beyond that, the overall cleanliness of the hotel was lacking. For a boutique property, I expected a much higher standard, but the space felt worn and not well-maintained. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, and the towels were rough--far from the soft, high-end feel you'd expect. The most concerning part of my stay, though, was waking up at 1:45 AM struggling to breathe. It genuinely felt like a reaction to something in the room--possibly mold or poor air quality. I initially thought I was getting sick, but after spending a few hours away the next day, I felt completely normal again, which makes it hard to ignore the room as the cause. If you have any respiratory sensitivities, be cautious. I contacted the front desk to explain the situation and was told checking out early without being charged for another night wouldn't be an issue. I even offered to return around noon so they could turn the room, but was told not to worry since they weren't sold out. When I returned later that day, there was no note, and the staff refused to honor what I had been told, citing the late checkout time. While I understand policies, the inconsistency and lack of follow-through were frustrating. I also dined at the hotel restaurant, which didn't help the experience. The food was overpriced for the quality--my salad was warm, fries were room temperature, and clearly sat out too long. Dessert was equally disappointing; the lemon tart was buried under an excessive amount of powdered sugar, making it unpleasant to eat. It's honestly a sad day when I transferred to a basic airport hotel--Hyatt Place Milwaukee Airport--and had a significantly better experience. The bed was more comfortable, the towels were actually soft, and even the shampoo and conditioner were noticeably better quality. On top of that, the Hyatt was spotless, which only made the lack of cleanliness at Iron Horse stand out even more. Overall, this stay fell far below expectations. Between the condition of the room, air quality concerns, cleanliness issues, and poor service recovery, I won't be returning.
