This clinic is new and clean like all the other medical buildings I've happened upon in Newcastle. The toilets are clean, they are locked now so you will have o ask for the key to use the facilities. The staff are not always that friendly but they are helpful. The GP is very efficient, quick diagnoses, no fuss, but I can't help feel like I'm being treated very clinical in there. The nurses for the walk-in service are friendly but can only treat minor things and can tell you if you need to see the doctor. It is quick and easy to register to be able to use the GP services (faster if you find a member of the admin team and have your documents such as NI number, ID and proof of address). Also, it is located in a very handy place as the bus stops right outside the practice and there is a pharmacy next door.

The heath centre itself is easily accessible by bus or car and offers ample parking with it being next door to Aldi supermarket. The pharmacy is just around the corner too which is pretty convenient for those needing prescriptions. Found it a little unusual that there isn't a reception upstairs so you sit in the waiting room and hope for the best. I was a few minutes late on one occasion and sat for half an hour oblivious to whether they had already called my name or were just running late. The waiting room is also small and cramped so personal space does not exist if it gets busy. The staff seem friendly enough. They don't appear to go the extra mile though. On both occasions I was told what I already knew and that I needed to be seen at the RVI for actual treatment so it appears to be an unnecessary stepping stone. Not much else to say really.

Some people seem to have an okay experience here (maybe it depends on whether they like you or not,…read moreI think they don't like people who aren't like them) but I definitely didn't. The place is horrendous, I would avoid it at all costs if you are experiencing mental health difficulties. There wasn't anywhere available close to where I live so I got sent miles away to Roseberry Park Hospital, if I knew what it was going to be like I would have just topped myself. I almost did manage to kill myself the first night I was "on the ward" (by strangulation) because I knew straight away what kind of place I was in but I was sectioned so couldn't leave. They've got some really bad people working (if you can call what they do work) in this hospital who brazenly take pleasure in being as nasty and abusive as possible (they do it in front of other people who either join in or at best just turn a blind eye) and they think it is hilarious (the kind of bottom feeders who were useless bullies at school and haven't changed). Some of them clearly enjoyed it a lot and even looked like they were proud of what they were doing, I could tell that a couple of them were definite sadists. I think some of the staff would normally be fairly decent people but they sort of go along with the nastiness to fit in with their colleagues (or something along those lines) because the place has an established culture where abuse is just accepted and considered normal (but don't get me wrong, it is still pathetic and cowardly). The fact that these particular "NHS workers" would have been applauded as brave rainbow warriors during the pandemic makes me feel sick to the stomach. It was constant mental and emotional torment and then they tried to make me feel like I had done something to deserve it and it was all my fault. They had the attitude that they could say and do whatever they wanted because I had mental health problems. These are people who are supposedly getting paid to provide mental health care. A few examples of things they did include a guy who would stare in through the window hatch while I was trying to sleep at night saying I was going to prison and encouraging me to kill myself, the woman who laughed when she saw a bad scar I have got from a previous suicide attempt, the woman who made some of the other patients think I was a sex offender, having doors slammed in my face, impersonating police officers, breaching confidentiality on purpose, intimidation, threats of violence, bullying, taunting, saying disgusting and highly offensive things, mocking and mimicking my speech and facial expressions, dehumanising verbal abuse, ridicule, playing twisted mind games and childish pranks, baiting, laughing at me for being in pain, using past traumatic experiences to trigger and inflict massive mental and emotional distress and so forth (there isn't enough space to go into full detail). It is an extremely damaging and harmful environment (I think "toxic" is the word people use these days) and definitely not a place of safety and recovery from mental ill health. Being in Roseberry Park Hospital is easily one of the worst experiences I've ever had (and I've been through some really bad stuff). I rarely complain about things even if they aren't great but this hospital isn't right at all (except for the psychiatrists, a couple of other people and some of the cleaning staff). I'll probably have to live with the nightmares and bad memories I've got from being in this hellhole for the rest of my life (which is the sort of thing they would find really funny ). A huge thumbs down from me, I absolutely despise the place. I've been an inpatient in a couple of other psychiatric hospitals since Roseberry Park which were a million times better because they had mental health care professionals working in them (instead of vile, ignorant bullies) who treated me like an actual person and were good at their jobs. I got better faster in those hospitals (even though the psychosis was worse, I'm fairly sure it was worse because of the experience I had in this place) and I didn't attempt suicide which says a lot about how bad this hospital is.

I was sent to this hospital back in early 2016 because there was nowhere available closer to where…read moreI live. I was sectioned on Bilsdale Ward, Roseberry Park Hospital for 2 months due to suffering from a severe episode of depressive disorder with some psychotic symptoms, generalised anxiety disorder and paranoia. I have been a patient in four psychiatric hospitals over the years (each time a different one) and have had episodes of psychosis where my memory and perception were affected but when I was in RPH it was mainly severe depression and unfortunately I can remember it all fairly well. RPH is completely abysmal and it is riddled with some really cruel and abusive staff members who are completely immune to being reprimanded or sacked. There were a few staff members who I'm fairly certain could have been arrested and prosecuted for their actions and behaviour. I tried to kill myself the first night there with a belt (but passed out and all the blood vessels in my eyes bursted) due to an intimidating bully HCA (bald headed guy with a BO problem called Steve) who (shortly after I was admitted) started saying things like "he says he's going to kill himself?  Ahh hope he f&cking does!".  He sometimes stood outside my bedroom door at night (when I was trying to sleep) looking in with his evil shrew face and would start dragging his keys across the observation window saying I was "going to prison" etc. At times he would look at me as if he wanted to kick my head in.  Why? I don't know. Another one (HCA called Stacy) said "I sex offender" and that "I wanted to be a tranny" (her words not mine) to other patients during a meal time (it must have been the next day). She said "I was going on the sex offender's register" and accused me of being "a paedophile".  When she saw that I was disgusted and offended by this she just laughed and carried on doing it even more. But on the other hand, she was also saying things (that I wouldn't be able to repeat on here) relating to being a victim of that kind of abuse.  She was especially vile and sadistic (I could tell that she enjoyed trying to hurt people).  One woman said I must have committed crimes because I was nervous and she laughed when she noticed a bad scar I have got on my arm from a previous suicide attempt I made when I was younger. Some of them will probe for past trauma or difficult experiences so they can use it as a means to inflict as much mental and emotional pain as they possibly can. And they find all of this hilarious.  I was laughed at and not given an answer when I asked simple questions (such as if I could go for a walk), doors were slammed in my face, they played twisted mind games, encouraged me to commit suicide (and said they would throw a party if I did), mocked and mimicked me, were sarcastic and always cynical about everything, laughed at me for being in pain with my bad back ("What's wrong can't you stand up properly hahaha!"), were intimidating and threatening, wouldn't even attempt to listen to anything I had to say and would make things up for no reason at all. If you approach one of them they just get up and go into the office or they will laugh at you until you go away. They never ask you how you are or address you by name and look at you with pure hostility and contempt. They make you feel like you are doing something wrong all the time when you are behaving normally.  Oh and they will freely divulge confidential information directly to other patients.   I hadn't done anything to deserve any of this and I always tried to be polite and didn't cause any trouble. All I wanted to do was recover and get better. I hated every minute I was there and never felt safe. There were a few fairly decent people (including the psychiatrists) but on the whole it is an awful place where the culture has moved so far into bullying and abuse that it has become the norm (and nobody seems bothered by it).  It's a horrible place and it needs to be fully investigated.
