I wanted to love it but the breakfast was bad. The sausage patty was burnt and like a hockey puck. The eggs and hash browns were so greasy. The only edible item on the plate was the white toast with jelly. I have two stars because the people who worked there were very friendly. Ugh I forgot about the bathroom. Back to 1 star. As I walked to the bathroom to wash my hands my shoes stuck to the floor the whole way. The bathrooms weren't great either. The women's restroom has a layer of dust and grime on the sink and floor. Impromptu lunch stop. Kiddo had the 5oz papa burger (even had toasted bun), small fry, and med drink. I settled on chicken tenders (so good!!!!), with toast, fries, gravy med drink and a side of fried okra which was super good..not grandma's but I'd come back for them. The service was nice. The waitress was very pleasant and made sure our coffee never ran out. However, the coffee was terrible. Very weak. My husband got chicken fried steak and eggs and the steak was soggy, he ended up taking the breading off and drowning it in the mediocre gravy that was served with it. My hash browns were so crunchy I chose to skip those. The pancakes were great. My shoes stuck to the floor while walking. I don't think we will be coming back a second time.. read more

i'm not really a fried food enjoyer and prefer having some options with my main course but the vegetables were limited and everything was a bit too heavy for my personal liking. They have a daily special which is good old southern, homestyle eating and it's my dad's favorite spot so I checked it out. The serve fried catfish, chicken fried steak, chicken, shrimp and a couple options of seafood platters. Sides include green beans, mash potatoes fries and a few other things. The salad really was not a salad, rather just a hunk of iceberg lettuce that was chopped a bit into smaller chunks and topped with salad dressing. My jumbo shrimp ordered were tasty but deep fried and coated in grease so I soaked them up quite a bit with paper towels before i was able to eat them. The catfish plate was a decent size with 4-5 large pieces of catfish, in my opinion, a good 2-3 servings worth. All in all, if you're looking for some good southern homecooked style food, carb forward, fried goodness, this will do the trick. read more

There was only one server working for breakfast and it was pretty busy. Tables were an absolute mess. Had to clean one off ourselves to sit . Food was very over cooked and not very good. Only reason it gets two stars is because of the kind waitress who was doing her very best to tend to the entire restaurant. Not sure if I would go back to try and give a better review. read more

This is a popular place with the guys I work with. It is family owned and the Matriarch, Mama, runs the place. They have typical American food selection; burgers, fried fish and chicken, and various pies. There are also daily specials. I got the fried catfish plate and it was quite a bit of food. The plate came with hush puppies, a salad with choice of dressing, and fries. The theme is very rustic but sometimes I feel it a little too rustic. There's a large dinning area one section with a tv and the other without. I got my food in 10 minutes but me and another guy were the only ones at 3:00 in the afternoon. All in all, if you're looking for good home cooking give Mama's Kitchen. read more

Store pkg gravy (no sausage or meat), good coffee, great baking powder biscuit-hot-soft, plain pkg jellys, very small yet crunchy hash, good over easy eggs, sausage Pattie-no links, ham is small-bnls, cute place, always busy. Seems to have changed ownership going from hamburger type place to a more varied menu with Greek food leading the way. Lots of diner type items such as meatloaf, seafood, etc. Great pies also. I had shrimp basket and it was tasty and plentiful. read more

I took two family members to this restaurant. We had chicken fried steak, steak fingers, a burger, and a salad. The steak fingers and chicken fried steak were fair at best. The gravy was mistaken for gravy mixed with mashed potatoes. The burger patty was like a pre made patty that would have extenders in the meat. It had an after taste. Even though there were very few customers at the time we went, it took a long time to get our food. I found the place to be filthy dirty. The table tops, legs and bases were dirty, the chair seats, backs, and legs were dirty, the light fixtures and fans had years of dust mixed with grease on them. The dining room by the restroom smelled of sewer gas. While we were eating, one of the staff members was emptying the trash. He was obviously angry about the duty. My mother and I went to eat an early dinner on Thursday, March 17, 2016. When we arrived, there was one couple in the entire place. We ordered the "special", a green chili cheese burger(I was asked if I wanted cheese and was charged $.55 for it!!?), and a small fry. We drank water. The bill came to over $18.00! We waited almost 30 minutes to get our food, and when I went to pick it up at the window, there were no fries. I asked, and the girl who had taken my order said she didn't charge me for fries. I then asked how the bill could have been so much. The cook, who I believe is the owner's son, went to the cash register and began hitting buttons, and said, "You had the special, a green chili cheese burger, and two drinks, but no fries". I told him we didn't get drinks. We were drinking water. The girl who had taken our order said she was new, and I said that was no excuse for charging us extra for things we didn't get. The man then slammed his hand down on the cash register, opened the cash drawer, took out $7.00 and slammed it down on the counter, said something about not being able to deal with a mistake, and told me not to come back!! I asked if Walter still owned this establishment and he said "No! My mother owns it!". I responded back with "Not for long!". There is no excuse for this kind of treatment of customers in a service industry business, and they will not be in business long like this! read more
