Instead of the rugged, masculine atmosphere I anticipated, it felt more like a chick cat-owning club, the quality of service is inconsistent , relying heavily on the staff's mood and who happens to be working that day. I arrived to my scheduled appointment at 9:30 AM, but as I approached the front door at 9:22 AM, a blonde lady informed me that it would be "at least another 15 minutes" before she would even open the door . I found this puzzling, as I questioned how they could require an additional 15 minutes in an 8-minute window? To make matters worse, it was a chilly 39 degrees and raining outside. I felt unwelcome, almost rudely dismissed, being first customer . I stood outside until 9:32 AM while two staff members at the front desk seemed to ignore me, as if to send a message. Once inside, I was attended to by a stylist who had a Mike Tyson tattoo on her face. Man cave is the kind of place to get a haircut if you don't want to overpay but get a great haircut in a comfortable atmosphere catering to the guys, as you might have guessed from the name. Inside is full of memorabilia from the 80s forward and lots of attitude, but not bad attitude. I have never had a bad haircut here, and all of the people cutting here pay attention to what you ask them to do. One of my favorite features is when getting your hair washed, look up at the ceiling because it is covered with LP albums from the 70s and 80s, and looks a lot like the playlist on my Spotify - I'm Dad rock guilty. I'd love to go back but won't. Good haircut at a good price? Yes. Comfortable atmosphere? Yes. Purchasing experience? YIKES! The pay-point card reader is right next to the chair. After I inserted my credit card, the reader gave me a tip option of 30%, 50%, and 75%. What? Then I noticed the stylist standing next to me looking over my shoulder. Went in with my son with little expectation and no appointment on a Sunday. I was happily surprised. The inside is great and clean. The barbers are professional and efficient. We had to wait under 30min on a busy Sunday. I showed a picture of what we wanted and both my son and I loved our haircut and the price was fantastic. Second, the place is owned by a woman (the lovely Jan, who for some reason answers to 'Frisky') so ladies don't go flaming me over the decor etc. As hair style places go, this one is brilliant - wish I'd thought it up myself. Walk in and it screams 'Man Cave' - everything from wheels and tires to album covers and beer coasters on the ceiling (yes, you read that right). Worst hair cut I've ever had in my life. I can't remember the name of the girl who cut my hair (I want to say it was Sarah, but I can't recall other than I know st the time she was just barely getting back into cutting hair after a family hiatus), but I've quickly tried to forget her and the experience. Not only was the haircut abysmal, the stylist shredded the back of my neck to pieces with her horrible straight razor skills. I literally had to take the day off work because there was no way I could go into work with that bright razer burn and those cuts and scratches on the back of my neck. I generally go to E-Z Chair Barbershop on Bellevue and also receive a straight razor cut each time, and have no issues whatsoever. This place sucks. read more

I like this place. How could you not, there's a pool table in the center of it. My hair gets cut just how I like it and they take care of your neck with a straight razor. The place is really nice and definitely a guy's place... but the haircuts from anyone but the owner are hit or miss - and for me, mostly a miss. Twice they missed a few hairs around my ears and once I had to go back and have the owner finish it because so much was missed the first time. If you can get a haircut from the owner (can't remember her name), you're lucky and you'll get a good haircut; otherwise, enjoy a game of pool, check out the album covers on the ceiling and hope for a good haircut. read more

I wrote most of what I'd say on my check-in. However I'll say it again here (or at least try), I found this diamond in the ruff a couple months ago (after living in Monroe for a couple of years). I've always gone to the Navy base in either Everett or Marysville before. On a Friday the day before drill (I'm in the National Guard) in a pickle needing a haircut, I found Man Cave. Stylist Kayleigh took me right in, and gave me an excellent haircut. I've gone here ever since. And as much as I can help it I won't go anywhere or to anyone else. We had good conversation while she was cutting my hair. I'm a talker so that was great (there's nothing worse than getting a haircut in complete silence). Overall a very good experience and she gained a customer. They head washing was great so I didn't walk out with a itchy head. I highly recommend Man Cave and/or Kayleigh. read more
