First time eating here. Was it good? I would say average. Will this be a place I am so excited to come eat at when I come back home. The answer is no. They don't do a lot of items on certain days. Really wanted fresh spring rolls but, they do not do these on Saturday. They did have a lunch menu on Saturday. If I remember it is 11-3. I had the Sautéed chicken and string beans. It comes with soup which I got egg drop and an egg roll. Like I said earlier it was blah but ok. Was not excited. What I don't like there was 6 of us and got a gratuity added on. read more

I've been giving this restaurant my business for many years from when they were oriental wok to now, Mandarin. For years I've ordered the combination plate that on the menu clearly states it come with a drink. Everytime I've ordered this to go I get the drink to go. Last night when I went in to order the owner( older man) refused to include the drink, he said it was dine in only. I have never had this problem before, it was sad because our children go to school together. He was willing to lose a 40$ order over tea. The level of bad customer service and greed... I will not return and give them my business. I truly hope going forward they will honor the menu, I didn't ask for a freebie, I asked for what the meal included per menu. read more

food is always good and atmosphere is really nice! i recommend the sushi to beginners/sushi lovers. the people were always nice and orders took a little long, but not complaining because of the quality of the food. i do recommend read more

Server was nice. Food is decent. Not that expensive. Get the suffering bastard drink. It's fairly strong. (Make sure you mix it yourself when it arrives). Overall, not bad. (See pictures for detailed reviews) read more

Can't say enough about how good this restaurant is. The food and service is hand in hand. Has a great meal. We actually drive 11/2 hours when we get the taste for Chinese food. read more

Excellent sushi Great service Relaxed atmosphere Highly recommended Take out optional read more

This is my favorite Chinese food not only locally, but compared to all others that I've tried!!! Food is hot & fresh always!!

Equivalent to mall Chinese food: came at 2, ordered the tiny spicy chicken from the lunch menu. The food had a weird mix of hot and cold: Hot/warm chicken, cold rice, hot egg roll, cold soup. It was interesting. The flavor was just meh. The rice tasted like nothing at all. I wouldn't really call it fried rice. Waitress was great, restaurant lovely but table was dirty and obviously had not been wiped down. But for $20 meal and tea and tip it is was just ok. read more

When the order is wrong, they DO NOT accommodate the customer! Customer service is everything and that's not their top priority/concern.

The food is super fresh the service is amazing the noise peaceful the talking the people don't talk the music is loud enough where you can hear it you should definitely get the avocado sushi role and the California sushi role it's super fresh and so good! read more

The service was prompt, courteou, and friendly. We had sushi that was so very fresh, just delicious. I had the dinner combination which was wonderful. Since we had just come in from a 2 hour drive we appreciated the sparkling clean bathrooms as well. This was a great place to have nice meal. read more

I was visiting from Mississippi and wanted to try the Mandarin. The food was great and so was the customer service. Whenever I'm In Pineville again, I'll be going back to Mandarin again. It's hard to find great food and great customer service, but the Mandarin has both. Keep up the great work. read more

Doesn't feel like a small town restaurant, but definitely locally owned and operated. Food is always fresh and usually quick. Don't be deceived by the name of the pan-fried noodles - comes with pork, chicken, shrimp and 'crab', as well as veggies, all stir fried tableside in a sizzling cast iron pan. Delicious! And their poke' bowl is great, too. Everything we've tried here has been wonderful, and we go a lot! read more

Great food and great service! Love the decor and lighting. Our waitress was very on top of everything and also had a fabulous sense of humor. Our food came quickly and was beautifully presented. My husband had several different sushi rolls and they were much better than another place we'd tried recently. I got the Kung bo chicken and our son had the orange chicken. Good sized portions and our waitress provided us with extra plates to share. read more

Used to be really good, but hasn't been lately... Sushi shouldn't be warm... Went for lunch today and had a salmon roll that should've been ice cold. Salmon tasted like it had been sitting out for a long time... The wonton soup wasn't as good either. Wontons were just dough and no meat in them. Definitely not going back for a while... read more

We ate here a few days ago and we were blown away. Our waitress Annie, I believe is her name was fast, attentive, and kind to our party of 7. She was quick to fill drinks and offer extra plates for my smaller children, like she could read my mind! Also, my oldest is allergic to shellfish, but he really wanted sushi (a rare treat for him), she made sure to inform the chef of my sons allergy and came back to tell me he made sure to use all fresh and clean items to prepare my sons roll. My son left full and healthy!! (Thanks chef!) The prices were a bit shocking, but the portions and quality showed us why. We were expecting small plates of what we ordered but instead were given massive mounded servings of everything. The crab Rangoon (cream cheese wonton w/crab) were probably the best I've ever had. The orange chicken and tiny spicy chicken were both amazingly delicious! I really can't tell you what I'll get next time, because there will absolutely be a next time! All of this is coming from a Chinese food snob that hasn't been totally happy with a place in YEARS!! ....now my mouth is watering and I'm planning our next trip.. read more

Best Chinese in town!! Portions are huge and they have great sushi! Kids like to eat here and we order out sushi all the time. read more

This is my favorite Chinese food restaurant hands down! Consistently good food and fast service. They are known for their tiny spicy chicken - it's the best! Oh, and the sushi is great, too. read more

The food is amazing here, and it'd seem like a typical Chinese restaurant. Although it is mostly that, their food seems to kind of be better than some of the other Chinese places in Alexandria. The restaurant has takeout and dine in which are good, and adds to the nice Chinese takeout vibe. The Tiny Spicy Chicken is their best thing there. You have to get that. read more

This place has a great atmosphere, very clean, no waits, and food comes out fast! Mandarin and Saki sushi have the best sushi in town. If you're from out of town looking for sushi this is the place to go. It's very fresh and they have a lot of options. Most people who live here have never had real sushi and the restaurants here serve that imitation crab California roll stuff. Not this place. The Chinese food is also very very good! read more

This place is a wonderful spin off of The Wok. The place is the most beautiful Asian resturant in the area. The ambiance is truly on point. Perfect for that first date or just that time alone away from the kids for just an hour or so. The food is equally matched to The Wok except for the egg rolls. Other than that; the food is superb and worth every penny. Take the time to visit the sushie bar that is gorgeous. read more

My husband ordered dinner during a weeknight. One entree two egg rolls. Our total is always $20.84. He went to pick it up as usual. He gave them our bank card, and left with our food. When he got home, we discovered instead of giving us our order, they'd given us a different order. Two entrees, two egg rolls, and shrimp fried rice. All food was cold and egg rolls were so greasy, they weren't edible. One of the entrees was thrown away next day, as we don't like it. It resembled buffet food that has been sitting out for hours. Beef broccoli should never look like that. The other entrée, tiny spicy chicken was OK but certainly not what we ever choose. Immediately he called the restaurant and told them they had given us the wrong order and basically their response was OK. Never an offer to make this right in any way. I thought oh well be gracious move on. Then I saw the next day where they had charged us for the dinner. But it was not our order, but was the other person's order, more than two times the price of what we ordered. Our total should have been $20.84 they charged us $51.02. This is very poor business practice indeed. When you screw up, you should make it right. They could very easily give us a gift card or certificate for $51 that we could use there. I won't be spending my money here anymore. read more

Just makes me miss the Wok! Service is great but food is hit or miss! Beautiful restaurant, but need to fine tune their cooks!!

This is our go to Asian cuisine in Alexandria. Love the food. Have not been disappointed. Sushi is fresh. I highly recommend their spring rolls. read more

The moo goo gai pan is perfection ! Great, clean restaurant, will keep coming back! Easy to find location.

Terrible management and food. No longer good quality. Manager completely ignored me as I spoke and did not acknowledge one single word I said. I was very polite but I suppose if you aren't yelling, cursing and causing a scene, they don't hear you. I will never eat here again. read more

Delicious! Definitely my Go-To in Alexandria, LA! The service is also the best in town.

Excellent food! Tiny spicy chicken with fried rice. Egg drop soup. Cream cheese won tons. MAN. Very nice staff and clean establishment. For your Chinese food fix- Come check them out. read more

I was surprised nobody was in restaurant when I went tonight at 8:00pm. The service was good. I had the Shrimp with Garlic sauce it was delicious. I was not impressed with the wine selections. Sutters home for everything. Except the Pinot Grigio. I ordered the Santa Margherita. I was shocked at the price they charged for the glass of wine $12.00. You can buy entire bottle for $20.00 or less at stores. read more

I'm temporarily living in Alexandria for work. The first time I ordered from here, I ordered the Mongolian beef and it wasn't great. It was barely good. It was super saucy and way, waaaay too many yellow onions (cause they're cheap.) However, I decided to try the sushi this time and it more than made up for the other dish. It tasted fresh and held its shape without being rubbery kind of sticky. I'll for sure be back for the sushi! read more

Mandarin doesn't seem like much when you pull in the parking lot. However, after you step inside, you are transported to a high class restaurant! Always clean, always friendly, Mandarin has a ton of choices from fresh sushi, to delectable Chinese dishes. They're known for their tiny spicy chicken which is delicious! I also enjoy the chicken & broccoli for a regular dish. I've tried so many sushi rolls. All have been delicious and fresh. No complaints. The crab cucumber salad is fantastic as well as spring rolls! Give anything a try and you won't be disappointed :) read more

Being from the DFW area, Chinese take out it is a weekly thing. This restaurant in Alexandra can compare to places I get take out back home. This is one of my stops while I'm out here working for a good solid dinner. Thanks for all the good meals! read more

A lot of my review decision has to do with the decor of the restaurant. Alexandria has very few intimate eating experiences. When nearly all of the major options are fast food/chains, a local business offering a fine dining experience is much appreciated. The food is very similar to Oriental Wok and it is not mind-blowing, nor is it terrible. The prices are great; a lot of food can be ordered for little money. I have been once in person and have ordered take out twice. If you want a place that feels special, with good, plentiful food, this is your place! read more

From the atmosphere to the menu and service, this place is NAILING IT. I crave those good, garlic-y flavors only American style Chinese can promise and this place totally brings it. Full bar, full sushi menu, and a plethora of amazing appetizers and entrees that are sure to keep you happy. I always get the Black Pepper Sizzle, some veggie egg rolls, and whatever drink I'm feeling. Best part? The freshness is there regardless of when you order and whether you dine-in or take out. MUST GO. read more

We started with crab and cream cheese stuffed wontons, and they were ok. Tasted like any Chinese crab rangoon. I ordered the orange beef, which was amazing! It had large chunks of orange peel and peppers. Great flavor profile! My wife got the orange chicken, and while it tasted good she was leary of the meat. It didn't look like chicken, kind of like pork. That made her mind immediately go to the horrifying Chinese restaurant stories.....cat....dog. Our total came to $38. Good Chinese food, but not the best I've ever had. My wife's opinion is 2 stars! read more
