Very good Detroit style pizza!! I love the way they season their pizza for sure. I would eat here again!

Solid pizza! Great selection of anything you can think of to order. Carry out and delivery only!

We have been enjoying mama Rosa's for years, never been disappointed or felt like it was less than delicious. We had the chicken wings yesterday for the first time they are so good. read more

Pretty decent food. The only thing that needs improvement is the ribs. SIKE. Best ribs I have had in my 23 years on this Earth. They melt in your mouth before you have time to chew. Spectacular, give me 14 of them right now. read more

Traveled to dine here. There is no inside dining. Carry out only. We called to confirm this did not only happen on Sundays. No idea as to when inside dining will begin? We did not order as eating pasta in the car was not inviting , we live too far away and we're not ready to have left overs by yet time we were home. read more

Love this place! We been ordering from over thirty years! They have always had good pizza and the square I really love the best. Even when you call the girls all have been nice when ordering for delivery. I had breast cancer in 2010, I called one night and asked would they help me out, I had came home from the hospital and had no food, I asked could they spot me a meal on credit and because they remember who I was they gave me 2 dinners on the house, I will never forget that. Thank YOU VERY MUCH!! I have had everything This place serve and every thing on the menu is awesome. I definitely recommend this place! read more

I travel to Detroit every few months and always make sure to stop by at least once. Great value, consistent and of course tasty. There's no dine in option currently due to short staffing. read more

The best pizza!!! Run by such an amazing team as well. Couldn't recommend this place more. Also has great salads & sides

This is a place that's is deeply ingrained in my childhood memories. It was only a stones throw away from the house I grew up in until college. It was always our family's tradition to come here once a week on Friday or on Sundays. We would get a large round pizza with pepperoni, cheesy bread, mozzarella sticks with their meaty marinara dip sauce and a large salad. This was our comfort food for the family and was our time to really get connected over pizzas and oodles of carby and cheesy foods. Can't thing of anything else to help bring a family closer than pizza, cheese bread and cheese sticks, right? This was how we spent family time. My family is bigger now and there are little folks around, but we still love coming here and taking up the biggest table, sometimes requiring a wait since it's a small place. I have taken out food from here if it's too crowded on my way to or from my parent's house now. I don't eat the pizzas so much but still enjoy their large house salad with their tasty Italian dressing and a spaghetti with mushrooms is my jam for the past few years now. My entire family still gets the same pepperoni pizza, cheese bread, mozzarella sticks and salad but now there's more mouths to split the food and even faster little snotty fingers to nab the last of the cheese breads and mozzarella sticks. How funny we never fought over last of the salad back then and still don't today. It's so great that of all places that this place still hangs tough. It's change hands since the original owner passed on long ago. His great pizza recipes and restaurant lives on. We will see you all soon. Be well and keep putting out the same yummy pizzas. read more

The best pizza in GPP! So fresh and yummy. Also the best greek salad in town. Mama Rosa's is a weekly, affordable takeout for my family of 5! read more

Thank goodness for Mama Rosa's pizza! You can't beat their thin crust, fresh ingredients, quality cheese and sauce. And their wings are excellent--crispy and cooked to perfection. We order pick-up at least once a week! Thank you Mama Rosa's for being our neighborhood pizzaria! read more

Small pizza joint carry out only since Covid but the pizza was good .I wish the dining was open

OMG so good! Crust is buttery and soft, sauce is sweet, cheese is thick literally the best!

Good pizza is hard to find and this pizza is great. They don't skimp on toppings, good crust, nice cheese. Sometimes it's hard to get through on the phone to order. Great option for carry out pizza though overall. read more

Best place ever! We had a party next door at the Cabbage Patch Saloon and Amy from Mama Rosa's brought over the pizza, bread, salad, wings and set everything up so nice for our guests. Everything was delicious and fresh out of the oven. Amy also came back to box up the leftovers for us and even boxed up our cake and made individual to go boxes for the grandparents. Sam was also very helpful when I was placing the order the day before. I love this place! read more

I called around 8:15 to place a delivery order. After taking my entire order, I was asked for my phone number. I gave my cell phone, which starts with a non-michigan area code. The person taking my order said, "That's not a number from here. What's your home number?" I stated that I did not have a home phone, and that was my cell phone number. She then stated that they, "Do not take new customers after 8pm." Then the line sat in silence while I searched my mind for a reasonable reply. You are open until 11 and advertise delivery, and let me get through an entire order, and deny me based on my phone number? I then found delivery available via doordash, and proceeded to order from there. I got a mushroom and onion pizza. I wish the mushrooms weren't canned and that there was more than a piece or two of onion on it, but it was still tasty. The italian sub was a bit soggy, very little meat, and heated, which I did not expect. Overall the sub was kinda gross. read more

We stopped in here for some pizzas and were pretty happy with the experience! Actually my first try at Detroit-style pizza, and wasn't disappointed. Flavors were good and the pizza wasn't too greasy, which seems to be a common issue for Detroit-style pies. The interior was very tired, and I don't think I would ever want to eat there in person, but the staff was very nice and the pizza was good, so I would go back for delivery or take-out. A nice spot! read more

Their Detroit-style is the best we've had. So delighted to have recently discovered this neighborhood shot. We've been ordering weekly since coming upon it a few months ago and the food is consistently delicious. read more

I'm going to fully admit that nearly every time I've ordered or had Mama Rosa's I have been completely drunk at My Dad's Bar ....and usually someone else has ordered it. That being said, they make a good pizza - but it's just not my style personally! I can totally understand the hype but it's a little heavy on the tomato for me, and I like a fluffier crust. They seem to be great with large orders though, and super reliable and fast. I've gotten several from them in one go for a party pre-covid and everyone loved it. read more

Hidden gem of Grosse Pointe Park. Located right in order of Detroit is a great place for pizza and some great pasta dishes. Quaint interior for dining or great carryout. Highly recommend the lasagna with meat sauce and cheesy breadsticks. Tried the Detroit style pizza which was decent but have had better. read more

Great family owned business. My mom always talked about coming here as a child so I was super excited to finally try it! The food is impeccable I mean even the salad is through the roof! The customer service is great too, the owner is so kind. Definitely a community staple. read more

In my opinion, and the opinion of many of our friends, Mama Rosa's Pizzeria is definitely the best in (dare I say), the State of Michigan. Their complete menu is exceptional. From the antipasto salad to their slab of ribs and everything in between, the food is excellent. The pizza however, is the best I've ever had, and the one and only food I'm picky about is pizza. Theirs is the very best by far. Thank you Mama Rosa's. Twenty stars. Phil and Denise Benedetti Grosse Pointe Farms Michigan read more

Some of the best pizza around! We also love the lasagne, chicken parm and tiramisu. Give them a try if you haven't, you can't go wrong

Dare I say, some of the best pizza I've had in a long time? This place is very good. When we went, the dining room was closed so it was take-out only. We brought ours to the saloon next door and ate it there. Being in Detroit on business, I had heard about Detroit pizza. Never expected it to be this good! read more

I love, love, LOVE this place!! Old fashioned, thin-ish crust pizza like I remember from my childhood in northwest Detroit. My kids have tried the pasta dishes & loved them as well. But did I mention that I really love their pizza? I work until 9:00 in Troy on Wednesday night, which is our traditional pizza night. BONUS!! Mama Rosa's is open LATE - like 11:30 late. Frequently, I see various cops here at night - including members of the Detroit PD. Says a lot because policemen generally know all the good spots. Not fancy, but the REAL deal if you love authentic, home style Italian. Nice folks there too. Mangia bene!!! read more

We all know that you can get pizza anywhere, but locally, Mama Rosa's is a great option to consider! While I can only speak to the pizza and antipasto salad, both are fantastic. The pizza has smaller pepperoni that curl when cooked (which is so good), the crust is delicious and great balance between sauce and cheese. The antipasto salad comes with a great dressing and good size options, including larger sizes for bigger parties. The restaurant from the road is very unassuming but do yourself a favor and give it a shot. The staff was super friendly, quick and the budget was right! read more

Hands down - best pizza! The crust just right..the sauce is sweet n tangy... the cheese, real mozzarella! Oh my good so good!

My favorite pizza and antipasto salad in Grosse Pointe! The sauce is semi sweet the crust is semi thin and salty. They also have a good lasagna that's not too shabby. My kids love it here. read more

This place is phenomenal ! Highly suggest trying it out if you're into Detroit style pizza. They also have pasta and other stuff I have yet to try. Pizza was amazing though. read more

Gave this place two tries and I'm glad I did. delivery - don't do it, your food will be cold and they'll make some excuse as to why it took them an hour. It was not good the first time. Pick up - decent. Eggplant Parm was good, so was the cheese ravioli. Salad was a little sad, tons of lettuce and one tomato and cucumber. Fried zucchini was soggy, cheese bread was decent. Customer service was great. Overall, 4/5 if you carry out (dine in if you're okay with tight spaces) but just don't get delivery. read more

My first visit to Mama Rosa's - what an excellent experience old world pizza great flavor. The perfect CRUST' Not a loaf of bread dough. A good crispy style crust, topped with a great tasting old world tomato sauce, and really great cheese.. The Pepperoni was nice and curly on the edges' small and round and a perfect compliment to the Pizza. Perfectly prepared! John RAPP 2018 read more

Really good pepperoni pizza, picked it up in 20 minutes and it was so delicious and fresh! Will order another pie in the future.

If I could live on any one type of food, it would be pizza. I crave it and love it in all of its forms, but no form more than Detroit style square. Mama Rosa's is my favorite place to eat this kind of pizza. I prefer it to Buddy's, Jets, Cloverleaf, and it is just as good as Loui's (not as heavy and greasy). I know these may be fighting words for some, but there is just something about Mama Rosa's that keeps me coming back. It does a very brisk carryout business and the dining room is very basic and small. That said, we typically dine in. Usually it's after happy hour at at Ye Olde Tap Room. And we dig right in to the old-skool sesame breadsticks (yknow, the kind that goes marvelously with butter and comes packaged in twos) which are given to all tables. Service is always friendly and as prompt as can be expected, given how busy this place is. We always get the cheesy bread sticks, which comes with THE BEST meat sauce for dipping. We always get a square pizza. The Hawaiian is a favorite, but we've had many different combinations of toppings and none have disappointed. We have had the round pizza before but I just don't know why you'd waste good pizza calories on a round pizza when you could have a Detroit square. Beer (bottles only) are available but it's just your basic American mass-produced lagers, I think. If you want something crafty or unique, go to nearby Tap Room or Cabbage Patch Saloon. There's not a ton of awesome ambiance here, but people are friendly and the food is fabulous (and super reasonable in price). You can always have Mamas delivered. We often get it delivered to the Tap Room (yeah, we like it there) and make everyone else in the bar super jealous with the fab pizza smells. Yum. Now I want more pizza. Try Mamas - you'll probably become a fan too! read more

Mama Rosa's and I go back a long time...over 25 years...(sharp intake of breath at the realization it's really been that long).... Those of us who can go back that far might remember the mint green decor and the old PacMan table.... I've seen it go through 3 renovations - new signage out front, parking lot resurfacing....but the pizza has always remained INCREDIBLE. Unbelievable, actually. I have YET to find a place that tops Mama Rosas..... So, the location has become a bit more sketchy over the years...Mama's is located along the edge of Grosse Pointe Park and the "East side" of Detroit. If you are looking for a picturesque view, you won't get one here... grab your pizza and head to Lakeshore and sit on the water to eat it.....because while Mama Rosa's is situated on the Grosse Pointe side of Mack Avenue, the other side of the street is adorned with nothing but overgrown lots, burnt down buildings and busted-up cars. Yeah...if you aren't used to seeing that, you might be a little concerned for your safety...but don't be...Mama's caters to the local police both in Detroit and GPP - so there are always officers stopping in, and the area is HEAVILY patrolled. Mama's also has it's own private lot, and if that gets full, just park in the lot directly across in the Lakepointe Building (after hours only!)...same side of Mack. If you park on the other side of Mack, you may not have a vehicle waiting for you after! There is street parking right in front of Mama's also...just make sure you pay the meter because you WILL get a ticket....the GPP meter maid is not to be messed with! :) The interior is cozy - a few tables down the center and a handful of booths along one side. There are 2 corners that can accommodate a larger group...definitely intimate dining...don't talk too loud because everyone in the joint will be able to hear you! No outdoor seating. No wi-fi. If you want to work on your computer, run a hotspot through your phone or go to Starbucks. Decor is Italian and chic...love the last renovation...although I do miss the mint green of my childhood... (SIGH). Did I mention that they serve beer? Yep....you can get an ICE COLD beer with that incredible pizza...in my opinion, it's really the only way to eat Mama's pizza...and I'm typically not a beer drinker....in fact, I only drink it with pizza at Mama's now that I am thinking about it! HA! The sauce is on the sweet side all around - whether it's pizza, ravioli, spaghetti, even ribs...all on the sweet side....and DELISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The house salad is boring - that's my only complaint, but who cares.... if I was sitting there with one of those pies in front of me, the whole damn place could be burning down and I would have no clue. Price is average. Carry-out is huge...lots of customers stopping in to pick up and take home. They aren't open for lunch - they open at 4pm..... lots of bars in the area within walking distance if you want to go out for great pizza and then a few drinky drinks after.... Lots of police officers come in and out of there, both uniformed and undercover... as a kid I always got a kick out of that! Who am I kidding? I STILL get a kick out of that! read more

I have been coming to Mama Rosa's for nearly 28 years, when I would bring my daughter in a baby carrier! I will travel almost an hour for the best spaghetti in Michigan! It feels good to be able to walk in and be recognized immediately and they know exactly what I'm ordering. Thank you to the Mama Rosa's staff for staying consistent over the years! read more
