Not usually one to write reviews but my experience was so awful. If you have interest in this…read moreRealty group I am highly recommending that you reconsider. Especially not with Israel Reyes. At first, I was excited about my opportunity to rent one of these properties, but as we got closer and closer to signing the lease, more and more red flags continued to pop up. When I was extended an offer on an apartment, Izzy was eager at for me to get out any questions I had on the unit - I didn't have many concerns, but since he seemed so friendly and open I decided to ask why the rent was being raised by $100 mid lease term as I would be taking over for another tenant who broke their lease. Immediately he went on a tangent about how expensive everything is nowadays - specifically fire alarm panels (?) - this should have been the first red flag. If you are going to buy up all of these properties, be prepared for the upkeep. It's part of the job. But I didn't argue, as I understood, and asked solely out of curiosity and was being pushed so hard to put any lingering concerns on the table. The second (and larger) red flag was when Izzy continuously complained about tenants who request maintenance. He even said that he had just finished moving in a tenant who pointed out something in the unit that was in need of repairs, and told me he offered her every penny of her money back if she would just move right out of the apartment that same day. Not sure if anyone has ever told him this, but that's what you do when you first move into an apartment. You make note of everything wrong with it so that when it comes time to refund the security deposit, you have your bases covered and proof of preexisting damages. But, he only viewed this as complaining and wanted to kick her out. That's what made me question if this was his first day on the job or if he's truly been doing this for 20+ years as he claimed. It was just plain unprofessional. No 'landlord' should have that short of a temper when it comes to keeping apartments in decent shape; apartments that tenants are already overpaying to live in. It's clear he sees his people as cash flows and not human beings. But I decided to look past all of this in hopes that I was just overthinking. I received a link to be set up in their tenant portal. The first strange thing I noticed in the portal was that the app showed a past charge of $35 for the application fee, but my receipt and credit card statement showed a $40 charge. Not a big deal but I was wondering who pocketed that extra $5, and was afraid to ask in fear it may upset Izzy. So, I'm getting ready to set up my portal and review the lease, but the app wants me to pay a $4200 deposit before proceeding. I thought this was strange and was hesitant to ask about it but decided it was worth a shot. I had never done it this way, but was open to it if there was a good explanation. Izzy and I had spoken several times and like I said, he encouraged me to ask any questions I needed in order to feel comfortable. Turns out, asking if I could see the lease before paying $4200 was enough to get my account locked and told they are no longer interested in my tenancy as it was indicative of some sort of trend with me. While this was confusing to me as I truly didn't think it was that unreasonable of an ask, I'm glad his true colors showed before I gave them any more of my money. Izzy Reyes wants people who will pay up and shut up. I highly question the legitimacy of his company - who's to say I would have gotten my $4200 back if I then reviewed the lease and there was some crazy clause in there? He pushes and pushes for his prospects to ask questions, but has 0 patience when it comes time to give answers. So please, save yourself the time, stress, money, and headache and go somewhere else, before you get scammed out of thousands like I almost did.

He left us homeless with our 2 children, and kept all of our of our money. DO NOT WORK WITH THESE PEOPLE! Everything was fine until he found out that I have a service cat. She's an as ESA, he couldn't deny her. When I told him, he got very angry and first said we couldn't have the house, then said we could but the previous payment arrangement we agreed to was actually never an agreement even though there is a clear paper trail. Eventually he realized it was discrimination so he went back to the original payment agreement. They gave us a confirmed Move in date and time, which was texted to myself and my husband, and told not to be late because his sister Maria was moving us in and she had several appointments. When we arrived the previous tenant to keep her stuff in the garage and to give her a garage door opener. So we had to allow a perfect stranger unlimited access to our garage! Then the basement had exposed pipes, ripped flooring and the worst bathroom I've ever seen. We were told the bathroom was being redone, but that didn't happen, it looked like a shower fit for prison! There was so much stuff and so many people viewing the home at the same time, we could not see the fully exposed pipes coming out of the floor when we originally viewed the home. We wanted to walk the property vacant before signing or paying, but were told no. We needed a home and were in a time crunch. We were We were understandably upset by these and the condition of the home. Maria was extremely rude as soon as we got there. She called and put Israel on the phone who asked what the issue was, I started talking about the basement and before I could even finish, he said, ok great! Don't take possession that's perfect! But said he was keeping our security deposit. At this point we are homeless with 2 kids and couldn't afford to lose that money so we said ok we will move in. He then refused to allow us to. His sister called the police. Then she didn't like what they had to say so started yelling and telling them they have no jurisdiction here! She called them! The cops were furious. They called their Sargeant to come down. He was so nice and he ended up screaming at the lady because she was so nasty and unreasonable. They refused us entry and refused to return our security deposit. Israel then told us he wasn't going to give us any of our money back, because he didn't want to "piece meal it," and we would deal with the whole thing in Court. We asked him to at least return the $3150 that he agreed he owed and we could deal with the security deposit in court, but he refuses stating he wants to keep it all one simple transaction. He wanted me to put in writing that we were the ones that walked away. I'm not that stupid. So now he has all of our $5250 dollars so we can't get a new place and are in our cars with 2 kids. This man took all of our money, and left us homeless. Please save yourself and DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE! Attached are pics of the "fully remodeled" shower. UPDATE! After forcing us to sign a contract agreeing not to sue for further damages, clearly he knew he was guilty, and to take down my google review, Israel Reyes finally returned our money. I am so grateful to his crazy sister for calling the police because we have most of this craziness in a detailed report. She even lied to the 911 dispatcher!! See PHOTOS to read the POLICE REPORT. He played games for days, made no sense and kept changing his story. He had all our money and was ignoring us until I wrote this. After I said I agreed he asked me give him a 5 star review and get 20 of my friends to also. I feel blackmailed and he wants 5 stars?! His major narcissism is the only reason we got our money back. If I hadn't written this he would still be ignoring us. That contract was signed under duress, I will not remove my review in hopes that it saves someone from this SCAMMER! See copy of POLICE REPORT! What's worse is the massive increase in microwave radiation (2GHz and 5GHz frequency bands) that will be irradiating tenants 24/7 - far above levels that have already proven to be unsafe (according to tens of thousands of peer-reviewed scientific studies worldwide). Equipment boxes and routers will blanket these properties with super high frequency ambient and directional radiation waves - in addition to the Radio Frequency exposures that are already choking the airwaves. Do your homework, Northland, before assaulting the brains and health of children, pets, and people with this reckless and dangerous technology - not to mention stripping tenants of their right to make decisions regarding their own health, safety, and peace of mind. The reports and links on the Environmental Health Trust website (ehtrust.org) provide enough validation on the dangers of 5G to halt this insane enforcement.

Let's see, we get popped with a $475 fee to replace the entire carpet because less than a square inch of it was damaged by our cat. We were told by the grounds people (upon pre inspection) that it wouldn't cost much to repair. THAT was BS! Oh, speaking of pets, it doesn't matter if the cat/dog was clean and didn't leave any stains/sheds on the carpet, you will STILL get charged a pet fee "for people allergic to pets". It's a PET FRIENDLY APARTMENT COMPLEX! People with allergies would know to avoid this place if they were concerned about dander!! Did I mention a "Deep cleaning fee" too, even though my husband scrubbed our place top to bottom?! To say I am angry is an understatement. After all that we have paid in rent and how we DID abide by the rules of our 2 month notice/cleaning the place, we are stuck paying nearly $2,000 just to leave. DO NOT RENT HERE! DO NOT RENT HERE! Two days prior to moving in, I called Ted and asked him what the earliest time we could come collect our keys was. He said that he didn't force his previous tenants to be completely moved out at the end of the lease so we might run into the previous tenants, he then went on a long tangent about how "they're good guys, you know, and also the heat works really well." I asked my question again, he said "Sometime between 9 and 10." I said, "So 9?" He said, "How about 10?" So there it was - we arrived at the building on the day at 9:55am. Ted was nowhere to be found - turns out that's typical of his "management" style. We called the number his answering machine gives as the "maintenance" number. That's where Rubin came in, he told us he'd arrive in 20 minutes, he arrived over an hour later. After we got let in, we found the toilet wasn't flushing, so I called Rubin. He said, "Give me five minutes." Two hours later - no Rubin. I went downstairs to Ted's office, he was there and said "Oh, sorry Rubin is taking so long, he ran out to get me some coffee." No mention of Ted's not showing up when he agreed to. Keep in mind, Ted is perfectly capable of getting his own coffee, especially when his maintenance guy has to go fix a new tenant's toilet. From that day forward through the end of our lease, Rubin especially repeatedly made demeaning and derogatory comments towards us whenever he had to come complete maintenance work (which was not that often). If that sounds like an experience you're interested in, this is the place for you. The location is indisputably great, minus the endless construction, but that's about it.

Everything they touched they screwed up. I usually had to finish or redo the repair so it was properly done. One day, the landlord had them install laundry facilities in the basement. Well they did, and hooked up the dryer wrong so it was free and we did not have to pay. Great for the tenants. It was about a month before the landlord discovered this and Ted and his crew ended their tenure on our building.

Well it was a series of events that got my hopes up only to lead to disappointment soured my experience. Also they don't really have much inventory. I will say that this company has the lowest "fee" for the place we were looking out of any of the other agencies. It was just a straight forward credit report from Experian that you could keep and use for future applications $15/person. (However, we all know all the other agencies won't trust you. They want you to fritter your money to pay a fee for their arbitrary credit report.) Then the usual stuff like pay stubs, W2 and references from previous landlord. I found a listing (too late) on Zillow for an ideal location with reasonable price, and she still agreed to show it to us which was nice since the property owners were still vetting candidates. She also tried to push this other undesirable (and overpriced) apartment that had been on the market for months in lieu of the current one. I can't help but feel like she just wanted to show more qualified candidates for consideration to boost her and the agency's reputation - when all along they were going to pick the first applicant anyway (to avoid potential accusations of discrimination). She even set up a meeting with the Property Managers for a small interview at their office location after hours. Regrettably she informed us that they chose the other applicant since they were equally qualified. I thought that the "dream place" slipped through our fingers. We asked her to keep us in mind for other rental units with similar stats, but we never heard from her again. Thankfully we got in touch with another realty group and found something else around the same price point. The absolute best part was that not even a month after we moved in we received an e-mail from Michelle and she said the same property was now available again for rental at the start of the following month! We let her know we found something else, but we were curious what happened. Of course I understand that she doesn't want to reveal what happened, but it's truly funny how things work out sometimes. Think RES is a professional company overall and I didn't get the scummy vibe from them (like CRG) so they could very well work for you. I am posting this review regarding Barkan Management Company's corporate handling of a serious…read morehealth and habitability complaint at their property Naubuc Green Apartments in Glastonbury, CT. This is not a minor complaint. This is a documented, ongoing failure to protect the health and safety of an elderly disabled tenant in federally assisted housing. My mother is a 69-year-old Section 8 tenant at Naubuc Green who has been unable to safely and comfortably occupy her apartment for over a month. The air quality in her unit has been dangerously elevated -- sustained high VOC levels and elevated particulate matter recorded by continuous monitoring over several weeks, coinciding with a persistent chemical odor particularly in the evenings. My mother experiences cough, throat and nose irritation, headaches, dizziness, and difficulty breathing every time she is inside the unit. Her symptoms consistently improve when she leaves. She has hypothyroidism, which makes her significantly more vulnerable to chemical exposure. She is 69 years old and on a fixed income. Here is exactly how Barkan Management handled this at every level: On March 25, 2026, property manager McKenzie Corcoran committed in writing: 'I'm in contact with BluSky just waiting for a date and time when they can come out, I'll keep you posted.' No new information emerged after that email. Nothing changed. That commitment was silently retracted with no explanation given. When pressed on why BlueSky was cancelled, management claimed BlueSky does not perform this type of air quality testing. I called BlueSky directly. They confirmed they absolutely do perform this type of inspection -- they assess the situation on site and coordinate third party laboratory testing as needed. Management's claim was factually false. On April 6, 2026, Laura J. Waldrop -- Senior Vice President of Barkan Management Company -- personally put the following in writing: 'We will not have your apartment tested for VOCs, by BluSky or any other similar company... Until you can produce this information, we will not do our own testing or transfer you to another unit.' The Senior Vice President of this company personally decided, in writing, that a 69-year-old disabled tenant in federally assisted housing would not have her air tested and would not receive a unit transfer -- regardless of the documented evidence or ongoing symptoms. She then recommended that my 69-year-old mother on a fixed income hire and pay for her own certified air quality engineer out of pocket. My mother pays rent every month to Barkan Management to live in their property. It is management's legal obligation to provide habitable conditions -- not the tenant's financial responsibility to prove her own home is unsafe. That a Senior Vice President would make this recommendation to an elderly Section 8 tenant is unconscionable. The full pattern of failures by Barkan Management: -- Refused to conduct any professional air quality testing despite weeks of documented evidence and ongoing physical symptoms -- Committed in writing to a BlueSky inspection then retracted it without explanation -- Made a false claim that BlueSky cannot perform this type of testing -- Conducted only visual walkthroughs and declared everything fine -- despite VOCs being odorless and completely undetectable without equipment -- Denied every request for a unit transfer despite over a month of displacement -- Offered no temporary accommodation and no reimbursement -- Ignored formal written requests for weeks at a time -- Used procedural technicalities to avoid engaging with documented concerns -- Told an elderly tenant on a fixed income to pay for testing themselves Property manager McKenzie Corcoran became confrontational with my mother during an in-person meeting -- raising her voice and dismissively asking 'What smell, Jolanta?' before repeatedly telling her 'I don't know what you're going to do, Jolanta.' The first statement dismisses the problem entirely. The second implicitly acknowledges it. My 69-year-old mother left that meeting feeling intimidated and afraid. This is how Barkan Management treats elderly tenants raising legitimate health and safety concerns. This property receives federal HUD funding and is designated specifically for elderly and disabled residents -- among the most vulnerable people in our community. Barkan Management's corporate leadership, up to and including the Senior Vice President, made a deliberate decision to leave a sick elderly woman without safe housing rather than fulfill their most basic obligations as a landlord. I have a complete paper trail -- emails with dates and names, VOC and particulate matter data, medical records, and management's own written responses. Every claim in this review is documented. I will be pursuing all available remedies including regulatory complaints, HUD complaints, and legal action.
