She is very professional and thorough as well as nice, kind and gentle. What a fantastic practice! I loved every single person i encountered! They were so great with my fear of dentists and were so supportive. My permanent retainer broke and it was so painful. I called as a new patient to see if they can take me in, but the earliest was Tuesday because they're closed on Mondays, so the doctor came in before the first appointment to take me because she didn't want me in pain. She didn't even know me! That was true above and beyond type care and I never ever want another dentist to take care of my teeth ever again. I just love them all! I was referred to Dr. Mallen by my previous pediatric dentist and I'm so glad that they recommended her! I'm extremely busy, being a working college student living away from home. But they worked with my hectic schedule and managed to actually schedule me an appointment within 2 weeks of me calling in. The staff is very kind and courteous, and so is Dr. Mallen herself. For my annual exam, she was more thorough than any dentist I've ever been to. I was originally nervous about having to find a new dentist, but I'm really glad I came here. I started seeing Dr. Mallen a couple years ago after a friend's referral. Today, however, she lost my business. There were a couple times over the two years where I felt nickeled and dimed. It was clear she very much cares about money, but she was nice so I kept going. Today though was the last straw. I went for my regular cleaning a couple months ago. While I was there, the hygienist said I hadn't seen Mallen for my yearly checkup yet, so she'd see if she could come by before I left. I very explicitly said (more than once) ok, as long as it's covered by my insurance. I was told it was covered. It's worth noting, in the past I had declined X-rays that my insurance would actually cover because during the apt I was told they had to double check to make sure and needed time. No problem, I said I'd do it at the next apt once they made sure. So I was always very clear on not doing anything not covered by my insurance. This time though, it was "confirmed" on that day to be covered, which is why I agreed. After the cleaning, however, I got a bill. I was, of course, confused. I called and spoke to Maddie at the front desk, and she didn't at all deny what occurred - that it was their office that suggested I see Mallen and verbally told me it would be covered and told me this was all written in the notes in my file. But somehow it was still my responsibility to pay them even though they were the ones who were wrong and misinformed me. And again, had I been given the correct info, I would have never proceeded, like I hadn't in the past. I asked Maddie to talk to Mallen about the situation again because surely a patient who didn't give permission (or even ask) for this time with Mallen, unless it was covered, could end up my responsibility, right? Well, I got a call today that Mallen still insists that I pay the bill, and her attempt to make it right was saying I wouldn't have to pay it until my next apt in March. Wow. Well, I paid the bill today and let them know I will not be going back. I refuse to support someone who runs their business in a way that is scamming customers out of money for errors and confusion on the staff's part when the customer explicitly says (multiple times) they don't want any service that isn't covered by insurance. I doubt they even care that they lost a customer over this, but I'm leaving this review to warn folks and hopefully help others avoid similar treatment. read more

Talented, thorough - as good as it gets!

Elizabeth Mallen is by far the best dentist you will ever have work on your teeth! She is a perfectionist so she does a great job and makes sure that things get done right the first time. Her office is also located in a nice building with a pharmacy located downstairs, so if you need any prescription medicine it is easily accessible. I also recently learned during a visit that Dr. Mallen is bilingual, speaking both English and Japanese! The main reasons why I choose Dr. Mallen to be my personal dentist is because of both her perfectionist mentality and also because she is very considerate of my comfort level throughout any part of any procedure that she is performing. Whether she is just checking for cavities or actually filling one, she always makes sure that I am comfortable during the procedure. She had definitely been a huge factor in helping me overcome my fear of going to the dentist. I would recommend Dr. Mallen to anyone!! read more

Twas the night before Thanksgiving and I was suddenly struck with EXCRUCIATING tooth pain. Turns out I need a root canal but naturally, every dentist in town is done for the day. Except for my own personal angel, Dr. Elizabeth Mallen. While she could not complete the root canal, she did all she could to alleviate my pain and treat the infection, staying well until the evening when by all rights she should have closed up shop. If I am going to show up to my appointment on time and respect the office's schedule, I expect them to respect my schedule as well. So after I left "Smile for Life (Savings)" as they tried to remove mine, my wife located Dr. Mallen, through references rather than position on Google advertising. Since my wife had seen Dr. Mallen previously, we spent about 10 minutes on the internet to locate her. We forwarded the X-rays to learn that Smile as you wave good bye to your Life Savings, to find she didn't have a broken tooth...she didn't need to laser out all of her front teeth, but what she did need, was a single cleaning. Dr. Mallen felt it necessary to tell the truth, for some strange reason, and not try to remove all of the credit cards in our possession. If you are looking for honesty and integrity, she's your man. I was referred to Dr. Mallen's office through my children's pediatric dentist, and I was extremely happy with my experience. My great experience began with Jenny who worked really hard to help me get an appointment that worked around my schedule. She reached out to me a few times as slots became available, and she was able to get me in sooner than expected. This was important because I was a few months overdue for my cleaning. I had a great cleaning done by the hygenist Artemis who gave me one of the most thorough cleanings I have ever had. I was overdue, so that created more work for her to get my teeth clean, but she had a great attitude the whole time. She is very nice, and I was at ease during my entire visit. read more

Dr. Mallen and her staff were great. They were very friendly, thorough and attentive with me. Since it had been more than a year between cleanings and I was about to switch dental insurance they were very accommodating in fitting all my appts in before my old insurance ran out. They even offered to numb my gums/teeth upon my second cleaning appt. since they were able to fit it in the very next day. I can't say enough about them and even on a day when one of the staff was out sick Dr. Mallen still had a smile on her face as she attended to each of her patients while still filling in for one of the absent assistants.
