Excellent location. Ample parking. Authentic Irish drinks and food. Delicious lamb shepherd's pie, beef cottage pie. Fish fry is awesome. Great appetizers. Dinner starts at 5 pm daily. Irish beers are available. Spacious place. Friendly staff.

Everything about our experience was grand! Really appreciated the phone call from staff the week of our visit to let us know that there have been car thefts of certain types of vehicles in the Milwaukee area, and we were even offered a steering wheel theft-deterrent! When we arrived we were created by friendly staff, who reiterated the car theft concerns, and answered other qs we had about the area. Sooo glad we made reservations for the attached Irish restaurant as it was the BEST meal we've had since before Covid!! Rooms was cozy, includes a large tub, as well as a shower. Great area of the city; we did an evening troll to see the Van Gogh immersive experience and enjoyed seeing Milwaukee by moonlight. We'd love to go back!!

My Irish husband and I absolutely love County Clare. We've stayed here a few times and have always had a great experience. The rooms are quaint, all of which have whirlpool tubs. There is a nice in-room coffee/tea station. However, it's arranged around the sink, which doesn't leave a lot of room for those who need to do more than brush their teeth. The beds are on the firmer side but very comfortable. The included continental breakfast, served between 8-10 am, includes a made to order omelet station and an assortment of bakery and other items. This is a great place to stay, even if you live in town, for a quick getaway. Especially if you can't make it to Ireland!

Cool Irish inn on a hill in Milwaukee. The lobby has green paint with artwork from Ireland. The workers have an Irish accent. The place has a great bar that has British and Irish ales and whiskeys. They also have wine. Had a Guinness and Smithwick beer. On the walls in the bar has some interesting Irish sayings and stained glass about different saints and Irish towns. The room is spacious room with a queen bed, whirl pool tub, a desk, and two chairs. The bed is very comfy. Nice dark wood head board and desk. Simple pattern comforter. Nice, white wood small wall that separates the bed area from the tub and vanity. Good price for the room. The place is close to the Knickerbocker Hotel, Hotel Astor, the lake, Monica's bar, and a few churches. Plus you can drive or walk into the main downtown area of Milwaukee. Great inn that I would love to come back soon!

I loved this hotel. It was small but the rooms were spacious and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The restaurant was amazing - we ate there twice. I would stay here again without hesitation.

Good for the price. Parking, brunch, all good. It is a pretty good value and on the weekend it includes brunch in the pub. There are only a couple drawbacks. If another room around you turns on the jacuzzi tub in their room, you have the pleasure of hearing it. The bed is hard... and a bit off the ground. However, you can use the ironing board to vault into the bed if it is too high for you.

Homey, clean rooms, friendly service, and an outstanding location make this our go to place when staying downtown in Milwaukee. But the amenities go on...free parking, an included hearty breakfast (or Sunday brunch), and one of the city's best Irish pubs located right downstairs! Really don't have anything bad to say about it.

Can you believe eggs benedict (this one with smoked salmon) was my free breakfast included in my stay?

When I lived in Milwaukee, I always wanted to stay at County Clare. I liked visiting the pub that much! So when I heard Weird Al was going to be at Summerfest a few months ago, I booked a room for the boyfriend and myself. It could not have been more perfect--free parking right behind the building, walking distance to the Summerfest grounds, and even free breakfast of the menu in the restaurant! Bummer that there was't time for us to enjoy the whirlpool tub. My only complaints are that the sheets smelled strong of chlorine and the bed made some loud creaks when we get in & out of it. Also, we could hear conversations in the hallway (but there are signs asking people to keep it down, so the inn is doing their part). I would definitely stay here again!

    Area to hang your garments.

This isn't a big modern hotel - nor is it meant to be....it's a quaint inn located over an Irish pub. If you enter from the front, you walk through the entrance of the pub back to the check-in desk. The rooms are a good size, clean and tidy, and looks a bit "lived in" - as if you were staying in your aunt's guest room. The bathroom area is separated off and had a jacuzzi tub, (small) shower that had good water pressure, a "water closet" and a sink area (which is also where the coffee maker was located). There isn't exactly a closet, but there is a luggage rack and a bar for hanging your garments (on top of this is an iron and ironing board). The pub was also very clean and warm feeling. Everyone that we encountered at the inn and the pub was friendly and helpful. Best Things: Location! This was by far the best thing about County Clare Inn. The Inn is located with-in waking distance to the lake, shops, restaurants/cafes and many of the events that happen in Milwaukee (Bastille Day was being celebrated the Sunday we were there). The price. Honestly, this place was very reasonably priced given the location and room. At the time we stayed, they offered a promotion for select days of the week which included: a standard queen room, breakfast, parking, and two drinks at the pub. Things to think about: One of the draws of this hotel is that it offers breakfast....and maybe if you stay on the weekend and are able to order from their breakfast menu you'll have a better breakfast experience than I did. But, if you are staying during the week, here is what you should expect: Breakfast is held in the pub. Along the bar there is coffee offered along with hot water and teas. There was also a basket of apples and a selection of 2 (or 3?) cereals. There is also a small refrigerator that held some milk and yogurt. In addition, there is a stand that had bread, English muffins, and bagels. The latter were individually wrapped. Finally, there was a gentleman that would make you eggs/an omelet. Omelet and apple were good. Bagel was stale, and it got tossed. Coffee was okay. So....breakfast was okay, but after seeing some of the other reviews I was expecting a little more -- just setting expectations for you here. The hotel was clean, but around the tub could use a little bleach as there was some "darker" (mold?) spots along the edge. Overall: If you are looking for a streamlined, minimalistic modern hotel - then this isn't your place. But, if you're looking for a friendly, comfortable place to stay in Milwaukee that has a great location and good price -- stay here! Hint/Suggestion: Parking is in the back of the hotel. It is a little tight, and they may ask for your keys if you need to double park in the lot. If you are able, back into your spot. We watched a few cars juggling to get out in the morning.

Our stay here was absolutely the getaway needed. We stayed in the king room. The hotel was spotless, the room was so cozy with plenty of space. I loved the decor. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The bed was comfortable and the continental breakfast was nice. We also enjoyed the bar (with social distancing). They have done a great job making the hotel safe during COVID by individually wrapping all breakfast items, keeping the hotel spotless, and placing a shield at the front desk. We were extremely pleased and I highly recommend if anyone needs a getaway, come to the County Clare as soon as possible.

NOT family-friendly. In fact, not friendly AT ALL. My…read moresister and I started a Christmas tradition a few years ago of taking our daughters (ages 6 and 7) to afternoon tea. This year we decided to try Low Tea at the Schuster Mansion. I truly wish I had read the reviews beforehand, because we would not have booked -- and after our visit, I now understand why so many others had similar experiences. I noticed from those reviews, the owner seems to respond by gaslighting those who gave negative reviews- very unprofessional behavior. But here's our story anyways. From the moment we walked in, the tone was unwelcoming. The owner immediately made it clear that children were not really wanted there, repeatedly saying that "this is for adults" and that the girls would need to "act like adults." She even told them they should feel lucky to be allowed there at all. When my daughter simply looked at a bowl of candy near the entrance, she was sharply told that the candy was only for adults. Expecting young children not to even look at candy felt unreasonable and unnecessarily harsh. Absurd. We were told to wander while our coats were taken, but when we did exactly that, we were abruptly scolded and made to feel like we were doing something wrong. At that point, we honestly should have left. When we were seated, the tablecloth was still dirty and there were crumbs left behind. The owner continued to lecture us about how the space was meant for adults, insisting tea was meant for ages 8+. That directly contradicts their own website, which states that tea is appropriate for ages 5 and up. The atmosphere became so uncomfortable that my sister even asked the owner whether it would be better if we left. The tea service itself was disappointing. The tea was lukewarm at best even after being told that we had to wait while the tea was being warmed. We were never told what the desserts were, and we were not offered water refills. While seated, I also overheard the owner speaking negatively to other guests about a previous guest she had from England, which added to the uncomfortable feeling. The area near our table was dusty and clearly hadn't been cleaned in some time. We left as soon as we could -- and it felt like the owner was eager for us to go as well. The bright spot of the afternoon was a kind guest who came over specifically to tell us how polite and well-behaved our girls were. Afterward, we took the girls to Colectivo for hot chocolate, which they enjoyed far more. They even said they felt happy to finally be somewhere they could just be kids again. Overall, we felt like an inconvenience rather than paying guests. The tone from the owner was condescending and unfriendly, especially toward children, which made the entire experience stressful instead of special. We will not return and unfortunately cannot recommend Schuster Mansion to others.

From the moment I walked in, the lobby was overwhelmed with a heavy, Axe body spray-like scent--so strong it felt like walking through a middle school locker room. I assumed it was temporary and that my room would be a relief, but unfortunately, it was worse. The room smelled musty, like a house that hasn't been aired out in years. To make matters worse, the wallpaper was peeling off the walls, which is unacceptable for a hotel at this level. Beyond that, the overall cleanliness of the hotel was lacking. For a boutique property, I expected a much higher standard, but the space felt worn and not well-maintained. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, and the towels were rough--far from the soft, high-end feel you'd expect. The most concerning part of my stay, though, was waking up at 1:45 AM struggling to breathe. It genuinely felt like a reaction to something in the room--possibly mold or poor air quality. I initially thought I was getting sick, but after spending a few hours away the next day, I felt completely normal again, which makes it hard to ignore the room as the cause. If you have any respiratory sensitivities, be cautious. I contacted the front desk to explain the situation and was told checking out early without being charged for another night wouldn't be an issue. I even offered to return around noon so they could turn the room, but was told not to worry since they weren't sold out. When I returned later that day, there was no note, and the staff refused to honor what I had been told, citing the late checkout time. While I understand policies, the inconsistency and lack of follow-through were frustrating. I also dined at the hotel restaurant, which didn't help the experience. The food was overpriced for the quality--my salad was warm, fries were room temperature, and clearly sat out too long. Dessert was equally disappointing; the lemon tart was buried under an excessive amount of powdered sugar, making it unpleasant to eat. It's honestly a sad day when I transferred to a basic airport hotel--Hyatt Place Milwaukee Airport--and had a significantly better experience. The bed was more comfortable, the towels were actually soft, and even the shampoo and conditioner were noticeably better quality. On top of that, the Hyatt was spotless, which only made the lack of cleanliness at Iron Horse stand out even more. Overall, this stay fell far below expectations. Between the condition of the room, air quality concerns, cleanliness issues, and poor service recovery, I won't be returning.

On the thirds day of our stay, I asked the front desk if housekeeping could come while we were out. They looked at me like I had two heads. She asked me when I had arrived and when I was leaving. Our visit was 5 nights and 6 days. No one had come to check on paper products, towels, and trash, which seemed odd to me, as a guest renting a suite that had paid over $1000 for our stay. The front desk informed me that I am responsible for removing the trash and that if I needed bathroom or facial tissue, she could give me a box or roll to bring up to the room myself. The kicker for me though is that in the room there's a table tent with a QR Code for "cashless tipping" of the housekeeping staff. Also, neither the oven or stovetop in the kitchenette were working and my husband had to repair the shower. All in all, it's a very beautiful hotel. I understand it's an older building too, so the situation with the stove, shower, and temperature were not a big deal. However, a hotel that is touts itself as top tier for service and excellence needs to provide proper bedding and certainly be making housekeeping visits daily to freshen towels, beds made, remove trash, and replenish paper products and toiletries.
