We arrived late afternoon and we were pleasantly greeted and quickly seated. A nice solid menu of Italian/Mediterranean treats plus monthly specials posted on the exterior board. Full bar service, and plenty of Spanish wines offered. Prices are very reasonable and repeat that the service is excellent. In business approaching 30 years, this was our first visit and found it through a shout out on Yelp! The business is an American owned venture but very much offerings and atmosphere of a casual Mexican dinner. Some really interesting photographs throughout the restaurant that offer some insights into the island's history, the owners friends, and even her cats! We started with some wonderful empanadas and an octopus dish that was probably one of the best cooked I've had in memory. Great seafood options and daily fish specials. Like most of Central Cozumel, street parking can be a little tricky but not a showstopper. You may be interested in looking for a yard that offers car parking to get off the streets. We definitely will be back and highly recommend you check out this restaurant when in the area

This wasn't just another meal; it was a culinary journey, a deliberate rebellion against the beige mediocrity of resort dining. Our quartet, each seeking a unique escape, found solace in the artistry of Fantino's kitchen. The evening began with a delicate amuse-bouche, a tantalizing promise of what was to come. One of us savored the rich, earthy flavors of a mushroom pasta, each bite a symphony of umami that danced on the palate. Another reveled in the tender, perfectly seared filet, accompanied by seasonal vegetables that tasted like they'd been plucked from a sun-drenched garden that very morning. For the seafood lover among us, the grilled Mediterranean fish was a revelation - flaky, moist, and kissed by a whisper of the sea. The vegetarian of the group found nirvana in a vibrant, fresh salad, bursting with local produce and dressed with an olive oil so pure, it could have been a religious experience. Throughout the meal, the live piano music played a soft, elegant backdrop, elevating the ambiance to one of understated luxury. The service, seamless and unobtrusive, felt like a perfectly choreographed ballet. Each dish arrived with a narrative, a story of the chef's passion and meticulous attention to detail. In the end, it wasn't just the escape from the resort that we cherished, but the discovery of a place where food transcended mere sustenance and became art. Fantino didn't just feed us; it nourished our souls, reminding us that true culinary adventures lie beyond the safety of the all-inclusive. Good food is very often, even most often, simple food. And here, in the heart of Cancun, simplicity met sophistication in the most delightful of ways.
