After my consultation, I had my hair shampooed and conditioned before returning to the chair for my cut. Rebecca offered to diffuse my hair so I could wear my natural curls, and she even took the time to finger coil my curls before diffusing them. I really appreciated the extra care she put into styling my hair. Overall, I had a great experience at Mosaic for my first visit.

I was in need for a haircut and was recommended this place. I had heard so many good things about…read morethis place that I figured it would be great to try out. Unfortunately, the person who cut my hair did not do it properly and the situation made me feel worse when he basically chose to tell me I'm wrong. To start things off, I'll say the place is very nice and reminds me of a coffee shop. People are very nice and will even give you complimentary refreshments. Parking can be a little difficult since it's in Ivanhoe area. For my haircut, all I needed was a trim. The agreement was just maintaining most of the length and let the hair have some flow and texture towards the top. The guy even ran his hands through my hair to follow the direction it grows in. Next thing I know, he's combining my hair in the opposite direction and cutting. At first I thought it was some technique I'd never seen before. But turns out he fully intended for my hair to go in that direction. At the end, I asked why he cut my hair that way if originally he was even moving my hair in the proper direction. His response was that my hair wants to grow in the direction he cut. I chose not to argue since it had already been done and at that point I didn't trust him to fix it anyways. However, I do know he's wrong. My hair naturally falls in the direction seen in my picture as it dries. Now it has a weird shape on the sides with no life at the top. I'm sure these people are well trained, however I had a bad experience and will not be returning.

Overall, this was a great first experience and I will definitely be coming back! I am also going to be recommending this salon to everyone I know that needs their hair done.

I tried Sports Clips which was slightly better.. but no where near a real barber shop like Coleman's. The first thing I noticed was that they take their time cutting your hair. They seem to be perfectionists, which is what you're looking for if you care about your appearance at all. No more going home and "fixing" what the barber missed. Coleman's fixes others' mistakes. There is a Floyds opening up nearby and I'm not remotely interested in trying them. The atmosphere is very chill, often w some smooth jams in the background. Everyone there is having a good time. Do yourself a favor and bring in a pic of what you want, whatever it is, they can handle it. I usually go very simple but they could etch a unicorn in your head if you wanted. Shout out to Omar, Bobby, and Kendall who have all done an amazing job every time. $20 for a cut, seems like a steal given the quality. Check out my pics for the perfect fade, 1.5 at shortest.

When I arrived to the salon (again, DAYS after booking the appt), I was asked to wait to meet my stylist. I was brought back to her chair where she asked me to describe what I'd like. She proceeded to say that she did not feel comfortable cutting my hair type. While I am grateful that she did not jump in while unsure, I did find it pretty upsetting that the stylist and the salon chose to handle this embarrassing situation in front of other clients rather than calling me beforehand or even speaking with me at the front of the salon. Likewise, I have a difficult time understanding the purpose of submitting pictures in advance (which the stylist stated she saw), but then waiting until after I have driven to the salon to discuss. J. Bauman was actually in the salon while this was happening and offered no reassurance or alternative. He sat on his phone in the front of the salon while the stylist told me how "awkward" the situation was. The best that they could provide was asking me to come in a different day (mind you this haircut was for my graduation the next day.) If you have textured, curly hair, I'd be extremely wary of booking with the curly cut stylist and this salon in general. I found that EDUCE down the road was a similar price point with a much more understanding and qualified staff.

Bad service, the timing was ridiculous ( they kept me waiting around forever) I left this salon with a headache from the stress I had there. I drove there for about ONE hour to get a haircut with Michelle but she never showed up and I was told by the other stylist that Michelle texted my sister to cancel the appointment two days before the appointment time which was a total LIED. Because she didn't want to admit that she forgot the appointment with me. This business doesn't know how to pay respect to customers' time and effort. No wonder why they didn't have any customers when I got there. Please it's an insult to charge what they did for the service received. The staff are unfriendly and have an awful atmosphere. I would never return to this salon even if they offered me a free service. They are desperate for customers and I see why.

I showed my phone to the lady that I didn't get any text or voicemail. She only said I'm sorry and resumed her work. It was a huge lie and I was so upset with that. We drove 30 mins there and waited for nothing. Now I have to go to the gathering without having a haircut. We would have kept waiting longer and wasted more time if we didn't ask where she was at. Terrible experience ever!!
