The most toxic, putrid restaurant owner I ever met in my life and I have travelled much
Common decency prevents me from using the actual words that would best describe the woman who runs this restaurant.
I recently visited this place for the first and final time with my girlfriend. Arriving at the door we were directed to an outdoor table which we requested. We ordered $12.30 worth of entrae in short time and requested more time to brows the menu before ordering further. I sensed the owner was a bit put out by the small initial order but did not worry about this. The food came in reasonable time and was of average quality more befitting of a less classy, cheaper restaurant. Given the cold vibe from the owner, the average quality and overprice of the food we decided to stay no longer and get pizza nearby to take home. My girlfriend went to order pizza and I went inside to pay for what we ordered, a total price as stated on the menu of $12.30. We had not been there long at all, most of the time we were there was waiting for our order. At the till the owner presented me with a bill for over $14. I pointed out the value of the food as written in the table menu. I took my debit card from my wallet and told her I would not pay any more than the menu stated. Her response was to now tell me the minimum spend with a card was $30. I could not believe her arrogance that her response to my polite complaint about being overcharged was to attempt to try to make me pay more than double the initial over charge !!! There was no mention of surcharges, hidden fes or minimum spends at the table or when we ordered, only at the till at the end of the meal were these mysterious fees put upon me. Her attitude during this exchange was disgusting. Her greed and contempt was distressing. I told her that she would either except the advertised price or I would walk out without paying. She snatched the card out of my hand before I offered it to her. I picked up the wireless eftpos device on the counter and asked for my card back. I could not believe it had got to a stalemate like this. Inwardly I was both amused and outraged. Sensing that I was serious and unyielding to her attempted extortion she said 'ok, you pay $12.80'. Well for the sake of 50 cents it seemed like a bargain to never have to look upon her sad and greedy rude face again so I paid by eftpos. She offered me a receipt, I declined (there is an electronic record anyway) then she said get out and never come back here again. As if I or anyone having gone through that would.
I went to the pizza shop a few doors down and waited with my girlfriend for the pizza. As I was telling her about this a man from the restaurant approached us and informed me that the transaction did not work as my card had expired. I knew this was not correct and that there was no way that owner would have let that happen, she was watching that card and the transaction like a haw k.
My girlfriend asked the man if he worked there. He said no. He was a customer. I could not believe this was happening. I told him to go away only not in those words. He went away, quickly.
Later at home I checked my bank online and the transaction went through. She must have lied to the customer and made up a fake story about an expired card to make herself look better in font of the customers.
So if you are looking for a restaurant experience where you will be underwhelmed by the overpriced menu, treated like you don't matter and enjoy being ripped off, extorted and lied about, this is the place for you.
