Love this place! We been ordering from over thirty years! They have always had good pizza and the square I really love the best. Even when you call the girls all have been nice when ordering for delivery. I had breast cancer in 2010, I called one night and asked would they help me out, I had came home from the hospital and had no food, I asked could they spot me a meal on credit and because they remember who I was they gave me 2 dinners on the house, I will never forget that. This is a place that's is deeply ingrained in my childhood memories. It was only a stones throw away from the house I grew up in until college. It was always our family's tradition to come here once a week on Friday or on Sundays. We would get a large round pizza with pepperoni, cheesy bread, mozzarella sticks with their meaty marinara dip sauce and a large salad. This was our comfort food for the family and was our time to really get connected over pizzas and oodles of carby and cheesy foods. Can't thing of anything else to help bring a family closer than pizza, cheese bread and cheese sticks, right? This was how we spent family time. My family is bigger now and there are little folks around, but we still love coming here and taking up the biggest table, sometimes requiring a wait since it's a small place. I have taken out food from here if it's too crowded on my way to or from my parent's house now. I don't eat the pizzas so much but still enjoy their large house salad with their tasty Italian dressing and a spaghetti with mushrooms is my jam for the past few years now. My entire family still gets the same pepperoni pizza, cheese bread, mozzarella sticks and salad but now there's more mouths to split the food and even faster little snotty fingers to nab the last of the cheese breads and mozzarella sticks. How funny we never fought over last of the salad back then and still don't today. It's so great that of all places that this place still hangs tough. It's change hands since the original owner passed on long ago. His great pizza recipes and restaurant lives on. We will see you all soon. Best place ever! We had a party next door at the Cabbage Patch Saloon and Amy from Mama Rosa's brought over the pizza, bread,salad, wings and set everything up so nice for our guests. Everything was delicious and fresh out of the oven. Amy also came back to box up the leftovers for us and even boxed up our cake and made individual to go boxes for the grandparents. Sam was also very helpful when I was placing the order the day before. I love this place! read more

I called around 8:15 to place a delivery order. After taking my entire order, I was asked for my phone number. I gave my cell phone, which starts with a non-michigan area code. The person taking my order said, "That's not a number from here. What's your home number?" I stated that I did not have a home phone, and that was my cell phone number. She then stated that they, "Do not take new customers after 8pm." Then the line sat in silence while I searched my mind for a reasonable reply. You are open until 11 and advertise delivery, and let me get through an entire order, and deny me based on my phone number? I then found delivery available via doordash, and proceeded to order from there. I got a mushroom and onion pizza. I wish the mushrooms weren't canned and that there was more than a piece or two of onion on it, but it was still tasty. The italian sub was a bit soggy, very little meat, and heated, which I did not expect. Overall the sub was kinda gross. read more

We stopped in here for some pizzas and were pretty happy with the experience! Actually my first try at Detroit-style pizza, and wasn't disappointed. Flavors were good and the pizza wasn't too greasy, which seems to be a common issue for Detroit-style pies. The interior was very tired, and I don't think I would ever want to eat there in person, but the staff was very nice and the pizza was good, so I would go back for delivery or take-out. I'm going to fully admit that nearly every time I've ordered or had Mama Rosa's I have been completely drunk at My Dad's Bar ....and usually someone else has ordered it. That being said, they make a good pizza - but it's just not my style personally! I can totally understand the hype but it's a little heavy on the tomato for me, and I like a fluffier crust. Hidden gem of Grosse Pointe Park. Located right in order of Detroit is a great place for pizza and some great pasta dishes. Quaint interior for dining or great carryout. I love, love, LOVE this place!! Old fashioned, thin-ish crust pizza like I remember from my childhood in northwest Detroit. My kids have tried the pasta dishes & loved them as well. But did I mention that I really love their pizza? I work until 9:00 in Troy on Wednesday night, which is our traditional pizza night. BONUS!! Mama Rosa's is open LATE - like 11:30 late. Frequently, I see various cops here at night - including members of the Detroit PD. Says a lot because policemen generally know all the good spots. We all know that you can get pizza anywhere, but locally, Mama Rosa's is a great option to consider! While I can only speak to the pizza and antipasto salad, both are fantastic. The pizza has smaller pepperoni that curl when cooked (which is so good), the crust is delicious and great balance between sauce and cheese. The antipasto salad comes with a great dressing and good size options, including larger sizes for bigger parties. The restaurant from the road is very unassuming but do yourself a favor and give it a shot. The staff was super friendly, quick and the budget was right! read more

Gave this place two tries and I'm glad I did. delivery - don't do it, your food will be cold and they'll make some excuse as to why it took them an hour. It was not good the first time. Pick up - decent. Eggplant Parm was good, so was the cheese ravioli. Salad was a little sad, tons of lettuce and one tomato and cucumber. Fried zucchini was soggy, cheese bread was decent. Customer service was great. Overall, 4/5 if you carry out (dine in if you're okay with tight spaces) but just don't get delivery. read more

If I could live on any one type of food, it would be pizza. I crave it and love it in all of its forms, but no form more than Detroit style square. Mama Rosa's is my favorite place to eat this kind of pizza. I prefer it to Buddy's, Jets, Cloverleaf, and it is just as good as Loui's (not as heavy and greasy). I know these may be fighting words for some, but there is just something about Mama Rosa's that keeps me coming back. It does a very brisk carryout business and the dining room is very basic and small. That said, we typically dine in. Usually it's after happy hour at at Ye Olde Tap Room. And we dig right in to the old-skool sesame breadsticks (yknow, the kind that goes marvelously with butter and comes packaged in twos) which are given to all tables. Service is always friendly and as prompt as can be expected, given how busy this place is. We always get the cheesy bread sticks, which comes with THE BEST meat sauce for dipping. We always get a square pizza. The Hawaiian is a favorite, but we've had many different combinations of toppings and none have disappointed. We have had the round pizza before but I just don't know why you'd waste good pizza calories on a round pizza when you could have a Detroit square. Beer (bottles only) are available but it's just your basic American mass-produced lagers, I think. If you want something crafty or unique, go to nearby Tap Room or Cabbage Patch Saloon. There's not a ton of awesome ambiance here, but people are friendly and the food is fabulous (and super reasonable in price). You can always have Mamas delivered. We often get it delivered to the Tap Room (yeah, we like it there) and make everyone else in the bar super jealous with the fab pizza smells. Yum. Now I want more pizza. Currently the best pizza place I have had ever !!! Me and my boyfriend come here frequently !!! In fact we crave it !!!! Their cheese bread is phenomenal and is a must have Followed by their pizza of course !!!
