Food is definitely on the higher price point, but is so worth it!! We got their burger and fries and it was the best burger and fries we think we've ever had. Their ketchup is so good. The old city hall is offcause situated central i Roskilde right by Stændertorvet and Roskilde Domkirke. It's a beautiful but very busy place. In the basement and yard beside the old city hall you can find rest and get composure on a e.g hectic shopping day. The food is great. They serve dishes typical for most Danish main stream restaurants. Especially the pariserbøf (no English translation) is worth trying. Pariserbøf is open sandwich with fried steak tartare. Try some of the good beers from Herslev Bryghus. It's a great brewery. I can't give the last 5th star because of the quality of the bread. Such a place should do better. Especially the rye bread wasn't good. The service was also a bit slow, even though it wasn't a busy day.

Though we didn't have reservations, we were able to be seated within 5 minutes, in what appeared to be a busy restaurant for a midweek dinner. I had telephoned earlier during the day, but they didn't answer their phone. Service was acceptable, though our young server was visibly put out by our interest to only order wine initially and enjoy a glass before ordering our meal. So, we accommodated her, and ordered everything at once. However, she misunderstood our order, and brought out our starter salad with our main dishes. Since the fish dish was hot, we ate the main right away, and had the server take the salad back to eat afterwards.... Not a big deal, and good of the young girl to come over and apologize. The food was very good, and like most Danish restaurants, heavy on the potatoes. Our fish was Haddock, 240 Dkr, baked in a butter broth, with assorted vegetables, including carrots and fennel. The salad, only 50 Dkr, was large enough to share. Our dessert was a chocolate fondant, 100 Dkr. Two Half bottles of wine were 270 Dkr each, for a total of 1166 Dkr. A most enjoyable dinner.

We ordered and paid for it at the counter. Pick up was also here when food was ready. Staff completed every step perfunctory. The Viking platter was served on a wooden plank filled with food and tastes of the Viking era. This interpretation included pulled pork, coleslaw, smoked halibut, prosciutto ham, cheese, Nordic hummus, berry compote and breads. Or favorites were the pulled pork, smoked halibut and the berry compote. We were not a fan of the Nordic hummus, which seemed just to be mashed peas but overall we enjoyed finishing the entire plank.
