Tri Lakes Aquarium & Pets

Tri Lakes Aquarium & Pets

Phew! I thought they closed shop forever. They vacated their spot beside K-Mart and moved to the…read morecorner of Elm and Main Street. I have yet to check out their new set-up. Their previous place was spacious and they even had an indoor koi pond with fountain that was my daughter's favorite thing to look at. They had a good assortment of fish- nothing fancy or unusual. And they had birds out of their cages, and reptiles (thankfully kept in their tanks). They also had a supply of live crickets for the pets that need them. Sure, Wal-Mart sells their fish and supply cheaper but you don't get quality service. The people at Tri Lakes are quite knowledgeable about the pets they showcase. For example, I went in to get fish for my daughter who was only 2 then. I was just going to choose some random fish since my purpose was just to entertain and teach my kid about pets. Of course, before I could walk out with any fish, the gentleman interrogated me about my purpose and if I had a tank ready (of course, I didn't even have one!) and if I knew how to care for them, etc. I was annoyed that he was so intrusive. Just give me the fish will ya?! But, I later realized that he truly cared for the fish he was selling. He just wanted to make sure that I was getting the right fish for my purpose and that I would take good care of it. At the end, he recommended that I get a Betta fish and he explained how to condition, clean and control the temperature of the water. And thanks to his advice and careful instructions, "Seymour" is living healthy after 1 year and 5 months.

I just got a beta fish. Told the lady I have never had a fish before and needed guidance. She…read moredidn't give me the time of day and obviously didn't know enough to be helping me. A few days go by and my fish hasn't eaten. She let me grab the wrong fish food without saying anything as I was looking at her for approval. The pellets are too big for a beta. As a beginner, I did not know that. Not only did I waste money and will be going back for a refund tomorrow, but I hope my fish is still alive by then as they are closed right now. Please make sure your staff is educated and capable of giving advice to keep animals safe, and if they aren't, they shouldn't be dealing with customers. I have gotten many animals from Petsmart and know some staff are really nice and helpful, but the brunette with the side bang hairstyle thing was not. I'm so sorry to call you out, but I fear for animals that are in your hands.

They told me they could only do a bath since she was so terrified. I asked why they didn't just call and I would have picked her up a long time ago. They said they tired to call. I said when? I had been checking my phone all afternoon and there been no call. She said she thought it was something the way their phones worked and when they call if the number not in my contacts it goes to spam. OK we all know how phones work so that's a lie. Bottom line they are totally incompetent and I would never go back there again. Also the dog was still wet when I picked her up.

Pet Advantage is my "go to" for every question , issue, and problem l have with a pet. Having been…read morea science teacher in Connecticut , l appreciate fellow animal enthusiasts who are quite knowledgeable about classroom pets. These people have an intrinsic love for all animals . I frequent this store many times and have never met an employee that didn't know a topic or wouldn't refer me to an employee more knowledgeable. Not only are the staff educated and friendly, but they are professional. Gabe, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable and professional. He speaks authoritatively on the diet and habits, habitats of any given animal . He handed out "print-outs" to us on Bearded Dragons when we asked diet questions. I was quite impressed with the devotion to quality care and handling of the pets "Pet Advantage" serves. This is truly a top-notch pet store in our community ! We are extremely fortunate to have Pet Advantage. The animals are healthy and vigorous, the employees and owner are wonderfully knowledgeable. We are both lucky and grateful to have Pet Advantage on Dorset Street, South Burlington area. Thank you for your devotion and professionalism.

We went back and were then told we had to buy pellets and hay or they wouldn't give us the pig. Obviously this made us unhappy and we were expressing that fact and suggesting that that should have been mentioned and it should be on the price listed for the pig when the owner told us that he didn't have to put up with this and that he wouldn't sell us the pig. Very unprofessional.
